Agree that things can still unfold for Wentz.  But if they have a top 5 pick in this draft I want a QB.  The Eagles are taking advantage of having a cheap QB to build their roster.

Wentz at 28 million at this given time doesn't look like a good bet but my mind is still open.

Cannot judge Wentz with the poor play of the O line yet. He takes his life in his hands on every snap. I did think he would be better than he has shown but it is still early. Desired by every NFL team is a good LOW PAID QB.

The revisionist history on the 2020 draft is so dumb to me. It was Tua or bust. They werent comfortable with the hip. The trade down scenario is far more plausible to talk about.

If you are not taking a QB with the 2nd pick and your team is not good you trade down and get a low #1 and a high 2 and build your O line. If we had done that we would not be in the mess we are in now. CY was overrated. If you watched film on him you would notice he has no moves other than a bull rush and it is without any other hand movement. He was successful in beating linemen from small schools. When he went up against a big ten school vet tackle he got stoned more times than he won. We also had invested in Sweat so why did we need another pass rusher. We had Haskins and I felt management wanted to give him a few years to see if he was any good so I could see us passing on a QB with the #2 pick so there is more reason to trade down.

This game is over. Go back to regular programming. We cannot win with William Jackson as cornerback.

No reason for the CB to turn Lamb over completely as there was no other receiver heading into his zone.  Making Lamb look like Jerry Rice for Christs sake. Even so, our secondary stinks.

From a 50yrSkinsfan you know as well as I do, only 1 person been here for all of it. Dan Snyder. Doesn't matter who he gets to coach, block or tackle, they all suck. Thinking back about 50 years ago, there was a owner of the Steelers who never won anything. The team was a joke since the day old man Rooney won them in a bet. They finished in last place almost every year for like 50 years. Their O linemen were small and slow like the rest of the team. Then all of a sudden they started drafting black players from small black schools that were overlooked by most NFL teams,  compound that with excessive PED use and a dynasty was born and te Steelers won 4 SB in 5 years. Now they still had the same owner. What changed? Answer, he got better players even though he never had anything to do with how he got them and apparently he did not care about the drug use either. Cheers.

where do you think the guys who do the blocking and tackling come from lol

Most come from football programs that they were involved in their whole lives and the should know how to block and tackle by the time they reach the NFL. Stop blaming everyone including the cheerleaders and the beer salesman. If the team is not playing we’ll start blaming the players, lol.

I love the hope. Keep it alive.

They do. Talent being there is helpful. Lack of a franchise level QB is not and Wentz is seen as a league wide joke true or not.

Now… if we bottom out and get the first pick? Yeah. We can snag someone with a ton of potential. But this team never bottoms out in QB years.

We did bottom out when 2 good QBs were available but the brilliant people in charge chose to take a overrated pass rusher instead. Now one of those QBs is lighting it up on the west coast. Then you wonder why we stink year after year, lol.

I don't agree at all.  His coverage versatility is elite and he is absolutely capable of playing man on backs and tight ends.  If you're lining him up to play straight man on outside receivers and jitterbug slot receivers, then that would just be a stupid way to play a safety, not a real limitation for a player of his position.  He is a true safety and can play any role or alignment of the position, including centerfielding.  His instincts and play speed are elite and he makes more plays demonstrating crazy range than any safety who has come out in years.

This is right on. I want him and I do not want to hear any BS from Ron if we have the chance to take him and we pass to take another outside LB that Ron thinks will be the next Ray Lewis. No more reaches with your first pick Ron. PS any safety that can be compared to S Taylor cannot be passed on.

Honestly, at this stage we look asleep at the wheel.

If neither Wagner nor Mathieu land on our roster I will seriously question our FO.

Mock drafts have us getting the safety from ND and I would be happy with that. Far as Wagner, He visited the Rams and I heard nothing. Would be happy with Wentz, Wagner and resign of Mck and a good draft of safety and wr.

True. Scherff signed with Jax. How insulting.

Yep agree. You posted this before FA. And it’s correct. Sadly, moving back from #11 to acquire some more talent may be a necessity.

Maybe so. We ain’t now better, aside from Wentz. How can anyone say they aren’t deeply disappointed with FA. It’s been **** so far.....

Yep that 2023 3rd is a deal breaker isn’t it.

Good ridents to Scherff. Hated the pick when made. Guy was hurt too much for what he was paid and the last straw was watching Parsens blow past him a number of times last year. Ungrateful after what we paid him last year.

I think about all the old pros that played before i was born.  They have better equipment today to protect the players and more penalties to protect them (rightfully so) but they got chicken feed compare to the players today.

When I was a kid the some of the great Yankee players, after coming off 5 straight World Series championships in the 50s, had to work in the off season as salesmen in mens clothing stores. The Yanks wanted to cut Mantle’s pay because his stats did not equal his Triple Crown season the year after. Wow have times changed.

  11. For all you negative fans let me remind you that we did not pass up on a half dozen hof QBs that were falling over each other to come here to take Wentz. You had no shot at Rodgers or Wilson and who else was left? Do you want Jimmy G at more money and picks? No one is thrilled with the QBs in the draft and now we can use the pick to get another top tier receiver.  Wentz has had some real good years without good receivers. I think this is a good move all around as it is a upgrade over TH as all I heard from you guys is that TH does not have a NFL arm.

    WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

    Projected Cap Space: $31.9M (9th)

Notable Free Agents: G Brandon Scherff, DI Tim Settle, T Cornelius Lucas, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, S Bobby McCain

Potential Cuts: DI Matt Ioannidis (saves $6.9 million), S Landon Collins (saves $6.4 million)

    Team Needs: QB, LB, S

Washington is presumably going to pick up a new starting quarterback this offseason, whether it be Jimmy Garoppolo via trade or a rookie at No. 11 overall. In free agency, the Commanders are top-10 in projected cap space, and they should use at least a little bit of that cash at off-ball linebacker. One player to target is De’Vondre Campbell, who is fresh off a breakout with the Packers. Campbell was the second-highest graded player at the position in 2021 and won’t break the bank for Washington if they want him.

Star guard Brandon Scherff is looking for a long-term deal from the team after playing on multiple franchise tags. He’s projected to fetch a three-year, $50 million deal with $30 million guaranteed. Scherff has never produced a sub-70.0 PFF grade in his eight-year NFL career. I wouldn’t put it past the Commanders to shy away from bringing back Scherff considering the injuries as of late and the high price tag, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world to pay the price. He is one of the best guards in the game when healthy.

Think Scherff is a good player but not great esp with the injuries. Lost a lot when trying to block Parsins on a few plays I noticed. Not worth the money he wants. Cut him loose and pick a guard with the 2nd pick.
