Scares me we drafted someone as high as the 3rd round and we don't even know how he's going to contribute. He seems like a play maker, though. He'd probably get far more snaps at WR than RB, given our current stable of players.

WE don't know...I am guessing the coaching staff has some ideas, though.

    I'd wager somebody knows.

I'm certain under a coach-first regime, the players are selected purposefully (with scheme in mind).  Whether it will translate to wins or not remains to be seen, but we've moved on from the disconnect between those shopping for the groceries and those cooking the meal as they are now one in the same.

    Beat me to it lol

The one thing about Charles I think I like is he seems to have owned his mistakes. That usually bodes well.

Feel the same. Listening to his interview on 980, seems sincere. Seems smart. Very young. I think this could be THE pick that really comes through for us (other than #2 obviously)...

  3. For those advocating for KOC because he seems to fit well with Haskins, I think it is more important that he fits with Rivera. Especially considering the direction they are trying to go right now. And he may, I just think Rivera wants to be certain of that.

With our recent rash of injuries at the position maybe it's almost pointless to name starters, or pick guys for positions.

Not to mention Richardson aside, we don't even know if our starters are starter material. We hope all the kids take off but truly think they will need the live arm of Haskins to fully untap their potential. Our WRs are going to be BLANKETED and will need every extra MPH / millisecond quicker release to gain an  extra edge on the obvious #norespect coverage we will face.

The big news is Stevie "Wonder how the hell I made it" Sims Jr stealing that last spot. I hope we use him unpredictably and at least sporadically to keep defenses guessing. I want to see us employ more 10s 1 back 4 wides. Or heck obvious passing downs stop ****ing around and go 5 wide and keep trash away from Keenum's feet.

McLaurin Richardson Sims Quinn + Guice/Davis? coupled with a rollout/mobile pocket to buy time is going to be an awful lot of speed for defenders to cover.

The way this offense is set up for game 1...this is without a doubt the most speed we have had since RG3/Garcon/Jackson...throw in CT on passing downs...there's some opportunity here...

If you cant stay on the field not worth it. Docson was a highly touted prospect along with Malcom Kelly. I always read about how great in camp or practice they were. Nothing but a waste of time.

Well we have seen more from Quinn in actual football games than we have Cam Sims. He actually caught some balls and scored a TD. Cam Sims has missed more NFL games due to injury than Quinn...🤷‍♂️

So our WRs will be 1 mediocre vet who can't stay healthy and a bunch of low round/UDFA guys who have never caught a ball in an NFL game (with one mid rounder thrown in and one exception in Quinn, who has caught 9 balls). This should be...interesting. We could end up with a surprisingly decent group...or the absolute worst in the NFL. We definitely have the most inexperienced squad. I know that everyone is hyped about our young guys and their potential but remember that pretty much none of these guys have gone up against starting DBs in a game, let alone top tier starters. I'm predicting that these young guys will be shut down by opposing teams pretty easily due to their inexperience and lack of elite skills. That's going to cause problems because teams can then stack the box on every down to stop the run game.

Add to that Gruden's conservative play calling and inability to adjust and think our offense could be really really bad this season.

Meh. I think it will be more middle of the road.

Depending on health of course. But Richardson and Quinn are ok. The TEs, when healthy is an above average unit. And Thompson out of the backfield is an above average receiving RB. Now once the Richardson/Quinn/Reed/CT groups start hitting the IR things will get hairy. I am a Harmon fan though, and I think he will be good. I think feel better about the offense going into this season than last. I feel like we have more big play potential with this years WR unit than last years. I’m not as worried about rookie WRs as I used to be. May have something to do with the rules changes, but they seem to acclimate quicker nowadays.

non starter special teamers need to be able to play special teams.  He doesn't

this is very true...our WR group is just pitiful if Richardson and Quinn stay banged up. Reed with another possible concussion. I mean I am huge on Harmon, by all accounts Mclaurin has looked good, Sims and Davis have both flashed...Its a tough situation. I just don't see Docston not making the 53.

Is it weird that people want to cut Josh Doctson (cause he "sucks") for players like Robert Davis based on potential when the two were drafted one year apart and Doctson has over 1100 yards receiving to date while Davis has zero NFL catches? Davis would need 81 catches, 1100 yards, and 8 TDs this year to equal Doctson's production in their first three years combined.

P.S. This isn't meant to be an "attack" on Robert Davis. Davis seems decent enough. I'm mostly pointing out the absurdity of the situation. The team can surely keep both players if they wanted without much issue. It doesn't have to be either/or

I get what you're saying...and agree I don't think we should just cut him. We aren't exactly overloaded at the position. I have no problem having Doctson as a back up. But I do think it's time to stop looking at him as a #1 WR, or a starter in general. I would rather see what the younger guys can do this year. But, if the 3-4 WRs that I feel like could be better than him are all hurt, well yeh you could do worse than Doctson, like uh Brian Quick. I think you need at least one guy on your team that has played significant snaps in his career.

Not a fan at all, and I hope and pray I'm wrong about him. No breakout, let alone a poor breakout age, late overage performer, never a strong market share of the offense. The one thing he has is quality combine performance, but he doesn't have anything else to suggest he'll make it if he didnt produce in college. We'll see, the QB play was awful which could explain the lack of a breakout, but it wouldn't really explain the weak market share and lack of involvement in the offense until he was a significant overage prospect. Hope he proves me totally wrong. I have no problem with that, would be fantastic other than the confusion it would provide, but sports are full of outliers, maybe he'll be one.

Josh Doctson was a 94th percentile breakout age...

I don't necessarily understand how that really works. If a receiver is on a team that has a ton of weapons, that is negatively affecting his future in the NFL? Especially if those weapons are older...

I mean, I do not see Mclaurin as a #1 receiver, and you don't normally get #1 receivers in the 3rd round. He is a good weapon, hopefully.

On the flip side, Kelvin Harmon posted much better in these scores...still only 44th percentile for breakout age, but he was on a team with a lot of weapons his sophomore year, including future steelers RB Jaylen Samuels playing a hybrid TE role and eating up 75 receptions...Harmon still just barely missed the threshold that year.

But i guess it does seem to line up overall. There are a few exceptions, but none that had scores as low as Mclaurin. That is somewhat disheartening.

That's my only concern. I think he may just be an average DC.

What I hope happens, is this defense plays its full potential, and ends up Top 5, then Manusky gets a bunch of credit, and it somehow lands him

    a HC gig.

I think we could easily find a better DC...perhaps one that is currently on our staff.

Manusky get a HC gig? I don't care if we have the best defense of all time, that is not happening.

But, if the D is top 5, why look to change anything?

The way I see it, this year plays out 1 of 2 ways.

    1. The team does well, the Defense is stout, the Offense is good enough, they make the playoffs and the entire coaching staff is back ready to build onto a good season.

    2. The team does not do well, even with the Defense looking good, they don't make the playoffs and everyone is fired. At that point, we actually probably would be attractive for top Coaches, with a young QB, and a young seemingly extremely talented D.

  11. If he gets 10 sacks this year...this Defense will be legit top of the food chain defense. You know Kerrigan is getting his 10+. Having a speed guy like Sweat coming blindside will also help Kerrigan. And you know the beef up front are each going to get their share, and again, Sweat is going to put pressure on QBs to step up. And with the addition Foster and Collins the run D should be stout. All of that should help hide some of the vulnerabilities in coverage. But even with that, if Dunbar is back healthy, which is looking likely, man we could be looking good. We also have a little bit of depth in the front seven now, between Ryan Anderson, Tim Settle and whoever is the back up between Mason/SDH...not super deep but at least 1 deep with real quality at each level.

The other thing is, Sweat doesn't have to be an every down guy to make his impact. Anderson and Sweat could go 50/50 and Sweat would still get his chances to rush the QB.

Saying he'll be cut is bold, because it's an idiotic move and our FO hasn't looked like its normal incompetent self lately.

Saying he'll outshine all the other WRs isnt bold, because we barely have a legitimate starter for him to compete with. :ols:

I couldn't imagine him being cut. I also couldn't imagine the 5th year option being used. So his "value" will come after this season, when someone else picks him up, and we hopefully get a comp pick for him.

Bold statement could be he loses his starting job before the season...
