  1. And the Wiz have tons of cap space in the near future. :)

What do you think off Melo? We have the room to add him and still give extensions to McGee and Young I believe.

    Wall/Hinrich

    Arenas/Young

    Anthony/Martin/Gee

    Blatche/Booker

    McGee/Seraphin

Definitely not a bad fantasy lineup but I'm not sure how it would actually mesh on the court. But still, the thought of a trio of Wall, Anthony and McGee for the next 5-8 years is pretty enticing.

  2. McGee's last few games. :)

I'm saying it, he'll be the 2nd best center in the league after Dwight Howard. Wall and McGee is going to be an absolutely dominant pairing.

I'm loving Nick Young as well. He's finally playing up to his skill set. Scoring the hell out of the ball and using his athleticism on the defensive end.

This team is going to be a force one day. Too much skill, too much athleticism. I hate on Ernie a lot, but I think he might have a plan. I'm even getting excited about Trevor Booker. He does little things that are very necessary to have on a winning squad. I'd love to see him develop a three point shot. I think he has the ability, he's shown nice form on his jumper.

  3. That's looking pretty good at the moment.

Atlanta made a huge mistake in bringing back Joe Johnson. It was a damned if they did, damned if they didn't type of a thing so I don't blame them. IMO they need to make a decision between Josh Smith and Al Horford. Horford is not a C and Smith is not a SF. Both are natural PF's and one has to go. I'd rather let Horford go.

I gotta say though, Andray Blatche makes me sick.

I'm getting there. He really stinks it up for the the first three quarters of every game. He showed up again in the fourth but man his defense is horrendous. It's not even that he's incapable of defending, he just looks lazy out there on the defensive end.

Also, did anyone realize this is the final year of McGee's contract? If he keeps this up, he'll make himself some money.

McGee has another year left after this one. He had a team option that was picked up.

BTW, **** Elton Brand. What a loser.

  4. I don't think Noah is what we want Javale to be. For as much defensive potential in McGee, he has that much on the offensive end too. The guy will be impossible to defend if he develops some variety of a hook shot or if he can get a respectable 15 foot jumper which he can use to pump fake. There really isn't a center in the league who can match up with him athletically besides Dwight Howard.

That's what I think his potential is. Being the 2nd best center in the league behind DH12. The ability to block, rebound, change shots in the paint, run the fast break, finish around the rim.... McGee has it all. He just needed time and experience and it's all coming together now. Besides Howard, I wouldn't trade McGee for any other center.

  5. Do I need to be concerned about Wall a all? Or they just taking it really really slow (which I am 100% fine with). I just thought he would be out 1 game . . . seems to just keep going.

He warmed up tonight along with Yi but they took a last second precaution and kept him out. By all accounts he will be ready by Tuesday.

I'm more worried about Josh Howard. We aren't hearing much on his end.

Charlie V. couldn't have abused Blatche anymore in the first. I'm really starting to get pissed off at this guy.

  6. Brave, you might be right that this team is turning the corner. Nick Young has gone from a useless bust to being recognized by Flip as our best bench scorer and a top 3 defender on this team. His defense has improved significantly.

McGee is getting better each and every game. It's almost getting to the point where if his progress continues he won't be a liability on the court but a huge asset. Gilbert is finally getting in a rhythm.

Hell even Trevor Brooker impressed me last night. He was hustling out there last night and he sets one hell of a pick. Wouldn't be bad as a utility guy off the bench.

Like you said earlier about Blatche, I agree that he needs a bit more time to get his health and conditioning straightened out but IMO he's running out of time. Soon it will no longer be an excuse.

I don't know when the wins will start showing up but the youth movement is taking shape. Exciting times for this franchise.

  7. What areas do you think we should target in the draft and free agency next year? I've been thinking about this from playing NBA2K11 and having to scout college players. I've been targeting SG's just because opponents SG's absolutely kill me on defense in games. Rip almost put up 40 on me last night.

I want us to make a move for Marc Gasol. Pair Gasol and McGee together as the 1a/1b center pairing. The biggest downfall of this team right now is inexperience to close out games and rebounding and tough paint defense. McGee has picked up his rebounding big time but we still need a load in the paint, someone like Gasol. We have no big men who can really get the others in foul trouble.

The biggest thing is experience though. I'm really interested in seeing how McGee develops in an 82 game season with 25-30 minutes every night. He's already made such huge improvements in 11 games. Scary to think what he could become if he continues this progress.

  8. I like having Hinrich on this team. In general I really like our guard rotation. Nick Young has been playing really well on both ends of the floor this year. Wall, Hinrich, Arenas and Young is as good a backcourt you can ask for right now.

McGee is really really impressing me. Man he gets his help defense under control and the sky is the limit. This team can be really really good with a tough gritty front line. With the way Blatche is playing, I'm not sure he has a future on that. I'll give him another week or two to start playing with more energy.

  9. Is it just me or does Blatche look far less defined this year? Last year he was cut. This year he looks softer, and I mean that both in terms of being in shape and in his play style. I haven't gotten to see much of the Wizards yet this year, but I've caught a few min of 3 of the games thus far.

    Am I imagining things?

Nah, Blatche is definitely not in shape right now. He missed about two months worth of conditioning due to a broken foot over the offseason. I think he returned back on the court in September. He's will working to get back in shape but he's played well so far this year.averaging 17 and 8 with decent shooting numbers. His efficiency will go up as he gets in shape and gets used to playing with Wall and Gilbert (who he didn't play with last year)
