Such an odd game. 8 sacks from the defense,
the offense is moving the ball, averaging 5 yards a carry.
Yet nothing to show for it. Down 14-12. Baffled

We have to blitz this week to have a chance. Geno will hold onto the ball to try to make a big play and if we give him time he will.
According to pro football reference, the Washington Commanders are 13th overall( out of 32) in blitz percentage, at 25.8 percent.Honestly, I’m actually shocked, because the eye ball test from watching games, appears predominantly that JDR rushes 4 and drops 7 constantly( which I suppose statistically has some validity- since 75 percent of the time, he opts not to blitz).
Before looking up the actual statistics, I was sure the Commanders were near the bottom, league wide, in terms of blitzing. Apparently that’s not quite the case.
But also indicates the current trend of NFL defensive philosophy. Teams are blitzing less, and favoring having as many possible players in coverage.

Exactly. Like a “Tyler Polumbus” type prospect.- 1

45 is not late 40’s.
believe me when I say you’ll know when you get to your late 40’s.
It’s worse when you feel the late 40’s fatigue at 32….But red meat tastes so good and I refuse to accept any counter arguments.

Eh, just wait for another uncapped season, and dump all of the unsuccessful contracts then.
Definitely worked last time

Emotional high after a win is true, but I know the smart thing is to lose games but play well while you lose and today we did that.
I want that top pick because it either means you get the top QB or you trade it for 3 #1s and now you have 2 first round picks for the next three years.
Not a definitive plan for success but these wins are meaningless, the team isn’t good.
“but I know the smart thing is to lose games but play well while you lose and today we did that.”I understand that sentiment, but that’s an unlikely scenario. If you lose a game, It’s likely you didn’t play well, or “show” well.
But I do agree with the overall principle- you have to resort to the extremes of the bell curve.
You have to fail pretty badly to stock and accumulate generational talent( at least it gives you a higher likelihood of doing so).
However, that’s difficult to accept, then this sport is played once a week, and fans live and die on every singular play.
I imagine if you asked most fans, today, on this message board, whether they would have preferred to win, or lose( because it might put us in a position to strengthen an build out future)- most people would say they’d prefer the win. Because of the emotional build-up of a weekly played sport.
I probably would have preferred a win too, even though I know it might affect this franchise's future. We‘re human.

Respectable loss. Better than a win that will just put you at mediocrity
That’s perhaps the sensible reaction, removing emotion. However, I’m quite certain you would have been thrilled- like all of us- with a Commander victory today over the Eagles. That’s why we do this, once a week.

It’s close, but you can’t quite give up on a season with 5 losses, in terms of making drastic coaching and roster decisions.
However, next week’s loss, can and certainly should seal that fate, decision wise.

Lost the game.
But I said this last week: ****ing play Jamison Crowder
it’s so obvious

I believe the lack of pressure is 100 percent due to scheme
I think Jack could blitz a bit more, but four first round draft picks, should generate some pressure. Fairly consistently…. at least theoretically

Nope
It’s mostly on Terry. Professional receivers catch both passes. The ball placement could be better, but both passes hit him in the hands and chest. He has to catch them- 2

Bad throw

Terry has immunity, I get that. But that’s two terrible drops, that were catchable. No excuse

This game is 99% on coaching.
This game is 97 percent on the players. Our “vaunted” d-line doesn’t get pressure. And the secondary makes baffling coverage mistakes.- 1

He’s damn good. But, he literally shoved Forbes out of the way to make the catch.
If Forbes, did the same action, he’s flagged for pass interference. It has to go both ways.
Otherwise, how the **** are you supposed to play CB in the league. It’s impossible.

Hard to find to much fault in the offense stalling backed up in their own end zone, But….
our second half offense always seems to whither away, when we have a lead. Have to be aggressive

He wasn’t late on the pass.
It was perhaps a tad under thrown…. But, that’s being nit picky. Good throw, good catch -
EB’s struggling with an absurd amount of play-sheets. I’m certain at least one of them was a Paisano’s menu, slipped under his house door.
Minds well try anything at this point

A win’s a win, even if it’s losing -
Despite the absurdity of the line, and Howell, we do need to get some big chunk plays. Somehow.
hopefully EB can call something proficient.

The o-line would certainly mind that playcall.
very little faith Sam would be protected for all 7 steps of that drop back.
conceptually, I love it
