At face value, it surely SEEMS like predatory behavior by people in power. At the very least, we shouldn’t vote people into office who abuse their power to manipulate those in lower standing than him/her.

This kind of thing happens every single game. Further, we don’t even mind. In fact... we encourage it. How many times have the refs missed a call and then called something later on that wasn’t as egregious? How many times have we had 3 calls against us in one period, only to have it evened out in the next? How about “letting the boys play”?

Its all about controlling the game, or rather the excitement of the game. It happens every single game from every single official.

From an outsider's perspective, he just seems like a foil. He is a democrat that comes from a conservative state so naturally, he has some conservative values compared to democrat congressmen who come from liberal states. When it's a 50-50 tie, having him on board is important. So the truly progressive initiatives probably won't pass and democrats will look weaker because of him.
