Maybe the school could do a GoFundMe to make up the difference?

How do you know they aren't already trying?

In this specific instance, I don’t.

Having a spouse that teaches in a high school, I can speak to that one directly.

She and I have paid for a helluva lot more lunches than any local churches. Have they tried and been rebuffed?, that’s another question but my cynicism is going to go with “we need another building” and I’m betting if they really pushed the issue, they could.

Maybe it goes to the broader topic of if churches fulfilled the social/societal function as espoused, IE:  take care of poor, infirm, widows, etc, (I know that’s not a quote but you get the gist) then the gov’t wouldn’t be on the hook to bear that burden.

Believe it or not I was in that building this week. Its an amazing masterpiece. I dont know what other word to use to describe it.

Shame its gone. Though i know they know how to restore buildings. Much of that city has been destroyed and rebuild over time. Its a shame it happened but im confidant they will recover it to its former glory and they will definitely not let it lose its history.

Maybe in aesthetics but not in a sense that you can’t recover the history as in the echoes, “ghosts”, hand crafted workmanship from another complete time in history.  It’s hard to fathom what we don’t even know about what went into that structure.  The stained glass alone.....

Is the scaffolding all around the bldg.  That’s going to be a helluva oh ****.  Early money is on smoking with electrical a close 2nd.

And yeah, lol at El Prezo.  Glad he got them off their duffs and doing something....quickly.  Maybe he wants them to save the foundation for the next Trump amusement park

Nobody cares what Avenetti has to say at this point. At first he seemed a good guy but now he's just using that fame to get on the news any way he can to spout off on any topic he can. Sad.

Nobody cared what Canseco had to say either. They sure tried to discredit him though instead of taking him to court.

    wonder why?

And the necessity of said light was downplayed by Boeing so much that the training for the Max series was on an ipad. It is painfully obvious that Boeing knew of the problem and only did half measures to address it even after the first crash. Even after the second they fought to keep them flying all to protect their stock value and sales.

Boeing thought it was so important that they offered an OPTIONAL warning light for $80,000 rather than just installing a ****ing light.

Must have been a helluva board meeting:

Engineer 1, “um, fellas we may have a problem.  This thing goes bat**** crazy sometimes”

suit1, “huh, well that’s no good”

engineer2, “yeah but we got all these extra lights cheap when Radio Shack went under”

    suit1, “I’m listening”

engineer2, “we can just wire em in above the fuzzy dice”

saleshole1, “and we can make them an 80 grand option to tack on my commission, hell yeah”

Nats stadium is best in DC, their food puts the others to shame.  Also got a double shot of whiskey for $15, I was expecting double that

Forgot about that.  Yes, why spend a significant part of the ball game back and forth to the pisser after drinking overpriced freaking Bud Light when for a little more you can actually enjoy sonething decent?

How many occurences have been reported?

There was an optional warning light put in place for a reason.  Wouldn’t it be logical to surmise that somebody must have an inkling prior to the plane being made available if they felt the need to put a “hey your plane is going to throw you into the ground at 500mph” light in place?

of course, said light was optional to the tune of $80k per airframe but is now going to be standard.....

all that to say, call it a hunch but I’m guessing LionAir wasn’t the first time this issue was noted

the nats tryna make a big deal about the new food there like "everyone loves the food at nats park" and "come try our new oyster po boy" but what they DON'T tell you is that it costs 16 dollars

I had a brisket sandwich at the park the other day for 16 dollars

Then I went back for Harper's return to DC and I brought in a sandwich. I paid 16 dollars at my local wegmans and got a bag of cough drops, 2 pizza slices, and a medium sandwich. Then I brought the sandwich into the stadium. You get more for your money when you bring food in, which is permissible in most ballparks

I love the food options at the park but I also go in knowing I’m about to drop $100 bill on it.  I’m sure I could pull it off for less but, meh.

A dozen raw oysters (not sure I’ll be doing that in non R months) were pretty pricey, apps (empanadas and roasted corn) at the restaurant not crazy bad, $8-10 at the Brew House restaurant and a great view of the field.

If you’re going to go hot dog, pass on the foot long and go split and grilled or add a buck and go tricked out Italian sausage.

Figure it’s a given that eating at the ballpark isn’t exactly a cost effective method of sustenance.  The best option is always going to be eat before you come, push away from the ol feedbag for 3 hrs and watch the game.  Invest in a bottomless cup and pack that in your bag ;).

Those assclowns were silent when the game was competitive. It was only it became a blowout did anyone hear them. Kinda like their fanbase in general--silent until Harper does something.

We were directly under the scoreboard, right where the above video was shot.  140 sections were tour bus Phillies fans.   From our perspective it was all Phils, all the time.

There were issues, see above, but meh, seen worse.  I will say, for all their drunkenness, when the time came, they were singing with conviction to the anthem and God Bless America, respectful to the military acknowledgements, breaking into a few USA chants.  Then of course, they went back to revelling in their victory lap.

  9. CM submitted to a frigging crossface (or facecrank depending on your lingo) not a choke.  I've seen no pictures or video that show a rear naked choke sunk in under the chin.

yes, a crossface is......discomforting but it is in no way a choke.

A rematch after tapping to a crossface?.......book it

**and for the record, I wouldn't have minded seeing CM win.  I don't like commies.

This is an aside, but one of the reasons I just haven't been able to follow boxing in a long time is that I couldn't give less of a crap about middle and welter weights.  To me 150 pounds is just not a respectable grown man weight.  I want to see an American renaissance in the heavy weight class before I die.

    Agree, jockey fight.

like watching NASCAR drivers roll around like puppies and call it a fight

  11. (I don't know how to post the actual trailer clip but if anyone would care to help, I'd appreciate it)

Not exactly a high budget film BUT my wife plays one of the principle characters, so there ya go. The film will be premiered locally on January 19th and then go out to theaters, churches and various youth organizations.

It was filmed in Va, W. Va and NJ and It's based on true events. What the heck, Erik Estrada is in it so it's gotta be good. I was mainly there for moral support during the filming but they say it's a faith based film along the lines of "Courageous" (never seen it, just telling you what they say....)

Name of the film is "Finding Faith" and link to the film website is:

  12. '00 Celica, 1.8 liter

turn the key, hear the click of the solenoid. battery checks ok

    changed the starter

now when I attempt to start vehicle, it sounds like the piston from the starter is hitting against the flywheel (i.e.: it's not lined up)

A: since the starter piston is in the retracted position when you install it, is there a way to insure that it will be liined up?

B: is there a way to check the alignment w/out putting all the crap back together?

    C. am I missing something and completely screwed?

  13. so you didn't like the EliteXC "production"?..........guess what

A story came out that Vince McMahon...yes THAT Vince McMahon, is interested in buying the UFC off of the Fertita Brothers. Dana White seems to be involved as well as a possible part owner. The WWE has been in a ratings death spiral and the UFC is getting record ratings with their Spike show and Pay Per Views.

  14. ok, here's my latest project:

    DSCN0265.jpg

    DSCN0264-1.jpg

These are the steps going up to my front porch. They have settled and are not level (the pic w/the level doesn't show but the bubble is pinned to the left) and they are actually causing bricks to be pulled from the side of the house. (that's what tried to show in the 2nd pic. about mid-way up the downspout, you can see the gap where the brick is being pulled out)

Anywho,,,,,the only two ideas I have to fix this are:

1 - dig a trench under the whole mess and attempt to jack it up and then pour a foundation underneath it.

    or

2 - blow the entire mess up and put a wrap-around porch in it's place. However, this option would entail mucho work b/c this thing is solid.

    any other ideas?

  15. When i run too many appliances in my house at the same time, the circuit breaker blows. How do i keep that from happening?

do NOT simply buy a bigger breaker.

not for your average ham and egger, run another circuit and ADD a breaker in your box. This is assuming that you have room in the breaker box.

of course, if you REALLY never want the breaker to blow again, just replace it with a wrench........(**allow me to edit this for those of you that may be a little sarcasmtardy. This is sarcasm. Do NOT do this b/c yes, your appliances will continue to run, HOWEVER there is a distinct possibility that your home may burn down around the wrench....)
