  1. Broner returns to the ring this fall in his hometown in a very winnable fight. But with AB who the hell knows these days.. Now Team Broner is still chomping at the bit for a rematch with Shawn Porter. Team Porter (more specifically papa Kenny) doesn't see a real need or demand for a rematch. Team Broner is insisting the rematch be scheduled for early next year. I feel like with the right offer on the table, they'd take the rematch in a heartbeat. The problem is how do you guarantee Team Porter enough money without being burned in the end. Broner will sell tickets regardless but can this rematch be built up and sold enough to force the general public to want to watch again. Strong possibility being as though it seems like now more than ever people will tune in just to watch AB take a sure ass whopping. But we'll see if they can add enough 0's to the offer sheet to force Papa Porter to change his mind.
  2. Let's talk Keith One Time Thurman. I'm a Keith Thurman fan.. and I understand his standpoint on Errol Spence. But it's hard not to come off as scared when you say you need $10mil to fight him yet you're in talks right now with a much lesser opponent for a lot less money. So is Errol Spence really a $10mill fighter in his eyes or is Thurman just pricing himself out of the fight?? I personally think Spence can beat Thurman. Thurman is nice but as far as sills go, I think Spence is a clear cut above. The only benefit of the doubt I give Thurman is level of competition in each man's respective careers thus far. But Thurman is a pretty intelligent dude by all accounts. He's no dummy and he knows Spence is NO pushover. He'll have his hands full and he understands that. Thurman believes, at this stage, it's not worth the risk. High-risk, low reward. In that regard I must say I agree with Thurman. But damn would this be a good fight to see. Easily could be built up and sold as ppv. Would be one of the most anticipated of the year, easily.
  3. Another big fight on tap for next year is Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev. This will of course be on ppv. Fight will take place once Kovalev is successful against Pascal which is of course a non-ppv bout.
  4. Ok let's talk Manny Pacquiao. Can't remember if I told you guys or if this was just a discussion I had with a couple people but the plan was for Manny to return at the end of this year to face Vargas. That fell thru because HBO rejected Bob Arum's request to make this a ppv bout. So it was back to the drawing board. Now we have Manny Pacquiao vs Amir Khan in Jan on ppv. As I just mentioned above, there was no Al Haymon involvement with this one. Khan has gone back to letting his dad run the business side of his boxing career. So far, I hear Manny is on tap for two big ppv's next year. He has Khan in January then if successful, he gets fed to Terrance Crawford; in which would likely be his farewell fight. I'm sure Arum is looking at this fight as more of a "passing of the torch" for Top Rank.
  5. Look out for Tim Bradley vs Brandon Rios. Here's the plan with this one. If Canelo is successful with Cotto, then the winner of Bradley-Rios goes to 154 to face Canelo. So if eveything works out as planned, you'll see Canelo-Bradley next year on ppv. Tentatively scheduled for Apr/May but they really, really want to do this one on Cinco de Mayo weekend. They seem pretty certain about this one. They don't even have a back up opponent in mind right now for Canelo.
  6. Amir Khan upset he didn't get Mayweather as promised. Word is he talked himself out of the fight after repeated warnings to keep quiet. Khan has officially decided to part ways with Al Haymon.
  7. Rigo-Loma both agree to terms for fight later this year/early next year. Now working out small details such as date, venue, etc.. EDIT: Hearing fight will take place Nov 7th
  8. Agreed, we definitely had a great year of boxing and closing out the year with a bang. From what I'm hearing, 2016 will trump 2015 in terms of match making and fights for the fans. Speaking of which, there is some light talking right now between Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev. Adonis Stevenson's team has agreed on a 50/50 split with Kovalev but would like for the highest pay tv network to show the fight. Team Kovalev said they will not let any other network then HBO have the fight. Team Stevenson responded by saying "We will fight on HBO if they outbid everyone else". So there's that. We'll see how this plays out. Hope something gets worked out bc this is a fight a lot of people would pay to see. But let's talk Adonis Stevenson for a sec. His next opponent is Tommy Karpancy. The same Tommy Karpancy who took a loss against Cleverly, a loss to Murat, was stopped by Fontara... His last win was against a man with 26 losses... How the flying **** did he get a title shot?!!
  9. There's corruption in all sports. You're naive if u believe otherwise. It's just more front and center in boxing for various reasons. Dumbs down the sport tho.
  10. Boxing Scene is reporting that CBS is trying to negotiate a 3 fight deal with Floyd Mayweather to continue his career on the network. Mayweather is guaranteed $30M for his next fight which is the last of his contract. CBS/Showtime is trying to prevent rival network HBO from holding Mayweather's 50th fight. CBS wil guarantee Floyd more money pre fight. This could be the reason Floyd's fight has not yet been announced. If they strike a deal then Berto would be on CBS free tv Sept 12, 2015 and fighters like Amir Khan, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia would be in line to face him or a possible rematch with Manny Pacquiao in late 2016.
  11. Is Adrien Broner vs Steve Upsher a bad fight for Broner??
  12. After all the back n forth it's officially Berto. Now the question is PPV or PBC....
  13. Hearing whispers of Brook-Heerden and also Wilder-Wawrzyk. I hate both of these fights and hope neither gets made. Heerden is at least ranked pretty high by the IBF so Brook has somewhat of a small excuse. For Wilder, this is complete garbage. Again, I hate both fights and hope both are just rumors.
  14. But in better news, I hear Lomachenko isn't pleased with the "ducker" tag being attached to his name. Supposedly is set to "demand" Arum goes back to the negotiation table with Hyde to make the Rigo fight a reality. Interested to see where this goes.
  15. In my hilarious news of the day: Berto, yes Andre Berto is THE person holding up Floyd's announcement. Why?? Because he himself wants to announce the fight on the Shots App. Floyd refused. Now Berto is said to be "weighing his options". I'm crying laughing right now.
  16. Official. PBC on CBS 9/12/15
  17. Also hearing Garcia was offered a list of 6 names for Chino's comeback fight including Guerrero and Porter. But I'm guessing they'll have to edit that list as Maidana would have to literally kill himself to make weight for any of those.
  18. This is unofficial but word out of Garcia's gym is that Garcia asked Maidana to step on the scale and send him a pic. The scale read 209.4 lbs LOL Chino was already one of the bigger WWs in the division but I think it's safe to say he can kiss the 147lb division goodbye.
  19. Broner said to be back in the ring Oct 3rd so that means that undercard rematch is no-go. Heard Kenny Porter said they wont offer them enough money to make that happen. Maidana will be back in the US next month to start training. He previously stated he "lost his passion for the sport" (coincidentally after 3 straight career pay days in a row lol) and is coming back to work with Garcia to see if he "still got it". I've seen recent pics of Maidana. No way in hell he fights at 147 again without at least 6-8 months of hardcore training. He's huge!! Glad Team Porter stuck to their guns and rejected the immediate rematch.
  20. Loma-Rigo fight off. I was told Arum wanted no part of this from the jump. But I fig'd once he stacked the deck against Rigo like he did, he'd go ahead and push it thru as Loma had every clear advantage in his favor during negotiations. Then after Rigo agrees to all terms, Loma decides to back out. I'm starting to lose a lil respect for Loma. Not sure if it's him or Arum but it looks bad that this seems like a recurring theme. This is the same thing that happened when Loma was in negotiations with Nicholas Walters (a fight that I would slightly favor Loma to win). The terms were there, all in Loma's favor, then at the 11th hour, reject the deal. It looks real bad on Loma. Taking all easy fights but ducking the actual names in the division. Waay too early in his career for this. If it is him, then he's in the wrong sport. If it's not him but instead Arum pulling all the strings here, then I'm not surprised. Arum has definitely done this before and has been doing it for years. Rigo has reached out to Scott Quigg for a fight later this year. Unclear if it will indeed happen as Quigg is in talks to fight Donaire. Rigo insists he's willing to fight him at @26 and will fly overseas to let Quigg get home turf advantage. I doubt Hearn feeds Quigg to the wolves as Donaire would be the easier fight. Guillermo Rigondeaux continues to be one of the most avoided fighters in the sport.
  21. Don knows there's no shame for any fighter to lose to Floyd. Will actually help more than hurt.
  22. Serious talks on going for Porter-Broner 2 on the 9/12 Mayweather card
  23. Seems to have shook the cobwebs, settled in, made a few adjustments and doing a lot better.
  24. Yea definitely not impressed. Maybe it's the pressure of this being his 1st fight here.
