  1. Without some government involvement, who pays for the uninsured if they are in a bad accident and they have to be air lifted to the hospital and have limbs amputated? No government involvement seems pretty third world to me.
  2. Do NBA draft trades make much sense for loading picks to "build" talent? It seems to me that it works better in the NFL because there more players on the field and even the non-starters have a significant impact in the games. In the NBA, with only 5 starters and usually 1 or 2 other guys getting decent playing time in a game, doesn't it make sense to stay put and draft a guy you think will have an impact immediately? If you drop down and pick up two guys who are #5 and #6 on your bench, I just don't see the benefit there.
  3. So the top 3-4 players that should go off the board are: Davis MKG Drummond Beal Is that the common thought?
  4. I'm not a very frequent visitor to this thread but with the lottery tonight I am intrigued. I don't know who this Wittman guy is beyond "leading" the team to 6 wins finishing the season. I don't understand how some of you are okay with having a stopgap coach for a year; then bringing in someone else long term and still have a rebuilding plan in place. Not sure what other sport that works in...rebuilding a team around temporary coaches. Maybe Basketball is different these days?
  5. When is the lottery, right before the championship series right?
  6. I hate the lottery. There's no guarantee that any player is going to be a superstar. We thought Wall would be able to carry us more by now than he has been able to. He's inconsistent and I think some of us question his will to become great. If we finish the season with the 2nd worst schedule, but draw the #6th pic, that's a sham.
  7. Where do the good NBA coaches come from these days? We tried an assistant in Eddie Jordan - who I think was prematurely let go when he didn't have much to work with. Flip Saunders had history in the league and was a bust. Do we go after another assistant?
  8. Although unnecessarily rude, especially considering these last few weeks on this thread in my few posts I have expressed ignorance and am trying to figure them out....Good point about the fast breaks off blocks. It also does get the fans and team energized from blocks. Most everyone here thinks he would be a great pick, and acknowledging my lack of knowledge on that, I can't debate. I just think we need a guy down low who can score. We really haven't had that in a while. Hopefully he can learn how to put up some points, too.
  9. I'm sorry, didn't mean to insult. I have said that I don't know much about the college players, and have really only watched them in the tournament. I see Robinson's all around game similar to Dwight Howard, and we need someone who can put up 15 points and come down with 12 boards. We have so much inconsistency with scoring and rebounding. As for MKG, I never said he feeds off Davis' Brilliance. I just don't know how he would be without another big man down low like Davis, and vice versa. Robinson seems to do it down low by himself, and looks like he takes up a lot of the paint with his long arms. Do you want Davis if he gives you 12 PPG and 6-8 blocks a game? We can't say that those 6-8 blocks would account for 16 points, as some of those blocked shots may not have even been a score. But, as I have said before, I don't watch college basketball except for the tournament. I also haven't watched the Wizards this year. I live in Florida and don't have the NBA TV thing this year. I look at box scores, read articles or what people post. I don't know as much as you guys who watch. Go gentle on me, I am just here to learn more.
  10. I don't want Davis at #1 or #2. I'd rather have Robinson and then MKG. Robinson fights. He is only 6'9" but he has a big frame. I still wonder if MKG is a biproduct of having Davis on his team.
  11. Possible Wizard picks playing tonight? Davis? MKG? Robinson? Are Davis and MKG better than advertised because they have each other to feed off of? Do they need another big man counterpart to excel in the NBA? Robinson is intriguing to me because he is from DC.
  12. Only because I am trying to learn everyone better...but looking at his game long he hasn't shot over 20 times since March 3rd, when he put up 31 points. He's probably closer to 14-17 shots per game. And if he is putting up 20+ points with those 15+ shots, then all power to him. That would mean he's probably shooting about 40-45% from the field and making free throws. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jordan_crawford/game_by_game_stats.html Grant it, I haven't watched the games...just trying to read articles and learn about the roster. But he seems to be doing pretty well the last few weeks. And tonight, it looks like he's helping the Wizards with 50% shooting and 12 points at half time. He can only continue to develop, right? Looks like PF/C seems to be more important to help out Seraphin/Nene.
  13. I apologize for my ignorance. I have been one of those "casual" fans for quite some time now. Probably since we had Howard and Webber, as we haven't really been competetive in a very long time. I will glance at box scores once in a while. Having said that, I really wanted to get interested after we drafted Wall. But his rookie year was up and down, and the team as a whole was boring to watch. This year I wanted them to do well again, but they started horrible and haven't been able to find any consistent scorer. So I am trying to amp up my interest again, while watching the March Madness. For those of you who watch the Wizards regularly, what position will we target with our top 5 pick (hopefully..)? Blatche hasn't really developed this year, he has probably regressed. I like what I have seen out of Crawford, but he really should be a backup guard, we don't have a scoring shooting guard right now. Vesely looks like he could develop into something special, but give the man more minutes! Are you guys feeling the same way, that we need an impact scorer? Someone who can be a threat anytime he has the ball? Do we need a big guy down low that can score, and not just block, rebound "decently? I would love to have a big guy down low to go with Nene. Anthony Davis, F, Kentucky - I don't like freshman coming out, but this guy is impressive. Averages a double/double for his freshman year! He doesn't take a lot of shots though, his point total is higher because he gets a lot of free throws, which says good things about his aggressiveness with the ball. Thomas Robinson, F, Kansas - Born in DC, averages a double/double for his 2011/2012 season. Very solid in march madness so far.
  14. thertv.eu works but its poor quality on 1920x1080 resolution. it's not HD stream, but it's clear at its native and has no ads in fullscreen. Anyone have an HD stream ??
  15. Absolutely. $20 for every game that I can watch live and I replay. Let's not overlook that once the game is in rewind mode, it skips commercial breaks. Love it. Did wonders for me to watch other rookies or players for my Fantasy Football too.
  16. $20 is a cheap price to pay to watch the team you love. If you are really concerned about money, stop paying over $70 a month at least on whatever cable provider you use and buy an HD Antenna to stream OTA local programming. Keep your Internet plan (all you need is about 12mbps) and pay a friend with DirectTV NFL ticket $50 to upgrade to to-go. With all the streaming capabilities and newsgroups, I happily cancelled my TV service and won't go back.
