Seems like the disagreement may have come down to $. Johnson was asking for a giant sum to leave, Commies figured it was posturing and made what they felt was a competitive offer, Johnson surprises them and outright passes. 

BINGO. I mentioned this before it fell apart. $$ would be the only thing to drive it apart and it did.

in all honesty I’m betting you really do have some kind of connection but I’m guessing it’s not one directly involved. Kudos for having the courage to put it out there, and you seemed to learn the lesson on not using words like “lock” and “done deal” given your very last post on the subject. 
 

In other commentary:

 

1. I do not expect that they keep EB. But I do want to stress and reiterate that any scenario where he is kept is nightmare fuel.

 

2. I think we hear Slowik’s name more but if he stunk at his interview then it won’t be him.

 

3. I have a feeling it’s going to be Quinn. And I will be pretty unhappy with that news. If a defensive guy Weaver or Mac are interesting choices. But I’m hoping we open up the search to even more O candidates. 
 

4. I’m not going to join in on the “Johnson is weak!” For the guy deciding he wants to stay where he is. That’s his prerogative and choice. He handled it poorly. I won’t speculate on his reasons.

Looks like this broke down in the last 48 hours. I was wrong about it being definite, and wrong about it happening.. but you better believe that this fell apart over $ like I mentioned before the news came out can happen. Nobody was willing to pay him what he wanted that's what this is. 

My $ is on MM as long as he wants it. Can't assume anymore lol.

It's awesome for us to get a new owner, GM, HC, and franchise QB in 1 year. Almost unheard of. That being said, I can't wait until we have normal discussions about FA and the draft next year.

If it happens I'll be told "everyone knew" and if it doesn't "you made it up". But this stuff is very fluid and the stuff that comes out usually is only 30% of it.

Appreciate that. I am not one step removed from the situation.

Before the process started Macdonald and Johnson were the two guys the FO wanted (Mac was even telling people this job is his). This was an actual process but Ben has been the guy for weeks. They have to hammer out a contract (years and dollars) but both sides want each other and the rest is window dressing and due diligence. 

If Ben isn't the coach it would be a 1/100 type deal, and I'll be here to say I am wrong, but I am telling you it would be a major upset. 

I obviously can't share more than that. This should be wrapped up by Wed Night/ Thursday afternoon.

Ben Johnson will be the next WSH HC. Only quiet because of people like yourself. Also Google what happened in Arizona last year, Harris and Co. are smart, and calculated like keeping Ron throughout the season. 

If it came out that Ben has the job why would these guys interview? Why wouldn't the Lions file tampering charges? Some of you guys still think this ORG is run by Snyder.
