When investment returns significantly exceed the income from working, even for people who really like their job, there is a realization how much tedium and unwanted activity a job really requires of you.
There is such a joy in the freedom of being able to say “nope, not going to do that anymore” to stuff you don’t want to do, and just focus on what interests you.
I can understand people wanting to feel useful
But I don't get why people would want to deal with the politics and bull**** of a 9 to 5 job if they can't help it

I see everyone say they're gonna retire or quit their job, not me lol
I'm still going to work even if I win
Gotta keep that cash flow
Yeah they're called investments. With even $10 million, a 5% ROI per year (current yield for one year US T-bills) is $500k/year.

Total wasted opportunity with two on and no one out … but I can understand letting Santander swing away given Chapman walked the first two on 8 pitches and Santander already having two hits including the homer
Also I think Hyde overmanaged this one. Mateo would have been useful as a pinch runner but swapping out Westburg for O'Hearn early forced him to put him in the field.
I also think he pulled Bradish too early. I mean he had 9 Ks in 4 2/3.
And what happened with that Henderson steal is being debated fairly heavily on OH. It was supposedly a hit and run but Hicks didin't swing because the ball was well out of the zone - hence the "miscommunication" line that Hyde was selling.
OTOH allowing Santander to swing away was undermanaging, but it was pretty understandable given the situation.

I don't ever recall any team ever doing full roster teardown in a single year. Even if you wanted to, it is impractical to cut/trade everyone because of cap hits. You can turn over the roster completely in maybe three years.

I hope this is like 2014. On paper, the Rangers are really good, with established stars with playoff experience. Like Detroit with Scherzer, Verlander and Price pitching vs. Tillman, Wei-Yen Chen, and Bud Norris. Not to mention Detroit had Melky Cabrera, Ian Kinsler, JD Martinez, Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter. OTOH we had what, maybe Adam Jones,
Chris DavisandMatt Wieters? (Machado got hurt right before the playoffs. (Edit: No Chris Davis due to PEDS, and Wieters was hurt early that year, but we did have Nelson Cruz and JJ Hardy) And we swept them, partially because their bullpen sucked (thank you Joba Chamberlin), our starters stepped up, and we were able to do enough damage to their starters.- 1

Its crazy how some teams like the Tampa Bay Rays and even LA Dodgers, still have playoff tickets available, but the Os sold out in like 10 minutes

Headed to the yard tomorrow.
Looks to be a great day and perfect way to end the season

So we just need to win 1 of the next 4 vs. Boston?

Cano strikes out the side for save
I love The Stance

Edit: Sucks about Brooks.
Bradish at 103 pitches. I wonder if they let him pitch the 9th to go for the CG/SO

ND coach has to take the heat for that one. Ran two pass plays which were incomplete with 230 left. May have just run the ball three times p, punted and tOSU would have about a minute left with no timeouts

Ohio State gets stuffed in 3rd and 1 and 4th and inches

Virginia Tech might win two or three games this year. Other than UVA and BC just don’t see any other winnable games

Bullpen could very well be our death in the playoffs.
Need Bautista back and rest of the bullpen to step up

Rays have a day game for you scoreboard watchers.
Our old buddy Armstrong pitching now ..
Its too bad we couldn't hold on to him, he's putting up a 0.74 ERA in 48 IP for the Rays this season

Yea no luck finding 2 seats together in the lower level. Off to the secondary market it is.
Yeah it was all single ticket. Might try for game 2 tomorrow and sell my game 1 ticket
Stubhub is actually not too bad. But then they tack on ridiculous fees. MLB.com was only $5
Edit: well apparently game 2 is already on sale as well, no two tickets together
-
Finally got in, Game 1 ALDS section 6 Row 25. Cost $220, and not with outrageous Stubhub fees
There were cheaper seats but apparently they were snagged up before I could purchase.
I guess I have a somewhat decent shot of getting a foul

Postseason tickets on sale now to the general public at 10 AM (25 minutes).
I'm gonna shoot my shot
If you won the lottery, what would you do?
