The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Thursday announced that signing of sought after light heavyweight Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. He will make his Octagon debut on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas against undefeated fighter Lyoto Machida.

“Sokoudjou is an explosive athlete with heavy hands and great judo who is coming off huge back-to-back knockout wins over two top ten guys in Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira,” said UFC president Dana White. “Bringing him in just makes the stacked 205-pound division even stronger, and there are endless great match-ups for him here in the UFC.”

Sokoudjou had been the subject of much speculation as he was reportedly a signature away from consummating a deal with ProElite, Inc. several months ago. More recently, his representatives had been in deep negotiations with K-1 and had expected him to be headed to Japan.

    its official

UFC 79 just got even better :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

  2. I didn't yell "dive," but I think I mumbled "hand-picked opponent." Kimbo hits so hard though, that I didn't feel cheated.

i think Kimbo is in the same boat as Brock Lesnar. They don't have enough experience to be thrown in with a great figher (although lesnar is fighting a former champ in Mir), so they have to be given lower-tiered guys to start with.

I have no problem with Brock or Kimbo getting the lower levels guy to start their official careers with. You have to work you way up the ladder. Its not logical to think (not saying that you are) that they are ready to be in the cage with a great fighter at this point.

  3. I wish the Tank fight would happen, I think that would be a better fight for Kimbo, either way Bas Rutten speaks very highly of Kimbo and his work ethic in the gym, Bas think's he has what it takes to be serious contender and even a champion eventually. That's amazing because Kimbo has never had any formal training before.

the Rutten co-sign is making alot of people less skeptical about Kimbo. Bas is a legend in the sport, so if he sees somethin in Kimbo, people are more willing to give him a fair shot before judging him.

  4. I dunno, that backfist Kimbo's opponent threw was meant to land. Kimbo didn't even react to it besides with a semi-sidestep. If it was staged, Kimbo would have ducked it and attacked. Also, the elbow left a red mark above dude's eyebrow. I think Kimbo is just so daunting that the guy found himself on his fat stomach and realized he was out-powered. That wasn't even something you'd want to make a staged fight look like. People would rather talk about a 3 minute ass-beating than a 19 second tap out due to 2 strikes.

i see what you're saying. Maybe the fight wasn't fixed, but the guy he fought (who was fighting on short notice) definitely wasn't there to fight. He went out like a ***** in my opinion.

  5. Damn Kimbo ended that fight fast, I've never seen a guy go down and tap out after two hits like that. DAMN

that fight damn near looked fixed to be honest. the uppercut hit flush in the body, but the elbow to the head didn't even land squard and the guy tapped before kimbo landed any solid shots. I look forward to seeing Kimbo fight again, but that fight looked staged.

Diaz got ****ed up in the first round

  6. Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson is fighting this Saturday in an EliteXC show. He's fighting Bo Cantrell (10-10).

My opinion on Kimbo is that he has taken great steps towards becoming a legitiment MMA fighter. I read an article on him the other day. He talked about how he was always high during his street fights. He said he hasn't had sex in 4 months, hasn't done weed in a long time, he feels pure and ready for professional fighting. Also, he trains with Bas Rutten, whom I think is one of the best MMA trainers out there. I can't wait to see where this guy can go.

Rutten co-signing him should tell everybody how serious Kimbo is taking his training. I'm not sure how he will do, but it'll be interesting to watch it play out.

  7. Speaking of 'roids, isn't Kevin Randleman allowed to apply for his license again now that it's been a year?

speakin of Randleman, he's suffering from a bad staph infection. sherdog had a thread with pics of the holes in his thigh, **** was disgusting. this guy can't catch a break :(

BJ would rape florian with ease

    that is a disturbing visual.

  9. in Dana's last interview, he called Fedor a "farce" and said he was NEVER top 5.

i usually let dana slide on most of his comments, but he is an idiot. i realize he's just trying to deflate Fedor's perceived impact, but his comments are just disrespectful. as the mouthpiece for the ufc he should have attempt to have some class and respect for fighters that fight for other organizations.

  11. Can anyone else not stand the EliteXC commentators? I like Bernstein for boxing, not so much for MMA. And I really can not stand listening to Stephen Quadros.

Oh well, at least Bill Goldberg is not on tonight.

I do not really like EliteXC, but I will watch it just because I like MMA. But their broadcasters cause me to turn it off every once in a while.

their commentators (outside of bill goldberg) aren't any worse than UFC commentators.

Mike Goldberg knows close to nothing about the sport, and while i like Rogan, he says the exact same **** every fight.
