  1. Middelsbrough sign striker/winger Viktor Fischer from Ajax for £3.8 million. Really surprised he was available for so cheap, espcially when nowadays being under 23 and in a top league adds 5 million straight off the bat. Saw him live end of last season good talent. Good movement off the ball and a player who is dangerous running with the ball.

On paper that seems like a really good deal.  I'm interested to see how Jordan Rhodes does in the Premiership with them.

  2. Joey Barton. In the Okd Fiirm game.

Thats a defo red this sesson then. Along with all the Cathooic gypos he'll wind up and have baying for his blood.

Yep.  Very angry man.  Him sucker punching Morten Gamst Pedersen a while back made him hated in Blackburn, and then signing with Burnley...those comments make a grown man blush.

  3. This weekend for the English Football League playoff finals.

    Hull vs Sheffield Wednesday

    Barnsley vs Millwall

    Wimbledon vs Plymouth

Tough on the 2nd Division choice as I have a soft spot for Plymouth and I like Akinfenwa at Wimbledon.  Rather Barnsley over Millwall and I really don't care about the Championship one.  I guess Wednesday since it's been longer since they've been in the top flight.

  4. How did y'all come to pick the Euro clubs you root for? I personally have trouble finding a stake in a team that's playing on a completely different continent. I mean, I can understand it to an extent, certai

Similar to Mr. Pinstripe, just different club.  I started following Blackburn because of Brad Friedel and they stuck

  5. That's where MLS confuses me.

Aern't the different 'conferences' are just for aesthetic  view as you play the same number of games against every team and have one big final table don't you?

Kind of, but there's still the playoffs which are set up along conference lines as well.

Not Dallas like in gridiron football?

Dallas is only DC's main rival in football.  Every other sport we're in completely different conferences so there's no chance to build up a rivalry really.

  7. Just remember... they played football before 1992.  If you don't count that for Liverpool, you can't count that for the Redskins.

Blackburn was beastly pre WWI so do please count before '92.

And this is yet another reason to swerve the Daily Third Reich. West Ham fans take 'souvenirs' from the last game at Upton Park. But L'pool fans 'steal' their ol' main stand seats.

    Double standard Southern Press ****bags!

Difference in you staying at Anfield while West Ham not?  Though I have heard of the north/south divide and bias.

And Big Sam does it again.  Say what you want about the guy and his tactics, but he just keeps teams up.

  8. Got my first degree from a community college out in the sticks (Warrenton, Winchester, don't ask why). There was a plethora of home schooled kids. Always had them in my dumbass group assignments (I hate group projects. Lazy teaching, waste of time, utter bull****). I was spending entire semesters, multiple times a week meeting them outside of class. Nicest people you could meet. And every single one was awkward as all hell. Same time, I was working at a Domino's. Two brothers and a sister there (one was a manager, the other two were insiders). Again, nice as you could want. They'd help you with anything (the sister was actually in Japan during the earthquake/tidal wave doing missionary work.) And again, all three were awkward. It's like their adolescence started started a decade too late and they're socially stunted, if that makes sense.

I went to that school, too, and might know some of those folks.  I know what you're saying, but at the same time, super nice but awkward doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world. ;)

  9. Had NO idea Paul Lambert was down there.  I guess I should've, wasn't he your manager when we met in the FA Cup last year?

I think at that time watching matches felt more like a chore for me.

    Hang in there, brother.

    Thank you, sir.

Lambert's only been in charge for about half a season, little more.  Before that it was Gary Bowyer, who I still think doesn't get enough credit from the fanbase.  Those games were definitely hard Route 1, so I understand that.  Not generally totally our style since Big Sam has left, though when out of ideas that's what pretty much every one of our manager's has resorted to.  I guess that's what happens, though.

I randomly get that stupid song stuck in my head from time to time.  Usually when my boys are playing with the bubble machine.

  10. So, Rovers win the last two games after Lambert announced his departure, looking rather good in the process.  Lot of good it does now.

A local Blackburn group has offered to purchase 51% of the club, letting Venky's keep the other 49%.  Doubt it goes anywhere.  I've really tried sticking up for these folks but they've left me nothing to say on their behalf.

  11. Congrats to Leicester.  Awesome story.

So shortly after I posted the other day (or something) Paul Lambert decided to resign at the end of the season.  I'm not sure if I'm upset at him or the owners or everyone right now.  It's shambolic.  I just don't understand why they'd hire him without financial backing.  They've backed everyone else they've had in charge, so why not him?  And if they weren't then why sack Bowyer?  Did Lambert really just use Blackburn as a stepping stone to get back in the public light, as he's now tipped for the Celtic job?  I dunno, but I'm just frustrated and bummed.

  12. I agree. They tried to fix it with financial fair play, but that was a joke.

Really it just locks teams into where they are.  And the bigger the club the less likely punishments are going to be hard felt.

However, good news, Blackburn are safe from relegation.  Now we'll see if Paul Lambert walks if the owners don't talk to him soon...

  13. I've not been able to watch any of the matches of late, sadly.  I have a general question, though.  Is part of the problem that a lot of our main talent is now in MLS where the competition isn't necessarily as stout, or is that just a buzz topic?

  14. Good win to my Leeds comrades over us the other day.  Our fixture congestion has been terrible, but our form has been up and down.

Going back to the bad chants...Burnley constantly sing about Jack Walker being dead.  But then they got upset that Blackburn fans were going to wear dust masks into their stadium.
