At this point, might as well let Magic coach for the year, draft Maye, then trade down from #1 overall next year for a bevy of picks and get your real HC that offseason.

I’m joking, but really only about the Magic part.

Showtime!  Bring it.  I'm ok with having Magic head coach for a year.  All he has to do is motivate men to buy in, exceed their capabilities, and do what their position coaches/coordinators want them to do.

You also can't just ignore lower picks because the return on lower round picks is low.  How many 5th round picks is the 2nd pick in the draft worth?  Even with a low return rate on QBs taken in the 5th round or later, a ton of picks is going to increase your chances.  The hit rate of getting a good QB at 2 is much higher than the 5th round or later.  But the 2nd round pick over all is going to be worth a ton of 5th round picks.

I'm sure there's a way to acquire every pick in the 5th.  EVERY.  Most of us have come close on one of those draft simulators.  Let's go for it.  Gotta be some diamonds in that rough.  It's not like 6th or 7th rounders, and as 5th rounders - cheap contracts.  DO IT!

I sure am glad you arent in charge.

    But he's allowed to post.

Look, if you're going to pass on QB at #2, you don't do it to take a tackle when the son of Marvin Harrison, Jr. is blazing downfield just waiting for that hail Mary.  How many HOF OTs have SB rings?  Not that they don't deserve them (it's a team effort), but OTs don't make jaw-dropping catches in the endzone, burst through a crease at the LOS and outrun the defense for a 75 yd TD.  At a certain point, you max out the utility of any offensive lineman.  We had Chris Samuels and, later, Trent Williams and where did they get us?  Don't get me wrong, if you have a fluke bad year and end up with the #2 and need an OT badly, ok, but we can get good enough production out of the 2nd round.

We could get a Golden Retriever to play quarterback.

    Just as a stop gap.

    It could be fun.

That's absurd.  Goldens are so effing friendly.  You want a bulldog back there.  Or maybe a St. Bernard.  How do you sack a St. Bernard?  You don't.  You open his cask and take a drink.  Yeah, get the D drunk and then send the bulldog in after halftime.  I think we're onto something.

As far as Fields, he sucks.  Let it go.

It's Tyler Spiers, and no I am not a troll. I've been a fan since watching the Skins win the 82 Super Bowl sitting on my grandfather Jimmy Roach's lap in the deep South of Richmond, Virginia. He was not only a WW2 vet, but he went back to fight in the Korean War losing both his eye and three of his fingers. His greatest pleasure was watching the Skinny Mammas. His second greatest pleasure was taking out his glass eye and putting it inside his mouth and growling at me like Marlon Brando in the Godfather. So yeah, pretty much a super fan.

If you weren't taking sides in the "I like Sonny/I like Billy" wars, you ain't a real fan.  (Disclaimer:  I liked Joey)

The only team with an elite HOF QB who consistently made it to the conference championships  and won them consistently was Brady.  In history, Aikman, Montana, Elway and Terry Bradshaw might be the ones you'd name from the 70's on.  All the other elite HOF QBs had ups and downs.

As a child of the 70's, I liked Terry Bradshaw, especially when Pittsburgh was beating Dallas in the Super Bowl.  But he practically had a Pro Bowl roster on both sides of the ball.

Ron could be a good D coordinator for a rookie HC that would benefit from his experience in the big seat.

Don't you live in California?  Why are you buying dank off the street?  There's all kinds of additives and impurities in it.

The entire coaching staff should be and stay terminated.

  7. I dunno why - was in high school and college (i.e., prime drinking years) during Gibbs 1, but I prefer an offensive head coach.  More than that though, I want a guy who:  1) motivates men into battle and commands (no pun), not demands, their respect; 2) has a good sense for the flow of a game; 3) clock effing management; 4) knows when to hold 'em, knows when to fold 'em, knows when to kick for 1, knows when to go for it on 4th.  And who won't cut the punter to send a message.

  8. Our OL is so bad that we could draft an entire starting line with our 2nd through 6th picks (that'd be 2x2, 2x3, 4).  Draft our QB guy at 2.  Keep Sam and start him while the rookie OL gells (which will be better than what Sam had here last year), and then transition over to the new guy as circumstances dictate.  (If Howell somehow manages to do well, stay with him and let the rook learn the old-fashioned way and if he falters, new guy.)  Hogs 3.0  Do it.

  9. “Ladd is a great guy" - I can hear Oingo Boingo singing this.

We're at #2.  We're not going to spend any additional draft capital in a draft where 3 QBs will probably go 1, 2, 3.  Heck, there may be a 4th at 4.  That's a pretty good position to be in.  We can still buy/draft protection and assets.  I wouldn't spend 1 pick on D unless it's OMFGthisguyfelltous???

Well, that would have been nice this year.

Commanders vs. Panthers. The one game I’d feel confident we could win.

That is a dumb idea.  Why would the players give a squat?  It would be a scrimmage at best and a PP&K competition at worst.

  11. Peters will have the benefit of millions of mock ES drafts, including the ones where we repeatedly trade down 2 or 3 spots in the first round until we have no 1st round pick but a majority of 3rd and 4th rounders.  "With its 1st of 15 3rd round picks, the Washington Commanders select, not an injured guard, not an overrated, undersized linebacker, and certainly not a long snapper but [ ]"
