  1. How does one of the best teams in the AL get 10,000 attendance? Why does one of the best AL teams resort to giving away 20,000 free tickets just to increase attendance? Might as well relocate all MLB teams out of Florida.
  2. I agree except on a more widespread League level, the officiating and lack of defensive rules has really turned me off. I don't think I'll come back to the NBA anytime soon. I still wish Wizards best of luck and hopefully they will be able to sneak into the playoffs or at least show some sign of improvement, 2 abysmal years is enough However to be honest I still see Wizard finishing last as the conference has 1) Stacked and Loaded Heat 2) Perennial playoff contender Atlanta 3) Playoff contending Bobcat 4) Playoff lock Orlando To suggest that Wizards might be better than any is baffling...Maybe Bobcat? But that's it.
  3. I agree However it would be funny if the Braves blew it after their poor start only to seize control and then fall behind "down the stretch" Would like Padres to somehow make playoff as a wild card or a division leader See...people have been talking about how Baseball needs to "expand" playoff but **** that, the Padres have something to play for... If you expand the playoffs you will see teams get lazy and turn it off because they have clinched a spot. I don't want to see that. I want to see 8 and only 8 teams in the playoffs. If you want a playoff spot win your division. The current system gives you extra incentive to whoop other team's butt and get the division championship or a wild card. It's like entry into an elite club. Only the best get in, period. No need to expand the club and let the party crashers in. For instance, who do you put in as a wild card in the AL if you expand? Boston? Oakland? DETROIT? CHICAGO? Those teams DO NOT deserve to go to the playoffs. This is why this model is successful.
  4. Lol Lee Hamilton has a twitter? SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLT Anyway Felix Hernandez no hitter through 7
  5. Joe Torre is stepping down after this season Bye skip http://www.sbnation.com/2010/9/17/1694982/joe-torre-steps-down-dodgers-manager-don-mattingly
  6. You are cool but I was alarmed that you were mocking Mariano so badly Guy is one of the best closers of all time Anyway I'll be back to following baseball tomorrow when all the football takes a break until Saturday
  7. I don't see much reason to hate them Historic championship organization...let's harbor ill will on an organization which had such classy individuals as Derek Jeter, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Roger Maris, etc Even Ruth and Jackson weren't "classy" but they were still great legends of their time Not a big hater of Yankees
  8. Braves blow first place Funny how much you hate the Yankees...is it because they dominate you in the postseason You better hope the Rangers win their first playoff series in franchise history or else
  9. Yay! I still remember I was not a baseball fan back then but that was all over the news when he did that Great moment in MLB history Anyway Giants won again, and Braves lost in 10 Two very tense races going on now, a great end to the MLB season coming down the stretch
  10. http://rhizome.org/editorial/3739 Be warned of profanities
  11. Lol they have a great season and still have 10,000 fans That place has always had attendance issues It's not like the Devil Rays are playing out there, it's a quality franchise now. When is that uber-modern ballpark coming up...maybe I am just imagining things but they had designs for a new ballpark
  12. Yankees spent millions in 2003-2007 and didn't win title, so you can't just throw money at a team and have them win title, as Redskins fans we know this On a related note http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings100826 One of the major arguments against a cap is abuse by small market teams People want it to take down Yankee, Red Sox, and Cub but it wouldn't help the small market teams level the playing field And this article gets me thinking, everyone criticizes NYY for spending massively on payroll, so why doesn't your team try to spend too on payroll instead of hoarding cash like Pittsburgh
  13. Sounds right And I don't understand the Yankee hate even as a Baltimore follower Yes, they are a division rival BUT THEY BUY EVERYONE EVEN THOUGH THE RED SOX CUBS AND OTHER MAJOR MARKET TEAMS ARE GUILTY OF THE SAME TRANSGRESSION If Yankees were only ones buying players, I'd be bitter, but I'm not because other franchises spend 50 mil for the rights to sign a mediocre Japanese pitcher BUT YANKEES ARE THE VILLAINS EVIL
  14. Reds have lost like 1 series since the All-Star break Split 1, lost 1, won the rest
