  1. Broner still has a lot of time to mature in & out of the ring. But as far as his skill level, Broner is very talented and seems to have a high boxing IQ. Under the right tutelage, he can become great. I thought Broner looked stronger @47 but the extra weight seems to have negated his offense just a little bit. He didnt seem as light and quick as he normally does. Broner will be a good 147lb fighter soon but I think it just may serve him best to hang around the 140 division for a few fights before steppin up to WW
  2. Guess I had my Crystal Ball with me today
  3. Looking for an exciting fight tonight between Malignaggi and Broner!! When the fight was first announced, I can admit, I wasn't too interested. "Another easy win for Broner" is what I was thinking. But the build up for this fight has been nothing short of outstanding. If it were PPV these two def should have had an opportunity to do their own All-Access. I think Paulie is a little more slick and crafty but he has no power on his punches. Broner will definitely try to out-muscle him even though Paulie's considered the bigger man. I probably have to give Broner a slight edge in hand speed. Both boxers have a high boxing IQ which always makes for an interesting fight. There will be down times where each fighter will wanna wait and counter and there will be times where they slug it out. Either way, I'm looking for a good fight. Nonetheless I got Broner by Split Decision
  4. I'm thinking Mikey Garcia has a shot at p4p king, although it might be hard to get attention at the weight he fights. Actually Andre Ward should be holding down the top spot p4p but he only fights once every 5 years.
  5. I've been telling anyone who would listen for the past year or so BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ERROL SPENCE. He's the next big thing. Within the nxt few years, Errol will hold the throne at welterweight/middleweight and boxing p4p after Floyd retires. Guarantee.
  6. Exactly. There is a 40% tax rate for foreign athletes. So it actually is very smart. But even with the lower tax rate in China, Manny still has Bob Arum's hands so deep in his pockets, Bob is scratching Manny's ankles (one of the biggest reasons why Floyd left Arum, as did ODH, as did Cotto). Manny should have left a long time ago. The whole argument about the earnings came from the point I was making about Floyd's marketing ploy. He uses this whole "villain" thing knowing that he'll have his supports and detractors but both will pay equally to watch him of course each for different reasons. Either way he's become the highest paid athlete on Earth. Pacquiao too has many supporters and detractors; only difference is his supporters pay to watch him fight, his detractors just wont pay at all.
  7. LOL no sorry buddy Bob Arum leads fans to believe Pacquiao takes on all comers. Do a lil research for yourself and you'll be surprised what you come up with. As far a exciting goes, Manny is naturally a more "exciting" fighter because he's a come-forward style puncher with below avg defensive skills. The avg fan will find Mayweather's style boring because of his defense-first style with top-notch counter punching skills. You have to really appreciate the intricacies of the sport or you'll definitely not be a fan of Floyd's style. As far as being likable outside the ring, Mayweather def can be annoying as hell sometimes with his "villain" image while Manny gives off a very humble image and usually says all the right things. So I agree Manny wins the most likable between the two outside the ring. But because of Floyd's marketing ploy he's managed to push himself to the top of the income chain w/o a close second while nice guy Manny still searches for ways to make even half the fight night purse Floyd rakes in (not to mention ppv). Manny is even trying to duel it out in other countries to avoid US taxes because he just isnt bringing in sadly what he feels he's worth.
  8. Firstly, you have to know there are several writers who make their life's work of bashing Mayweather, Paul Magno is definitely one of those writers. 90% of everything he produces is anti-mayweather so when I first clicked on the article I instantly saw the author and already knew what time it was. But to your point, I def agree about the hypocrisy and contradiction, etc but that's only going to make me keep asking the same question I have been asking "At what point do you draw the line?" I dont believe: a) Pacquiao gets this much flack for his catchweight demands (in fact, his victories seem to be more glorified) b )Pacquiao would actually never, ever, ever step foot in the ring with a fighter of Canelo's size and agree to deduct only 2lbs c) Mayweather wouldn't be catching this much flack if Canelo was actually fighting at his natural weight rather than shrinking himself to be a 54lber which he clearly is not. If he were fighting at Super Middleweight (which he very well should be) and this fight were made at a catchweight nobody with good sense would really care. But people seem blinded by the fact that Alvarez fights at Junior Middle instead of Super Middle where he should be. So to keep asking the redundant question of whether or not he has a belt at Jr MW is pointless because he was clearly outweighed in those fights by fighters who actually BELONG in that weight class. But you have a fighter who struggles to make that weight solely to gain advantage over his opponents and Floyd is bashed for being in a position to NOT fall for the fried icecream..
  9. Still a catchweight any way you wanna look at it. Manny made Oscar come down to 47, knowing full well he'd be a dead man walking, while Manny clearly already had intentions on fighting at WW on a permanent basis. Also I wont sit here and say 2lbs isnt that big of a deal but for somebody who walks around upwards of 180 and has to shrink himself to 54, it is a big deal. But this is my hope just to silence the critics: I hope on Sept 13th Canelo steps on the scale at 155 or 56 and take what ever contractual penalty they have set. That way he has a CLEAR weight advantage which totally voids all talk of this 2lb catchweight nonsense. Then after Floyd destroys this overgrown kid, what will the critics say?
  10. Just to answer your first question off the top of my head I will tell you Paq also proposed a catchweight for Oscar DLH and Antonia Margarito. As for your 2nd question, Floyd didnt request that catchweight, Marquez did.
  11. Manny was known as the catchweight king because his "big" fights he damanded catchweights. Floyd has never had a problem giving up a few pounds but again I ask Where do you draw the line? I won't call Floyd catchweight king because he has shown on multiple occassions he doesnt need catchweights to win a title. Manny has not.
  12. Seriously? I mean lets look at the facts here: Cotto never fought above Welterweight until AFTER the Pacquiao fight. Manny fought De Le Hoya @147 (sadly a weight he'd last made over a decade prior) yet he decided to drain Cotto to a catchweight of 145. After that fight is when Cotto realized he would never fight below 54 again. Manny offered Cotto the rematch at a catchweight of 150, Cotto declined and instead fought Floyd at 54. Right now Cotto's avg fight night weight is 160 and he campaigns at 154. Canelo campaigns at 154 with an avg fight night weight around 172, nearly 20lbs heavier than his weight class. Floyd walks around @147. Fights at 47 and generally weighs 47 on fight night. Yet and still he didnt flex his muscle and insist that Canelo come to 47 or there is no fight. He made the fight closer to 54 than 47 which is still commendable given the circumstances. So once again, how many other fighters can you name that would be comfortable giving up 20+ lbs with their belts on the line? I understand what you're saying about the clear contradiction but Floyd fighting Canelo with no catchweight would be equivalent to Floyd fighting Ward w/o one. It just doesn't make sense. I mean somewhere you must draw the line. I understand the whole "fight at comfortable weight" thing but like I said, where do you draw the line? If one of the Klitschko brothers also decided to hop on the "let's call out Mayweather and get a big pay day" bandwagon should Mayweather also accept and fight at their "comfortable weight"?
  13. Yes he does. Yet he's never even come close to weighing in at the 154lb limit and even weighed in under the Welterweight limit in his last fight. While Canelo regularly walks in the ring on fight night 170-175lbs so how is giving up 20+ lbs fair in any way? If Floyd were calling out Featherweights and Lightweights he'd be completely destroyed in the media. Yet he gets bashed for trying to make the fight close to fair... What other 147lber would walk into the ring at 149-150 and take on a fighter 170+ ??
  14. This is the same thing I was saying but after a shaky start, he was actually able to turn it around and get a UD. ---------- Post added May-19th-2013 at 12:58 PM ---------- You and me both!!
  15. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/2012/saul-alvarez-says-hes-close-to-finalizing-a-fight-with-mayweather-jr/ A lot of speculation but we'll never be 100% sure til Mayweather's side makes an official announcement. ---------- Post added December-26th-2012 at 02:09 PM ---------- http://fighthype.com/news/article13766.html

  19. I usually dnt read long posts cuz they nvr seem to hold my attention but i read evry songle word of this 1. It jus made alotta sense and the points the OP made were flawless opinions backd up by factual information. GREAT READ!!
  20. I kno ALOT of ppl will prolly disagree w/me 4 sayin this but I really believe that it would be a smart move for the organization to go ahead in see wht they can get for Rock Cartwright. As much as I luv Rock, I jus feel like his time is up as a Redskin. Even though he seems to be one of the most devoted Redskins at heart, I feel like his role on the team as a SpecTeams ace and 3rd-string RB can be replaced by one of these bright, young players who have alot more upside (like Marcus Mason). The only thing that would be hard to replace if we let him go wuld b his role in the locker room and as an emotional leader. Like I said before, I really luv Rock and I kno alot of ppl will disagree with this but i jus think it would be in the Skins' best interest to let him go.
