The pressure from their Dline would not have been different my guy. I liked the Wentz pick up at the time but man you gotta admit the guy was awful and could not avoid pressure.

Same here on both points. Our Dline has backups playing and our center went out with a leg injury compounding the bad situation. I saw some plays where the nat tackle just bull rushed through our line like it was not there and he was in TH face at the drop of a hat. TH threw the ball with the guy grabbing for him and I am almost sure he had no view of the receiver yet some on here say he stinks because his QB rating was low and he hangs his receivers out to dry. If anyone was hung out to dry it was TH. The guy was under big time pressure the whole game and he has balls to hang in there and I think his performance deserves applause, esp with that 4th down conversion, and not criticism. Eli and Brady would be divIng for the dirt under a lot less pressure. Your team is playing meaningful games in December with a backup QB and a cive of a Oline, be grateful.

I just wanted to quote this for emphasis. Heineke should have thrown a bettwr ball, that was probably why they pulled the flag sigh

I feel like I should be angry but I'm not angry the way Id be if we lost. We just HAVE to crush them at home and I'll feel

It does not matter if the QB throws a good ball or a bad ball. On pass interference a defender cannot stop a receiver from attempting to catch a pass when the ball is in the air. The defender has to play the ball. In the case of the “blown” PI call, the defender put his arm around the receivers neck slowing the receivers ability to come back for a underthrown ball. The defender made “no attempt” to play the ball. Now either that is clear pass interference or at least def holding as you cannot hold a receiver when the ball is in the air which it clearly was. To pick up a flag on a clear penalty out in the open where the ref that threw the flag was facing the play just puts a thought in your head that the game is fixed. Now if the ref did not see the play then fine, he would not throw the flag but throwing the flag proves he saw the play. Picking it up tells me he does not know what he is doing and he should not be a ref. We should be angry as that was a 4 point loss. We kicked a FG instead of getting the ball on the 1 yard line.

Overall, this team is very lucky after yesterday.  Lucky because the Giants Center Feliciano got a taunting penalty that pushed the Giants out of FG range and allowed this team to come back and tie the game.  Lucky that Heinicke didn't fumble after Thibodeaux sacked him near the goal line in OT.  Finally, they're lucky that Gano's FG fell short at the end of OT.

Yes we were lucky but the Nats were even luckier. Please refer to the numerous “no calls” they received.

I vote for the coach gets 1 replay per game to be challenged. This will put a spotlight on the refs to do better. And if an infraction is turned over the ref gets less money for that game.

Also a flag shouldn't be picked up after it is thrown. Refs and fans will need to live with that decision.

A PI flag should not be picked up especially when the ref that threw it was 5 yards in front of the play and the people that overruled it were behind the play and if it was not PI then it should have least been DEF Holding.

I thought I saw 2 occasions where Heinicke took an elbow to the face.  Was that a camera trick and/or did anyone else see that?

I saw TH smacked at least 4 times after he threw the ball and one time right in front of the ref and no call. I saw JA tackled and pulled down forward on his way to the QB. A nat O lineman grabbed our DE from behind on his shoulder pad as he was chasing the QB in the backfield on a long run play that could have been a loss but turned out a big run. I am not a physics expert but can someone tell me how a ball goes 7 yards forward if it was not thrown and the pass rusher did not touch it. Magic most likely. How about the nat WR push off that was so flagrant our CB went backwards 4 yards on the long pass play they had in the first half. What was so ironic was the nat head coach screaming at the ref for a PI call when the ball and his receiver were 4 yds out of bounds, wtf. Yes, when you play the nats in NJ you have to go against the nats and the refs.

He had one amazing drive at the end of the game but played mediocre at best, or crappy at worst for the other 95% of it. He also nearly threw 2 back breaking INTs in the last drive before OT, which would have pretty much ensured a win by NYG. The coaches had so little faith in him not going out and doing it again, that they basically refused to let him pass the ball in OT.

Outside of that last drive, and a nice play for the TD on the 1st drive of the game, it wasn't a great day for him.

He was under extreme pressure in the 2nd half. Saw a few plays where he go roughed and of course, no calls against the Garbage men. One play the D lineman hit him in the head.

I feel like you can trade up from a mid first to 5-10 with a decent price sometimes that can give you a crack at a high ceiling guy.  But yeah, pretty high chance we're doing this for a few years.  I just hope Rivera doesn't spend too much capital going after fool's gold in the meantime.

Please correct me if I am wrong but we only spent cash and no draft capital for CW? Are we off the hook for the #2 for Wentz?

Just based on what I heard… his first step was supposed to be transcendent.

And coming from Ohio state, he was tabbed as better than the Bosas (ie. from a technical aspect).

And I have only seen an incredible first step once…. last preseason against the Pats.

Hes a stout player…. but he’s not quick twitch at all. He doesn’t bend. And he still is under developed in moves and counter moves.

I just don’t see anything special about him. Agree100%. I was against the pick when we made it as I saw nothing special about him when he went up against a decent big 10 starting OT. He has one move, a bull rush and that is fine against a college journeymen O lineman but you need more to beat a plus 300 lb professional OT who gets paid big bucks to stop you.

Chase is the odd man out for me when talking DL retention. In fact I’d let him play 2023 without taking the option up, I don’t see how you can risk that when it guarantees for injury.

Get Payne locked in, then see what return we can get on Sweat. I personally wouldn’t worry too much if he played out 2023 on his option too and we decided thereafter. He doesn’t appear to be a lockdown cornerstone of the future D to me.

Our interior DL strength is far superior to that on the Edge IMO.

Agree 100%. CY has to came back and play lights out imo. He has to be better than Watt from Pitt or has has to go. I was against the pick when we made it and his play along with this season of no production has done nothing to change my mind. Being the 2 pick in the draft he will want ultra big bucks and I do not see any reason to keep him based on his past performance. I thought he would end up like Clooney, going from team to team.

QBs aren't cheap, especially if they aren't on Rookie contracts.

We need to all be on same page any money we get back from cutting Wentz is already spent on his replacement, no eligible to be used elsewhere like the dline.

Why do you think we will spend 28ml on Wentzs’ replacement? If TH plays great and gets us in the playoffs, just pay his salary next year along with the rookie QB you have now. Maybe we learned a valuable lesson with the Wentz signing. Look at Denver. Tons of money and draft capital for Wilson? Dought if we will get a top QB prospect in the draft so what do you do? Am I wrong in thinking we could have had Mariota for peanuts in comparison to the Wentz deal?

Even though you struggle with the quote feature… yes, it was overall bad football from both teams. Washington’s D was good, too, though. Their O was good enough. The OL is horrendous.

They had a running game today so the O line was not too bad after all. Looked like old time football. Team still had too many penalties and mistakes. Yes, I struggle with many things these days and the quote feature is the least of my problems, lol.

He's not wrong, but TH step up or stood in the pocket every time.

He burned them twice and was a couple of slips away from burning the push a 3rd/4th time.

By the way, TH has to get better.  While he's no Doug Flutie, he can't have another first half like he had today.

Guy hasn’t played in a real game in a year, wtf. Guy does not get reps with first team.

That was in no way a defensive struggle between tough, competent defenses. It was a slog of a contest to see which offense was willing to work the hardest to give the game to the other team and for once, we were bested in that category. In the meantime, Farquaad in the owner's box. Not saying our D looked like the 85 Bears but they have looked better the last 2 games. Yes the opposition was not as good but our O stinks putting the D back on the field without rest time after time. John A was a beast and the O line did play better. Takes time in todays NFL to get a team playing well with no preseason and limited workouts.

  14. Hi all. Nice win last nite but what is up with the comments by Tony Gonzales stating our team is “ the JV of the NFL.” He was a good player but as far as I know he never won any substantial games. Ya Tony, flash you rings while you shoot your mouth off. And Al over the hill Michaels complaining about the 2 teams not scoring any TDS. Calling it a “barn burner” when one of the teams kicked a field goal. Go back and look at some of the greatest defensive teams in NFL history and you would see many games like last nite. Some guys  never have enough and they just hang on and hang on like their next paycheck will cure world hunger. Getting sick of people like him and Terry B and a few others. Pack it in and give some younger people a chance for Christs sake.

There have been plenty of opportunities where we could have stocked up in draft capital but we were too stupid or too vengeful to do it.  Got nothing for Kirk, much less than we should have gotten for Trent the list goes on. We just don't have the foresight or the will to trade players that we know won't be in our future plans.  You can't think someone is a building block of the team then proceed to ruin the relationship and ultimately get nothing. Combine that with poor drafting and well there you go.  We never have committed to a rebuild, it's a constant dance of "we're almost there". We've been almost there for 20 years.

Sadly, this is all true and you wonder why we stink?

Wentz gets 10 games to turn it around. Then you have to protect the 2nd round pick. If our record is in the 3-7 neighborhood, cut Wentz to avoid the distraction and start Heinicke the next 3 weeks - tell Howell he's going in after the bye and will get the last 4 games of the season.

^That's what should happen. And it likely aligns with Rivera's incentives to save his job as well - pivoting from the Wentz Experiment to selling Dan on the future with Howell.

Remains to be seen whether that's what happens.

Great plan. Make CapsSkins the GW of the Skins.

Sorry, Make that GM not GW.
