  1. Thanks so much for your advice in this thread. I really appreciate it. I am going to check out repairpal.com. And yes, my husband flipped out when I told him the price. I'm just really frustrated because this is one area of my life where I am seriously at the mercy of others because I don't know jack about cars. I get the feeling that I'm getting screwed, but then I don't know for sure, don't know mechanics in our new town, don't know anything. My dad lives halfway across the country so he's not able to help much, and I really feel like a totally dumb blonde being taken advantage of, and I'm majorly frustrated. And of course my car is stalling more and more. After it has been sitting overnight or for several hours, it starts fine. And I usually make it to my destination. But if it's only been sitting for 20 min.-1 hour or so, most of the time it takes about 5 minutes for the cranking to turn over (about 6-10 tries). Then it will stall out when I stop at a stop light and take a few minutes to turn back on, then onto the next stoplight and stall out. I'm so frustrated I can only laugh anymore about this. It worked fine when I came back from Africa (where my husband had only used it to drive a couple miles to practice maybe once every week or two) , for a good 2 and a half weeks, no stalling or anything. Now it's almost a daily basis. Anyway, going to look for a mechanic here in Co. Springs because the Ford dealership, well, I pretty much feel like going postal on them at this point for not taking my claims seriously about this bullcrap and for charging me up the butt. By the way, when this happened in November, they said it was the fuel pump and replaced it, for a ridiculous fee, but it started acting up again about 3 -4 weeks later whereupon I took it back in and they pretty much told me they couldn't find anything wrong at all (...and gave off the impression that it was all in my head or I couldn't drive the car right or something). I left for 3 months so since the car was getting no use, there weren't problems. Now that I've been back about 5 weeks, the problem is returning. So, after this long-winded rant, one of my questions is, do you think I should stay with the dealership since they've been following this problem (albeit not doing jack crap to help), or should I just try someone totally new? EDIT: Nevermind. I found an auto shop on repairpal.com that has good reviews. Read through the problems that people making reviews had come in for and it sounds like they are good at pinpointing problems, which this is going to need. None of this hooking it up to a computer bull**** and "oh, the computer doesn't detect anything, so it's fine, here'r your keys miss." I know I've just gotten totally hosed enough already, so new shop it will be.
  2. Yeah, I get glimpses of him, when he was coaching on TUF actually, where I can see he's probably a good guy. I actually thought he was a good coach on TUF. I don't know, something about him rubs me the wrong way though. Whatever, I'm sure if I hung out with him ever I'd totally change my tune like I have on a lot of wrestlers. But like I said in one of my previous posts, it takes me a while to warm up to wrestlers personalities, it's really weird and I can't explain it, lol. That being said, I'll never like Matt Hughes, never. I have always pegged him as an ass and the times I've met him and talked to him, he's only confirmed that he's a pompous ass. Great wrestler and welterweight UFC fighter though and I respect him for that. Another anomaly that I can't explain is why I like Brock Lesnar. I don't know, I think the dude's hilarious. I probably would hate him too if my husband hadn't told me stories about what the guy's really like and convinced me a lot of the crap he does is for show. I don't know, the guy's antics crack me up though. So yes, there is no rhyme or reason as to who I like and dislike You sound as confused as me, Chac!
  3. Yeah, I agree with you. And yes, while I don't dislike GSP's personality like I dislike Rashad's, but I do hate it when he smothers opponents and doesn't do much to gain position. Although, I will say, I do not think GSP does it at all in the same manner and to the extent that it was done in the fight last night. But I will admit that I sometimes get frustrated watching GSP's fights on occasion. I don't think there is ONE thing about that guy that doesn't piss me off. This just adds to the list of things I hate about Bisping.
  4. Rampage is hilarious, and he was way fun to watch in Pride and even when he was first brought over to the UFC. Although, even though I like the dude, he pissed me off last night as it was pretty evident that his "time off" (making the movie in Hollywood) very much detracted from his training, he came in fat as hell and had way too much weight to lose prior to the fight...gassing out and not being able to finish Rashad when he was in the perfect position to do so. Anywho, now that he's back, hopefully he'll refocus on training and getting into proper shape and we'll be able to see him kick some ass in the octagon...because I like the guy and don't like being annoyed with him Rashad, well, he rubs me the wrong way. I was just talking to my husband about it last night because he asked me why. In fact, a lot of wrestlers rub me the wrong way when I first meet them or don't get the chance to know them. Hell, my husband rubbed me the wrong way when I first met him, I thought he was an absolute jerk (for people who may not know, he was a collegiate wrestler and is a current Team USA Greco Roman wrestler). Anyway, thought he was a jerk. Once I got to know him however, found out he's actually a good guy. As I got to know him and his teammates in college, and now his teammates at the OTC, there's a subtle personality pattern that I've picked up on. I call it the "wrestler personality" because they all have it, it's really weird. So many of the guys I dislike when I first meet them, then I get to know them and realize they are good guys. Granted, some of guys end up being complete jackasses and that never changes, but there definitely is a similar personality a lot of these guys have that rub people the wrong way. Rashad definitely has it. Maybe he really is a nice guy, but right now, he just annoys me and I dislike him. That's my long-winded analysis. Thank-you. I'll be here all day.
  5. 1. I am a female 2. I wasn't calling Rashad a biznatch. I said he was fighting like one. I followed up that post with saying that I hate these types of gameplans. Again, not attributing that name to him personally, but to the fight plan of pushing someone up against the octagon fence to tire him out. Multiple times. Having to be separated by the ref. Multiple times. Unfortunately, I think you might have taken my comments more personally than Rashad even would've
  6. I very much agree. I like GSP, but I've gotten really frustrated when he did this in his fights. I was never asking for a KO. Again, I've never said these are ***** fighting. I actually have no problems with clenches, and guards, and shooting, I enjoy them actually. I don't mind watching fighters on the ground in each other's guards angling for certain submissions. That is fun to watch, IMO. What I don't like is pushing someone against a cage fence to smother him, get separated by the ref, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.......
  7. I wanted Rampage to win, but in no way would I consider myself a "Rampage Fan." I have always disliked Rashad and have never really had anything great to say about him. This fight is no different for me. I can't wait to see him versus Shogun.
  8. And there ya go. I think this was echoed by pretty much every OTC wrestler in the room we watched the fight with. And they are biased toward wrestlers, big time. Some of the dudes actually know Rashad, but he didn't gain any respect from them for his "gameplan." IMO, a "technically smart gameplan" is not mutually exclusive from *****-style fighting.
  9. Actually, it doesn't sound pretty stupid. A game plan of pushing someone against the cage for 2 rounds to tire him out is stupid for fans who pay to watch a fight (thank God we didn't pay for that). Sure, I wanted Rampage to win, but I'm annoyed with him (as I am any fighter) who half asses things, comes into training severely overweight and gases out, which is the inevitable result every time fighters and wrestlers pull stunts like that (and any athlete in general). So if you want to say I'm disrespecting Rashad, go ahead. I don't like fighters who push guys up against the fence for the majority of the fight. Just like I hate watching jackass wrestlers who stall. Just like I hate watching guys run from their opponents in the octagon and/or ring. Just like I hate athletes who are getting major paydays who half ass their training, allow themselves to get out of shape and put on a crappy performance. So there you go, I'm disrespecting both fighters, equally...although I actually think I'm more annoyed with Rampage.
  10. Eff Rashad. He's fighting like a little *****. If hate those types of fight plans.
  11. I'd say that reach advantage of Hathaway's pretty much killed Diego. And the fact that Hathaway knew exactly how to fight a southpaw. Oh yeah, and Hathaway's good. I'm proud Ricky never got dominated like that by Hathaway and lost in an SD P.S. Jason Brilz has one MESSED UP NOSE. Holy crap.
  12. Well, they are charging me $830 at the Ford dealership. I pretty much want to shoot myself right now. How much should this actually cost? (Yeah, I know I'm getting screwed...luckily, my dad is footing the bill because he wants me to go to the dealership to get it done because he thinks that's the best for the moment since I don't know anyone...).
  13. So, the verdict with my car in regards to the overheating issue is that the motor for the cooling fan or something like that is no longer working which is causing the car to overheat. So they are replacing that. Also, the thermostat was damaged in the incident, so they are replacing that as well. No verdict on the engine cutting out issue, as I figured. I have written these suggestions down by you guys and continue to keep my anal retentive log and car work file. If it happens again, I will ask the mechanics if they've tried what you guys have suggested and hope for the best. Oh, and I'll be back in this thread whining about car issue again. Thanks for your help everyone!
  14. No way. A RUSH FEE?!? I would have gone ape****
  15. SkinnedAussie: I forgot to tell you thank-you for your advice. I am going to do that and look on Google ratings to see if I can find someone who I trust. Thank-you very much for your help. I am writing all this down and am going to ask whether they did any of these things when I go in today. As far as the overheating, no, I have never personally witnessed the car overheating. Last summer I had to leave the car at my sister's place in southern California for a couple months and apparently it started overheating with her, so she took it in and got the water pump replaced and it was fine after that. Until yesterday. Other than that, I have never noticed steam or smoke coming out of the tailpipe and I'm pretty observant of my car and if the engine is running roughly or something sounds off, I've always called my dad and/or taken it into a mechanic. As far as where the antifreeze and misc. liquid was leaking from, neither my husband nor I could tell where the leak was coming from....so it'll be interesting to hear what these guys have to say today... Yeah, my dad mentioned the stuck thermostat too... The water pump was replaced this past summer, so unless it is defective, I don't know if it would need to be replaced already. And if it was defective, I would imagine I would have had problems prior to now. And yes, the car stalling out while idling or not starting right away in the parking lot seems to be the big mystery. JustAfan had some good suggestions that I am going to check with the guys at the shop today to see if they've done those things and if not, to get on that ****! I'll let ya'll know what they say today! Thanks so much for all your help guys, your suggestions have given me some hope
  16. Oh, I really have no idea, I know nothing about cars besides the basics of putting gas in, putting oil in, and changing a tire :dunce: I have a 1995 Ford Mustang with a 5.0L V8 engine. 96,000 miles on the car. It's been having issues for a good 6 months now. 1. In November, the engine started cutting out on me when I was stopped at a light or something. It would take me like 3-4 tries to turn the ignition and get the engine to turn over and fire, about 5 minutes total. This always happened when the car was already warmed up. So, the mechanic said it probably was the fuel pump. Got that replaced. 2. About 3 weeks after getting the car back...engine cuts out again on multiple occasions, but not the severity it was prior to getting the fuel pump replaced. I take it back in, they hook it up to the diagnostic computer thingy and it says nothing's wrong with it. So I let the dudes test drive it for a few days, of course, engine never cuts out on them so they think I'm crazy...pretty sure about that. And yes, I'm a chick, but I also know the difference between stalling my car because of my own manual shifting fault and the engine just cutting out when I'm idling at a light. I just want to put that out there because I'm pretty sure the morons at the shop don't think I understand the difference and think I'm crazy. Anyway, they give the car back to me and tell me it's fine. Pissed, I know something's wrong but I don't know what. Of course it starts cutting out on me again at lights and stop signs when I'm idling so I start keeping a log. Everytime it happens, I write down what the fuel level is, how long I ran it before it cut out (usually about 10 minutes, it would usually start acting up on my 3rd or 4th errand stop), etc. It cut out 5 times, but then I was getting ready to head overseas for a few months running around like a crazy person and didn't have time to let those morons take my car again. I figured I could put up with it cutting out on me occasionally...sad that I actually got used to the engine dying at stop lights, me putting my hazards on and waving people around me, writing in my little log, and doing a friggin sudoku puzzle until I can get the engine to turn over again (usually 5-10 min.). 3. I leave soon after this overseas for 3 months and my husband uses the car probably once a week, just to make sure it gets use, and he doesn't have problems, but I don't even know if he really drove it anywhere, maybe around the block. 4. I get back 3 and a half weeks ago and car seems to be fine, besides a little squeaking noise when the engine is running. However, it's not cutting out on me so I don't really care and don't have the money to just take it in when all the systems seem fine. 5. Last week, the stupid thing cut out on me again while I was idling at a stoplight. It took me approx. 8-10 minutes to get it started again. I made an appointment but their only opening was next week. Fine. 6. Today, I go to do a bunch of errands and start smelling something, like hot metal or rubber or something, near the end of my errand run. About 0.5 miles from home, the "check engine" light comes on. I make it home, and call the shop, they say they can move me up to Friday. Pissed off again, I go outside and see green liquid shizz coming out from under my car, antifreeze. Luckily my husband was home and he came out to look at it. He had me back up and took off the cap to the reserve antifreeze tank thing and all this steam and antifreeze came out. Then, he took off the cap to the radiator and more steam. We filled it up with a ton of water, but in the antifreeze reserve tank, one of these cable two-pronged sensor things my husband kind of pulled up and it had some "goo" on it. He said that didn't look "normal," but other than the car maintenance basics like changing the oil, he doesn't know what the hell is going on either. He was wondering out loud if possibly the radiator had a crack, there was a water pump issue, or the radiator needs to be flushed....but like I said, neither of us have an idea. 7. I called the dealership and told them that i wasn't waiting any longer and that I was bringing the car in. It was only a couple miles, but when I got there, there was steam coming out of the hood (yeah, I know I should probably have had it towed there, but I was frustrated and just wanted it to be there, immediately). So, that's the LONG story of my damn car. I'm really frustrated because I am not living near my dad where he can either fix the problem, or know a mechanic who doesn't suck tuna water and won't screw us over. I'm in a new town and seriously feel like I'm getting hosed by these people, either purposefully, or they are just seriously ignorant. I know that this latest problem may not have anything to do with my engine stalling, but I'm still bitter that the engine stalling issue was never completely fixed in the first place. Any suggestions?
  17. How much should a radiator flush cost? Also, are there any national mechanic sites that rate reputable mechanics? You know, like rate your doctor, but rate your mechanic? I'm trying to find an honest mechanic in Colorado Springs because the people at the Ford Dealership here are ****ing bull**** monkey ass ****es.
  18. Sounds like Daley's publicist wrote that apology.
  19. Oh yes, I agree on both fronts: strongly disliking Koscheck (although I found his post fight interview with Joe Rogan hilarious - classless, definitely, but hilarious, yes) and him getting his butt beat by GSP will be entertaining.
  20. And, I would be super excited to watch a Shogun/Silva fight. It would be enjoyable to watch Silva actually have to fight and not dick around for 25 minutes in the cage.
  21. Thank you! Oh yeah, and lol. What a freaking moron. Yeah, I didn't expect him to get kicked out, actually. I expected him to get part or all of his purse taken away and like a 6 month suspension. I don't really care, either way, as long as he was punished. Seriously, after the replays of the "fro blow" and the acting job of Kos, I turned to my husband and asked him: "Do your guys' wrestling coaches all teach you to act like a bunch of friggin babies?" I got a dirty look.
  22. Well, that was a good card. It's the first UFC I've seen in 5 months...nice one to come back to Shogun looked RIDICULOUS. That dude is out of control. I am so glad to see he won in such convincing fashion this time so everyone can just shut the hell up and accept he's the champ. I'd love to see him vs. Silva. Daley...wow. Anyone have a clip of him throwing the late punch? I FREAKING MISSED IT!!! I looked away for one second to answer a question from the waitress and BAM, I hear all this screaming. And of course it wasn't reshown. If anyone can supply me with a gif I'd be eternally grateful That fight was a good fight though. Kos fought a smart, technical fight. Probably boring to some, but I thought it was pretty good (besides the "fro blow" acting schtick, although that was seriously hilarious). I was laughing my butt off when he told Canadians to pretty much **** off in his victory speech. Hahahaha!!! I think the only victory speech I liked better was Lesnar's "I'm gonna drink a Coors" speech. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Oh yeah, and I liked the Belcher win. Lots. Bad night for Canadians
  23. Sebowski - Not to pepper this thread with Tito drama, but I agree with you. A mentally unstable porn star hooked on the latest Hollywood fad drug??? Nooooooo. His version of the event sounds much more convincing to me... As for the Diaz question, he would be beaten handily by GSP IMO... He's a good fighter, but no way he beats GSP in a matchup.
