  1. That's entirely up to Haskins. No one can do it for him.
  2. Also of note that both Zampese and Ramsdell coached together on the same staff with the Rams back in the early 2000s. Wasn't there another coach recently added who tied back to the Rams?
  3. I think the experience grizzled vet would have been Norv Turner had Ron been hired by anyone else other than Dan Snyder. So, you get the son of Norval. Keep the same playbook and add much of the same staff so everyone knows their role from Day 1. But, as you can see for yourself, Ron is starting to surround Scott with seasoned elder positional coaches. Example, Ken Zampese, at 52 with a wealth of experience, so as to limit the amount of stuff on Scott's plate. Could Zampese be given the title of "passing game coordinator" on top of QB coach? I think that's a possibility. Essentially that puts Zampese at the gameplan design and playbook refinement level alongside Scott providing additional "OC" help. Also too, I would not be surprised to see an "senior offensive assistant" added to the coaching staff. Just to throw out a name, John Ramsdell. Going back to Carolina he was added in 2014 and served through the superbowl season. He too would be another qualified offensive mind to add passing game acumen and shoulder responsibility to help young Turner get his sea legs, so to speak. Ramsdell retired from Carolina after the 2015 season and at age 65 may not want to come back. So that's not a forgone conclusion that it would be him, specifically. But adding a senior offensive coach to the staff certainly seems sensible for a 37 year old first time OC. That kind of alleviates the lack of experience.
  4. I want a nickname that kicks in the door and shouts "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum."
  5. All lies wasn't it? Everything you said, lies. There never was a Bootstrap Turner was there?
  6. Fine. Omaha steaks. I need a nickname with pep, zing. That Treblinka (or whatever name) for Turner aint doing it.
  7. Oh, I see. You've got Eli as your posting QB. Phew, I'd hire a new OC if I were you.
  8. What the hell happened to Bootstrap?
  9. One of two things, either Chudz was not Rivera's #1 choice, just like Connell was certainly never Ron's #1, or for Chudz washington and/or Ron were not his #1. There was certainly plenty of time for Ron to have reached out between Dec. 3rd to now to get Chudz lined up. he was free. So, easiest explanation is that neither were each other's #1. I tend to think that both Norv Turner and Chudzinski probably verbally declined an offer, just my thoughts. I certainly think Ron would have reached out to both. That also may very well have included Shurmur as well, declining. It was said that Shurmur was a discussion point for Ron, but it never went beyond that. As noted, Shurmur has other prospects, perhaps and notably with Reid. For Norv, it's easy to see why not wanting to work for Dan ever again makes sense, and leads to declining. As for Ron per Norv, being that Norv was his choice for OC for 2018 & 2019 all the way up to his firing, there's no indication that he would have changed his mind between Dec. 3rd to now. With my supposition that Norv would have likely said "when hell freezes over," to the prospects of working under Dan again, that leads us to Norv's son, the youngin Scott Turner. He still resonates Ron's 2019 staff, still bedrock Norv's offense, as Norv's kid there's a connection back to him anytime you need it, and we roll. With Shula, as it's a part of historical record, he was fired from Carolina while Ron stayed, so there's valid reason to wonder if the Ron relationship was a non starter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'd imagine the depth chart looked something like this: 1. Norv Turner | 2. Pat Shurmur | 3. Rob Chudzinski | 4. Scott Turner | 5. Kevin O'Connell | 6. Mike Shula | 7. Mr. X Verbally declined Strained relationship To me, clearly, O'Connell was never Rivera's #1 as some people ran with and apparently Hoffman fueled. But somehow only in washington football club Land does the #5 guy on the depth chart get reported as "Ron's #1." 😀 Haha.
  10. Country music christians. @TryTheBeal! is big into that along with his buddy Kurt. 😀
  11. You know the source right? That dog isn't crazy, it's shocked to the point that the mainframe has to reboot.
  12. Read my posts like you're siping on a mint julep. Don't project tone onto my posts. I'm as calm as can be and I'm going through logic exercises. Don't know where you're getting "hyped."
  13. See this, I don't buy. If Connell were his #1 choice then he'd be hired right now. That's what it means to be #1. If your #1 is in house and you have no airs of doing better, then why wait? Why interview others like Shurmur after interviewing Connell? Also the idea that Connell is somehow preferable to a candidate like Shurmur, who Ron worked with and who has extensive coordinator and HC experience, comparing their respective resumes side by side, is frankly silly. O'Connell is in no position to dictate terms to Ron Rivera. Considering options? The only upgrade over OC is HC. Are you seriously suggesting that Connell is getting head coaching interest? That would be the only reason to "hold out." I mean just break it down to the simplest elements. The only position that been spoken about in relation to Connell is OC, that's it. So with that in mind, what you're saying is that Connell is not accepting the OC position here from Ron in order to wait and see if the OC position on another team he doesn't know yet might materialize with his buddy mcdaniels. It would still just be the OC position. Again, Connell is in no position to tell Ron to hold on. If anything, holding out means that Connell desperately wants to be hired by mcdaniels as an OC because he's no longer scheduled to be an OC here and would have to accept at best a demotion to stay on Ron's staff. Likewise Tiger. 😉
  14. Who's to say that Connell hasn't already talked to Ron about the mcdaniels thing too? Who's to say that Ron hasn't already told Connell he will explore other options for OC, which he has. That if Ron actually landed his #1, that Connell would not be his OC. I think Connell is simply a contingency plan for Ron, a fall back position in case all his other options fall apart, dry up. And as a common professional courtesy to Connell, Ron decided not to release him from his contract outright, to wait and see if the OC gig materialized for him with McD, see if he does in fact get the sweatheart deal from his friend mcdaniels. Otherwise to release Connell outright and then suddenly the mcdaniels thing doesn't come through, well then Connell just went from having a contract to being unemployed. That actually works for both men. There's no reason for Ron to jettison Connell right now and make the OC opening have any further scrutiny/pressure. Ron easily could have said to connell that any interest he drew for OC outside the org they would not block, that he would be free to explore. But until then both parties are mutually beneficial to each other. So, the idea that Ron has already offered the OC position for this team to Connell and Connell is just like: "yeah, ok Ron, let me get back to you after I hear from my dude mcdaniels on where I'm supposed to be going, or maybe I will decide to go work for Belichick, call you later." No.
  15. There's no mention of timeline or sequence of events. It's all very possible that the blocking had occurred for a period of time. Specific names are hard to get verified. Or they had expiring/expired contracts and didn't need to gain permission. There's really no reason to block the water boy or the quality control guys, like Vincent Rivera, Ron's nephew. Those low level assistants are not of the same wealth of knowledge, or experience, or clout that a high level coach would have. Alongside Fewell, the most valuable and seasoned coach they have would be Norv.
  16. But, holding out would imply that he's noncommittal to this org. Right, "holding out" for something else. Holding out implies one has the power to decide the situation. Only person with power in the org, right now, is Ron. So ... if Connell is waiting for an OC position, and that OC position is supposed to be coming from a different org, stands to reason that the OC position here is ... As per Browns, everything I'vs seen lines McCarthy up as their next HC. The interviews with dallas and ny have just been to leverage his price higher.
  17. That is interesting too that Pat Shurmur worked with Norv Turner on the same staff in Minnesota.
  18. Here again we get affirmation that Ron is looking at a candidate in Shurmur who not only has QB coach experience but also coordinator experience and Head Coaching experience.
  19. Let's get this thread back on track folks. Start posting some graphs, charts ... protractors ... anything that can be useful.
  20. So again with Shurmur there's a connection back to a previous staff working with Ron. They coached together in Philadelphia on Andy Reid's staff. Ron was appointed the LBs coach in philly in 1999, held it through 2003 before getting a DC job offer and going back to his first love team in Chicago. Shurmur was the TEs and o-line coach in philly in 1999, through 2001, then transitioned to QB coach from 2002 - 2008. So, again, Ron and Shurmur were equals in the hierarchy of the coaching staff. TEs / O-line and LBs square off together every day in every single practice. Shurmur would have worked hand in glove against and with Ron during their teeth cutting years. 1999 was Reid's first year as a HC. So both Ron and Shurmur were original staff, year 1, hires by Reid. There's loyalty in that. Oh, and Shurmur is 54 years of age ... so he's Ron's "contemporary" 😀 Btw, just my personal note, TE coaches are some of the smartest coaches on any football team and they often make for excellent head coaches. As it is often said, the positional group right after QB who needs to know the most about every aspect of the offense is TEs. My favorite coach I ever had was a former TE who played at JMU, coached me during youth ball at bryc. He was funny, irreverent, smart and cool.
  21. I'm still trying to figure out Chudzinski being on total radio silence aboard the red october. Usually college jobs get filled about a week or two before the NFL does theirs. Dudes grabbing headlines ahead of the new year when the NFL dominates. It's just weird that he's been out of the league for two years and there's no mention of an official Oregon interview for him as the OC. I guess he could be waiting to see if the NFL comes calling right now for 2020. Perhaps filtering out his ideal job. No idea of his and Ron's relationship. You know speaking of gas in the tank, Chudz would seem to have more than Norv. And personally speaking I just have a hell of a hard time seeing Norv wanting to work for Dan again. I mean major reservations there.
  22. So, Scott started the 2019 season as the QB coach and his dad, old man Norv, was the OC. It wasn't until after Ron was fired that apparently Scott was "promoted" on a trial basis. So, to call him Ron's OC isn't exactly correct. And Scott T was only hired in carolina starting in 2018 as the QB coach, coinciding with his dad's (Norv's) OC title. Presumably, he and his dad are doing what a bunch of father and sons are doing in the NFL these days, working together before the old man hangs them up.
