  1. I got VERY thick skin, I won't go running to a mod. And why if anyone says anything the least bit critical of Mayweather, they're automatically is labeled a hater? Not everybody who's a critic of Mayweather is a hater.

SVP just had a very good reply to being called a hater. "Hater is just a weak-minded reply to someone who brings up legitimate criticism of someone that someone else like."

Not one time did I label you a hater. I simply said love and hate will come along with great achievement. Never once did I direct anything at you.

And while I def agree in some ways to that definition of hater, it really doesn't apply to you at all.

  2. I get it, you love you some SU. Does Cotto even fight outside of NYC? I wonder why?

And one more question. Why are you Mayweather fans so obsessed with the amount of $ he makes? I mean, is he sending you guys any of it. Seriously, I see this on every site when Mayweather is discussed. Me personally, I could care less what any of them make. I just want to see the best fight the best, especially if you're gonna charge $70.

I won't even respond to your first statement because I don't feel like getting banned but to your point about the obsession, i believe it may be the fact that he's the highest paid athlete in the world. That is the goal and he achieved it, period. Same obsession with Oprah's money or even Bill Gates. When you set out to do something and then you are at the pinnacle of the financial point of your profession, you will def have fans and haters no matter who you are. Call it obsession or what ever you want.

  3. You guys really believe Cotto is a bigger star than Alverez right now? No way. When was the last time Cotto even had a meaningful win?

Just because you don't agree doesn't make anything I said silly. You just don't think deep enough.

And you really believe he got all his money up front? And you call me silly? I hardly doubt CBS/SHO is that stupid to just give him $200M for him to pull in lackluster PPV numbers.

And even though I haven't seen the contract, I'm willing to bet you that CBS/SHO(as in all contracts)has an out clause for whatever reason.

Of course he doesn't get it up front. The whole point as the fact that as long as he fights twice a year, he'll get a huge payday twice a year with residual checks on the back end from ppv. The contract only voids if Floyd either retires or goes back to jail.

As much as I respect SU's opinion and perspective, unlike him I def won't even begin to waste my time arguing that nonsense. Next subject please.

  5. Lol...Wait a minute. I thought when I said some of his PPV numbers were due to a stacked card, virtually everyone said I didn't know what I was talking about. Now we have both Schaefer and Floyd himself BEGGING Broner and the man they made a fool out of, Khan, to be on Floyd's undercard?

But seriously, if Pacquiao takes care of business on April 12 and Floyd does what Floyd usually does and the PPV numbers aren't great, Floyd will be in the position of needing Pacquiao more than Pacquiao needing Floyd. Who would have thought that was possible a year ago?

Even if Floyd only does 500,000, he's put himself in a position to trick CBS into giving him a guaranteed contract for 6 fights. No matter who he fights or what his numbers are, he's paid bro. Only task is for Showtime & CBS to actually try to trick the public into thinking they have good, quality, competitive opponents for Floyd to fight each time out so we all buy the ppv. That way, everybody is paid and everybody is happy.

Bottom line, no my friend, no Mayweather does not or will ever "need" Manny Pacquiao.

  6. I think Cotto is the biggest star after Floyd & Pac, although Canelo will pass him in the next year or so.

Being an established star and carrying ppv's are two entirely different things. Pac went from close to 1mil buys everytime out to 350k with Rios. That makes it a bad number.

Canelo getting 350k his first time carrying a PPV, means that people will pay good money to see him fight, that makes it a good number. Plenty of popular fighters who won't crack even half of that numbers if you put them on PPV (i.e. Kirland, Kovalev, etc.)

Pac had his reasons for fighting in China. he can't choose to fight there, then use it as an excuse when the numbers turn up bad. Even though it was in China, it still came on the usual time for a PPV in the states. Its not like people had to watch it live at 11am in the states.

Cotto is not as big as Alvarez is right now. Case and point, what did Cotto/May do compared to Alvarez/May?

DM you usually make some CRAZY arguments and I've come to expect that out of you by now. But this is by far one of the craziest points you've ever tried to make.

SU as one of (if not the) most knowledgable boxing fans on this site, I can't believe of all DMs silly points you picked this one to actually waste your time arguing.

  7. Jeff Mayweather is by far the sanest Mayweather. That's probably why he's the least famous.

It's a shame because TR has some very good fighters that would benefit from being on a Pacquiao undercard.

With that being said, Arum isn't entirely wrong. People pay to see the main event.

Yep like one of my fav fighters in the sport right now, Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Yea you're right but I mean if people have to shell out the money to see the fight, the least you could do is give them a good show up until.

Manny's numbers have been terrible as of late; probably wouldn't hurt to try something different with the most prized fighter in his stable. Even though the undercard barely moves the view-needle, I've never heard of a stacked card causing a droppage in the ppv buys. There are a lot of factors why Manny's numbers are low right now but it wouldn't hurt at all to stack the card once or twice and see what happens.

Golden Boy is really killing it with these stacked cards. Setting the bar pretty high these days.

  8. Would be amazing cards, definitely worth $60. Gotta have a solid co-feautre (because May-Maidana is weak on paper and loaded cards is the future I think)

Nope. According to Bob The GodFather Arum, Why stack the card..Who the hell pays attention to the undercard any way??

  9. And why is Canelo/Angulo on PPV? Canelo loses virtually every round to Mayweather and now he's a PPV fighter? I hope that fight flops.

Canelo definitely has the tools to become a major star in this sport.

  10. I agree that either fight would be relatively easy. But I think Khan would give him more trouble in the early rounds. I can see Floyd picking Maidana apart for 12 rds. As for the buyrates, I think Khan has a bigger following if you go by his Twitter followers compared to Maidana's. Either way, I think this PPV will do under a million buys.

Not sure twitter followers is the best way to determine a following.

I agree about the PPV number though, I don't think he does a million with either fighter. 800k-900k seems more appropriate.

Haven't really seen official numbers from the Guerrero fight but the worst I've heard is 850k. If Floyd did 850k w/him he can do 1 mill with either of these two guys. Problem is, his posturing is wasting away precious promotional time. I think this will ultimately have some affect on the final numbers.

  11. Amir Khan Tweets Floyd Mayweather Has Chosen Marcos Maidana For May 3 Fight.

    http://www.mlive.com/mayweather/index.ssf/2014/02/amir_khan_tweets_floyd_mayweat.html

I could have swore Khan won that poll.

Khan won the poll on Mayweather's own website after a late Twitter plea to his fans because Maidana had been winning the whole time. But Maidana won every single other poll on other credible sites like ESPN.com, etc.. so maybe that's where the conflict comes in.

  12. Well, I was under the impression that since Khan won the poll on FLOYD'S website, he would be the opponent. What's the holdup?

Lol so was I bro. You might wanna ask Floyd Mayweather, Al Haymon, and Leonard Ellerbe; they can probably give you a much better answer than I can.

  13. I have a question and anyone with any knowledge of the situation please feel free to answer:

With the Pac-Bradley contract for the 4/12/14 date having already been signed by both fighters (including the signing of a Top Rank contract extension for Bradley), tour dates already set, promotion already fully underway, and the actual fight only 2 months away,

WHY IN THE WORLD ARE THERE STILL NEGOTIATIONS ONGOING FOR DRUG TESTING??

I just don't understand how this makes any sense, help please...

  14.

And people always use the "cold war" copout. I thought Mayweather was his own boss and he and he alone decides who he fights.

Just because the man is his own boss doesn't mean he can sit at the table and negotiate a contract with his shadow. It takes two to tango. Plus Manny and Bradley have inked a date for 4/12 which takes them off the table for 5/3. Maybe this can be re-visited in Sept; however, I wouldn't hold my breath

  15. I don't see why that's doubtful. No one wants to see Mayweather/Khan. They would lose money on that PPV. Maidana, right now, is hot.

Yep. makes a **** load of sense which is why i said it's a possibility. I said doubtful because sure Maidana is hot but Khan is still the much bigger draw. Also, Maidana is contractually obligated to Broner (at Broner's discretion) because of the rematch clause placed in their fight contract.

But Broner could go head and give Floyd the 'OK' since there are technically no new contracts signed yet to make the fight official. But I can somehow see Shaefer finding a way to squeeze this on the May undercard.
