Can't believe that this far after the Sundberg announcement, nobody has yet mentioned the time where he BROKE HIS DAMN ARM in the middle of a game, and played the entire second half anyway.
That's one story that always sticks out to me when Sundberg comes up in conversation. Absolute warrior, and always comes across as a really good dude.
Sad to see him go, and wish him nothing but the absolute best.

I'm so happy with this. I'm not saying he's the messiah, but he earned a shot to prove he can do it. I don't know whether he can or not, but the dude can play ball at least in spots and he deserved a chance to stay in the league. Worst case, he's a streaky back up.
Great signing and really happy for the dude.

Talk about diversity. We got a Black team president, Black GM, Latino Head Coach and Latino Defensive Coordinator. Now just need some Indians / South Asians to represent my people
We also just promoted Jennifer King on the coaching side. First full time black female coach in the game.
Was literally thinking to myself about an hour ago that I am finally proud of the way we go about things in the FO.
We're shattering glass ceilings and breaking moulds without even breaking stride.
It feels like Bruce and the boys was a lifetime ago. It's a real breath of fresh air.

Hurney in an advisory capacity along with the hire of another, qualified and proven GM would be perfectly fine with me. We can only react to the reports we’re getting, conditional to the narrative of the moment. I don’t think anyone would have an issue with the above scenario if a guy like Cowden is the big hire and Hurley is an advisor that he and Rivera both trust. That’s the type of spot where he belongs. The GM title and position, that’s another thing.
Exactly this. If Hurney is GM and that's it, then this is a really disappointing move. If Hurney is GM but Kyle gets a promotion to AGM and it's clear that Hurney is a stopgap until Kyle is ready to take the reigns and Kyle will retain most of the draft responsibilities, sure I can buy into it although I don't love it. If Hurney is an advisor and we get Cowden or someone in then I'm fully on board and it's a great move.

Yeah, that would be Heinicke and Allen. I'm not sure about Montez, but I think they like him...they liked him enough to dress him in the playoff game and sit Alex. So maybe Montez is a guy for us here moving forward, too.
Montez dressed for the playoff because we had zero options. A better way to think about whether Ron likes him, is that he scooped Heinicke out of his university dorm and immediately elevated him over Montez who has been around the roster all season, rather than put Montez in for the regular season.
My solid expectation is that Montez stays on the practice squad and Alex is replaced with a cheap vet for a true QB comp with Kyle and Heinicke.1 hour ago, DefinitelyMaybe said:I’m not convinced it’s going to happen, but could somebody explain to me how our salary cap is affected if Smith retires?

I'm sorry but the "Heneicke Hive" just sounds gross. It sounds like a lot of phlegm would be involved.
See maybe that says more about you, because to me, the Heinicke Hive sounds more like a dance move from the 1950s....

I don’t think getting a new QB prevents those other moves. Draft picks in early.mid rounds of 1,2,3,3,4,5 plus 40-60mil in cap space depending on various factors.
We’re in good shape. Too good of shape to go lame at QB.
But when QB costs you your round 1 pick and you're not even getting a top tier guy.... or it costs you 1,2,3, 2022 1,2 to get in the conversation for a top tier guy or you trade for a known quantity and it costs you 1st, 2nd, next year's first and 35mill of that cap space for a decent vet, are you thinking we can fill 2 x starting WR, 2 x CB, 2 x ILB from 3,3,4,5 and 15-25mill? If you pick up some cheap vet like Tyrod Taylor as competition/insurance, then fine, but I would say that's less aggressive than it appears Ron wants to be.
I just think going QB this year kills us in terms of team improvement. Use those picks and the cap to stack the roster and then go all in on QB the year after. Throw whatever it takes down to get the guy we want and let them take the top off the team and get us a Lombardi.
Put new WR,CB and ILB on this team and we don't need Dan Marino to make us competitive for the conference. We need someone capable. Heinicke or Kyle Allen could both potentially be that. Signing a cheap vet also could do that.
Heinicke might be lightning in a bottle. Kyle Allen is at least serviceable so it's not like we have nothing at QB. Maybe one of them exceeds expectations and balls without getting hurt - then hey, you solved the QB problem for free.
I don't care if it's Peyton Manning in his prime under centre, if he is throwing to scrubs like Sims x 2 and Isaiah Wright, we ain't going anywhere. The cost of getting a really good QB this year is a killer for the roster development (without lucking into one or one falling into our laps).
I think Ron will go big for a QB this year, and I will reserve judgement until I see how the roster shakes out but that's the path I would be looking at in his position.

Having won the division, and given a sound account of ourselves in the playoffs, and with a clear goal to add a couple of pieces and push on, I don't see us cautiously addressing the QB position. They’re ain’t no ‘oh well we can always get one in 2022 approach’ coming IMO.I get that, but in my opinion Kyle/Heinicke plus 2 stud WR and fixing ILB + CB is better than a new QB, scrub WRs + Terry and maybe fixing either ILB or CB.
QBs cost money (and for us this season probably draft picks and players)... is the productivity from ponying up to get the QB worth it if the guy is throwing to WR who can't catch a damn ball that hits them in the numbers and we have to give up assets in the process?I just don't like that route.

Doubt TH has a future in DC based upon his political stance. Don't see it.
Our Defensive Coordinator has very similar political stance. Hasn't caused him too many issues so far.
Im also not buying into this 5 quarters thing. Yes it's a small sample size. You know what else is a small sample size? Drafting a QB in Round 1 who has played zero quarters of football. We're rolling the dice drafting a QB, we're rolling a dice running with Heinicke. Roll the cheap dice and beef up the roster with some weapons. If Heinicke ain't "it" then we'll be very favourable landing spot for someone in 2022.

4th string qb beating the GOAT in a playoff game would be absolutely epic.
If Heinicke pulled that off, I expect to see a movie about his rise to glory on Netflix before the year is out.

After RG3 - I said I would NEVER buy a current player jersey again.
So far I haven't - I've stuck to my ST21 jersey.
I just bought a Chase Young 99 jersey.
This kid has me sold. He's going to be one of the best football players to ever hit DC.

With local media like this, why would any player want to come to DC?
This is a bull**** move from WaPO. Give the kid a break.

I don't really get the whole checking in your fancard thing.
This organisation is FINALLY being sorted out and the scumbags kicked to the kerb.
We have a respected coach who is also a POC.
We brought in a woman into the heart of the FO. A very competent and shrewd woman too, she's kicking ass so far.
Jason Wright seems to be just about the smartest guy in any room he walks into, is an exemplary character and is also the first black team president of ANY NFL team ever.
So we now have a respectable structure with good, honest, decent people running things for the first time in decades.... but people are saying "well we supported them through the toxic years whilst all the immoral **** was going down but now things are finally being put straight, we're mailing it in - we're done"? How many of y'all were supporting the team when GPM was running the show?
I get that people hate Snyder, I hate Snyder too and to be honest, I can't see him lasting much longer before the NFL take him to the wood shed one way or another.... but this organisation is finally on the right path. This offseason has been hard to take, but damnit it's by far the best thing that could possibly have happened.
I'm not going to chew people out for walking away from the franchise, it's not my place, but for me, it feels like a fresh beginning and I'm looking forward to seeing us rebuild into an organisation that I can support without embarassment. I hope others will join me.

I remember you saying that actually. Impressive.

Yes. Shame on me for saying that giving Snyder money is the wrong thing for fans to do. Shame on me for saying that allows him to continue this rotten culture. Shame on me for saying it’s time for us to advocate for our team by enacting change and demanding more by withholding from him.
Shame on me for saying that accepting him by not changing our actions is morally incorrect.
So given the profit share nature of the NFL, have you decided nobody is allowed to buy any merchandise regardless of team as some of the money will line Snyder's pocket?
I get what you're saying but we've all enabled it for the last 10 years. I imagine you included. Next season might just be the first where its not being enabled. The logic doesn't make sense.
Blaming the fans for the disgusting behaviour of team execs doesn't work for me. I get the idea but I just don't buy the premise when we now have Rivera in and the people involved have been cleared out.

So I didn't see anybody else pick up on this from Ben Standig re: The Santos exit - apologies if I missed it - Seems convenient given the Redskins history and Rivera tie-in...

I like some musicals, depends on the songs. Rocky Horror Picture Show is probably my favourite.
I would love to watch Hamilton, but I don't have Disney + currently. Will that performance be on that platform over the long term, or is it temporary?
They've not given any set time frame for it to be available... I haven't got D+ either but was at my sisters place at the weekend and she has it so watched it there.
