  1. Looking for some insight.

Attanasio, the milwaukee brewers owner is reportedly investing in the soccer team I support (Norwich City), with a long term takeover planned.

Would appreciate a bit of info on what he's like as an owner from MLB fan perspective. Just general reputation and outsider perspective.

Not looking to derail the thread, but its not worth starting a new thread for, and I couldn't see a generic MLB thread. Apologies for the intrusion, mods - feel free to delete if you feel that's appropriate.

I'd take Dotson at 17 if forced to (seems as if we don't like Lloyd).  However, I'd trade down again if possible and take RB1 at the end of the first.

I read that as DoCtson and was thoroughly triggered by it. Still get shivers of horror from that draft.

I dont work on Sundays until I reopen my own place and can cook brunch again.

Nailed my mung bean egg recipe today. Diakon bacon too. Going to try a new breakfast sausage later.

Lighten up dude. It's the gedunk pregame thread and we're talking about that.

I wasn't criticising the choice of topic in the thread, I'm always interested to hear about diving - I was just signposting to somewhere that he can find likeminded people for future discussion :)

Saw your post.  Wasn’t sure if diving was a typo. Looked at your profile and see that you live in USVI.  Which island?   I’ve been to St. Croix a few times for work and have done a few dives there.

Love diving.  Wish I could do more of it.  I was on a dive team here and did search and rescue for a few years.  Not sure why it is called rescue as its always recovery.  Body recovery from mountain lakes/rivers isn’t as fun.  Anyway, I’m jealous as I love USVI.  Love reefs.  Have a 250gal reef tank so I can at least experience a tiny piece of ocean each day.

anyway… back to our miserable team.

We got a thread for diving in the Tailgate - you're welcome to join...

  5. This year has been really rough for me, I won't go into detail here but its been tough. I feel like the pendulum of life is finally swinging back in my favour though and things are looking up.

Man it would be nice to start this new era of my life with a Washington playoff win, something I've never seen before... and the path to that starts tonight.

I'm not watching this one live tonight, I'm going to watch with someone special on gamepass on Xmas eve instead. That in itself is something I am very thankful for given the way this year has panned out for me!! Didn't think this would be the way the year was ending.

Here's hoping Garrett Gilbert and the next man up brigade can kick the Eagles in the teeth and give us all some Christmas cheer.

  6. It won't be this season for me - lots of personal stuff going on which means it may not be for a few years yet.... but when I eventually make it stateside for a game, I will 100% be in for the ES tailgate... met a lot of the guys at the Wembley game a few years back and such a friendly, welcoming group (special mention to @Skinsfan1311 on that front who was incredibly generous and helpful).

Sad to hear about the losses within the community.

Good luck for the season guys!

I hate a lot of what Israel is doing, and I understand the feelings of wanting to strike back or lash out at them via rockets or some other method. I don’t think the random Israeli citizen who voted against and does not support their policies deserves to be blasted with rockets or be terrified every day though.

To put some perspective on this, 10 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian rockets since last Moday. 41 Palestinian CHILDREN and 104 others have been killed by Israeli bombs in the same time frame. A Palestinian child is currently 4 times more likely to die than any Israeli citizen. When the death toll is skewed 10 to 1 in favour of one side, it's pretty hard to sell me that we should be concerned for the oppressor, complicit in genocide by choosing to live in an apartheid state that abuses human rights, rather than the oppressed people.

Theyve collectively voted in far right extremists for years. There is mandatory military service. Vast Majority of Israelis are complicit in one way or another. Maybe if they stopped voting in extremist lunatics and started treating Palestinians and Arabs with dignity, and abolished their racist, segregationist apartheid policies, they might find less rockets get fired.

If youre not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Zero sympathy for anybody who chooses to live in a racist country. Plenty move because they disagree with the activities of the Israeli state and don't want to be associated with genocide.

  8. I'm sure I'm going to disagree with many people on this thread because the US has always protected Israel from criticism and accountability for it's actions, and I understand the support for Israel is far stronger in the USA than it is here in the UK, but I cannot understand how anybody could legitimately support the behaviour of the Israeli government.

From the outset, I will be very clear. My Grandfather was in a concentration camp for 2.5 years (Political prisoner) and suffered some horrific treatment, including having a nail hammered through his stomach and an attempt to blow all the prisoners up in a cave before the guards fled as it was clear that the US army was days away from the camp. His dad and 2 of his brothers were murdered by the Nazis, literally lined up against a wall and shot for no reason. Another brother was in the Polish army and murdered at Katyn.

If anyone should be able to sympathise with Israel, it's me. Literally half my family were murdered by the Nazis and my grandfather was tortured by them.... but how the **** do you sympathise with a country that was founded because of the horrors of concentration camps, who then proceed to turn Gaza into the biggest concentration camp in history? The way the Israelis treat the Palestinians is no better than the way the Nazis treated the Jewish people. How on Earth does them historically having suffered enable them to commit genocide with no accountability at all?!

They have committed various war crimes in the past, including the use of white phosphorous on civilian population centres. Today they bombed the **** out of a ****ing refugee camp. That's beyond wrong, it's ****ing disgusting. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9581639/Five-month-old-baby-boy-pulled-ALIVE-rubble-Israeli-air-strike-Gaza-refugee-camp.html

If I was Palestinian, then you're damn right I would be firing rockets into Israel. What other route do the people there have? Stand by and watch Israel systematically murder an entire ethnic group of people? Israel has been building settlements that are illegal in the eyes of international law for decades.... If you're not clear about why they are doing that, it's exclusively to prevent Palestine ever having a future state. Thats why the settlements are so disparate and not connected to each other.... Divide up the map so any kind of two state solution is not viable.... Israel don't want peace, they never have. They routinely abuse human rights, they murder indiscriminately and whenever anybody gets vocal about it, they cry anti-semitism. It's not anti-semitic to be anti-Israel, and it's incredibly ironic for them to play the racism card when they are literally commiting a race-based genocide and are possibly the single most racist country on Earth.

I don't deny Israel's right to exist, I do deny their right to commit unsolicited mass murder and the world watch on apathetically though.

How does any rightminded person support a country where the army glorify murdering children on tshirts? ( https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israeli-t-shirts-joke-about-killing-arabs/ )

Sorry, but **** them. The world should be going to war over this, there is no "two sides to every story" here, there is right and wrong.

If you are 5 hours ahead of standard eastern time, all kickoffs other than 1 pm ones are going to be a pain.

Nah, I can deal with the 9.25 ones as I'm a night owl so am normally up til about 1 anyway, it's just the really late ones that are an issue.

So 2 games that suck this year. The Dallas game is in school holidays so I don't mind that.

  10. Praying for as few Primetime games as possible. I'm a teacher so can't book time off and 1:25am kick offs are just bull****. Either have to sleep in the evening and get up at 1am - or spend all day trying to avoid seeing the score (about 80% success rate, so 20% chance I see the score and it ruins the game) and watch it when I get home. Either option sucks.

We're gonna end up opening the season in New York, aren't we

I'd take that. I'd take our Defense on Daniel Jones to start the season. Also means they wouldn't have any tape on our offense which presumably will have an enhanced playbook given the options that Samuels gives us.

In fact, that's probably my preferred season opener. Get it out the way early.

I could see us bringing back Richard Rodgers at TE who we cut last year.

Really disappointing that we missed on Harris. Definitely could have done with one more strong acquisition. That said, we’ve brought in quality and we haven’t wasted cash, so on balance it’s been a solid start in free agency.

Slim pickings left. Wonder if there are further cuts or potential trades in the making.

Agreed on the Harris front, but someone else mentioned earlier in the thread (apologies, I forget who). For Harris to sign a one year deal - he's obviously looking to maximise his FA value next year.

It makes a tonne of sense for him to do that by being the big star in a poor defense than one of the constellation in a great defense in DC. He's backing himself to shine, knowing Philly will be a relatively poor Defense so he will stand out more and get more press, more attention etc. His only big contract was $11 mill last year and $3mill the year before, so it's not like he has made bank for several years and is sitting on piles of cash. He'll be 30 during the season.
You factor that in with his old coach now being DC in Philly, and another shot at FA riches next year and it's understandable, although it's not helpful to us!
