Recall my Dad once observing that the people who make golf courses always make the ground slope towards the water.
(It took me a moment to figure out there's a reason the water is always at the bottom of a slope.)
Just pointing out there is a reason water is not usually found at the top of a slope.

Mountcastle +600 for a homer.

Any person I’ve ever met that brags about carrying a gun, winds up being someone I don’t think should be carrying a gun.
it seems to be a pretty reliable flag that someone probably shouldn’t be carrying a gun.
I almost never carry anymore because I'm always stoned at some level. 😂
I know it isn't a popular opinion but I'm still against concealed carry. I prefer it for myself so people don't know I'm armed. But if I'm walking in somewhere, I'd rather KNOW who is armed instead of guessing. Then I can also judge them based on how they act and importantly, what gun they carry. You can tell a lot about a person by what they carry.

I'm saying that desperate people do desperate things. Telling them "don't do that" doesn't help if there's no viable alternative given.
You didn't answer my question. A simple yes or no will do

There needs to be a converse, though. What should desperate, oppressed people do to earn their independence? Something that will actually work.
To be clear, are you defending the actions that day?

I think some of you are being too literal. I took it more as "we can't let events like Oct 7th be a manner in which places earn their independence."

I knew the Covid vaccine had them howling, but I didn’t realize the rot had spread so far that teaching about vaccines was now impossible.and what this means is that kids will learn about the subject from TikTok instead. Wonderful.
Vaccines causing autism, etc has been around for decades. Vaccine conspiracies are as old as vaccines themselves.

Nothing on the Weisselberg tea from today?
Apparently there is a contract for $750k for him to not cooperate with prosecutors. The state wants to introduce the contract to explain why he is not testifying. But they didn't subpoena him either. Could be some juicy hearing next week....
I'm trying to find the tweet but I think this is wrong. His NDA has a carveout or something about testifying that the defense is trying to use as an exception.
*pretty sure I remember reading that but we know what my memory is worth nowadays.

It’s a shame the world is full of people who act like the failure of the first attempt to do something world changing is some kind of indictment of the entire idea.
The article appears to say the device itself is still producing useful data.
as an aside, how do they take the air out of the brain after brain surgery?
You don't make many good points in this thread but this is one of the few.

I was going to go camping out of the city to go watch but the weather forecast is garbage. Doubt there is anywhere around here that will see it.

I don't doubt it one bit.
Second is deck division, trying to get the ship out and move it back in with the lines and braided steel cords. Getting it anchored. Proper tension is absolutely vital. I've heard stories of people getting snapped in half when one breaks.
UNREP at night. Nope, ain't happening. Enjoy that one, deck division.

So, nah, I'm not buying it. And when push comes to shove, they cower and hide while children are systematically murdered when the job actually gets dangerous.
I remember hearing a few times that the filght deck of a navy ship was the most dangerous job in the world. I don't know if that is backed up though.

And, having said all that?
I believe in cutting the cops a lot of slack, when the person who got shot actually has a gun.
That slack does not extend to "well, he tried to run away, and he might have had a gun". Or "well, I told him to lay on the ground and he didn't."
But if the subject had a gun? In his hand? Some slack is due.
And there wouldn't have been near the uproar had they actually been at the right house. If the actual SUSPECT had a gun, I'd agree with you.
But if you want to wield the power of life and death, make sure you're knocking on the right ****ing door first.
