  1. I initially laughed at the Turiaf acquisition because all I really knew of him was from clips of being an overly-enthusiastic cheerleader....but wow, this guy is GREAT to have on the floor. He's vocal in such a great way that's a real asset to our young squad.

Wizards have to regain their focus for the 2nd half. 2nd quarter was really disappointing....

*Also, it's really lame of our fans to boo Kris Humphries.....for what? Yall putting Kardashian on a pedestal as America's sweetheart? Shoot, we got other herbs in the NBA who mess with some of those chickens on b-ball wives and no one says a thing...let the man live.

  2. Yep' date=' its funny how fast one can realize that we arent even close to a good team.[/quote']

Heat look scary good right now. They are FLYING up and down the floor...no more of that slow-paced offense they were working with last year. On top of it all, the defense is suffocating.

Wiz got their building block in John Wall...but there needs to be A LOT more talent around him to make this thing work.

  3. KG picks his battles VERY wisely. He goes after Euros and others who he thinks won't do anything back. I remember he thought he could get over on Zaza Pachulia, and Pachulia wasn't having it. Anyways...he probably saw the 6'4" gangly Crawford and grouped him with the rest of the guys he "punks." Little did Garnett know that Crawford has a screw loose and would probably hem him up if given the chance.

  4. gross. he doesnt do ****. id rather have tyson chandler :ols:

chandler and mcgee would be a pretty sweet tandem...alley-oops all day from Wall

Of course you'd rather have Tyson Chandler in comparison to Turiaf. However, you're (along with everyone else) is going to be laughing at the contract he gets in a matter of days. He's a good player, but he's going to be SEVERELY overpaid by the Knicks. Turiaf is a high-energy guy....he's a good guy and hopefully some of his professionalism will rub off on Blatche and McGee. Also, he can mentor Seraphin. I'm not expecting much, if anything from Turiaf. He'll play 10-15 minutes of high-energy basketball. Good guy to have on the roster and he was cheap. No biggie.

  5. Three or four times an hour, every hour leading up to the draft, WJFK was playing some promo of callers debating whether to take Wall or Turner. That POS was driving me crazy. No way Wizards fans can be this stupid. Of course they weren't, WJFK was just milking a couple of dumbass calls for all they could--the vast majority wanted Wall. Totally agree with you on Turner's ceiling. He'll be a good player but he will never be a franchise player like Wall. You could see it this year. Turner--a 21-year-old college junior--was leaps and bounds behind the college freshman John Wall. The difference is obvious. One is a future star, the other is a nice piece.

And of course I agree with your assessment of the Eastern conference. Though you did forget our division rivals Miami. I'm curious to see how they shake out after any type of restructuring of the league and how teams do business, i.e. the salary cap and player contracts.

Brain fart in missing Miami LOL...

  6. Exactly. And Wall is the type of player that other players want to play with (see my sig). He's a pass-first PG who loves making his teammates look good, can take over games himself, and has the heart of a champion. He's a winner. Period.

    ---------- Post added October-13th-2011 at 01:40 PM ----------

Can you imagine if we had taken Turner instead of Wall? Because we planned on keeping Gilbert? Thank God they didn't **** that up.

I remember leading up to the draft that there were folks actually advocating the Wizards taking Turner #1 overall....jeez. SMH

Turner's ceiling is Boris Diaw. It's no knock on Turner, but I just don't see him being more than a good #3 option who can facilitate the offense in the half-court.

Going back to the Wizards, DC will be a good FA destination because of Wall. Like you said, he's a pass-first PG and dudes will be clamoring to come here in due time to play with him. I love the young core, call me crazy, but this team will be fighting w. Chicago in 3-4 years as one of the top dogs in the EC. I think squads like Atlanta, Orlando etc. have plateaued...C's will be falling apart (unless they get Dwight), and I'm not sold on Melo/STAT in NY (they'll score in buckets, but until they BOTH commit to defense, it will be more of the same...*overrated...clap, clap, clap, clap.)

  7. I saw a portion of this quote on the BF website:

“The Wizards, they knew me as a basketball player, but they didn’t how I was off the court, how I act,” said Crawford, who joined the Wizards in February after the team made a deadline deal with Atlanta. “That camaraderie off the court is going to help and I think that’s why the [NBA champion Dallas] Mavericks worked so well. If you look at all their interviews, they always said Dirk [Nowitzki] was the best player, without no controversy. They didn’t try to take no shine, so, I think that’s the main thing we’ve got to overcome.”

VERY interesting comments from Crawford. He doesn't specifically call anyone out, but we all know this is Wall's team....but there seems to be a specific "someone" *cough* Dray* who I'm assuming that the quote is directed. This summer he's trying to rehab his image by bringing up his charity trips, working out, organizing team workouts (that no one attended), etc. I swear this team would be 100% better off with him gone. We all know what he can do on the court when focused...but I feel he's an EXTREMELY negative influence to have on this roster. Addition by subtraction if he's gone. I don't care what the return is, this team needs him gone.

  8. Post fight presser....PBF brings up some GREAT points...

*Warning* there are a few curse words, so I guess this is NSFW

I'm not even a Floyd fan, but it seems like a lot of people are letting their emotions/hate get the best of their objectivity. Floyd did NOTHING wrong last night in the way that he KOd Ortiz. If anything, Ortiz was the one fighting dirty. On top of it all, it looked like he gave up and just wanted to collect his check and go home. All that hate towards PBF should be redirected to Ortiz for the act he put on in the ring...

  9. I don't see that happening. I think Booker and Singleton look too much like the same player to me on paper in terms of the role they are going to be playing on the team. Booker is going to have to impress the coach in order to be included in the standard rotation:

    starters:

    McGee

    Blatche

    Lewis

    Young

    Wall

    bench:

    Vesely - Forward

    Crawford - Combo Guard

    Seraphin - Center

    Singleton/Booker - Forward

I don't see a 10 man rotation with three forwards all favoring the 3 and you still have Evans to account for at that position. Depending on who Flip likes as the backup PF between Singleton and Booker I think that player gets most minutes. Once Lewis get injured I'm sure there will be more playing time to go around.

I didn't factor in Evans because I don't think he'll be back. IMO, Singleton is the far superior defensive player (between him and Booker). I think this is where he has an edge. No matter Booker's year experience in being a pro. Singleton is a more versatile defender as well.

Let me ask you...even though he's undersized, is there any situation where Booker can get a few minutes at the 5?

  10. This may sound totally insane, but I've got a feeling that Chris Singleton will be our starter at the 3 to start the season. And Vesely will be the primary back-up at the 3 (and push for some minutes at the 4 over Booker) before Feb....

    McGee/............/Seraphin

    Blatche/Booker/Vesely/Owens

    Singleton/Lewis/Vesely

    Young/Crawford/Jeffers/Mack

    Wall/Crawford/Mack

  11. Agree w. both SM & Vishal...

I'm liking the picks. Sure, I would have preferred Kanter...but we walked away w. Singleton at #18, which is an absolute steal. A guy COMMITTED to playing defense. I love the chip on his shoulder. Training camp is going to be fun to watch because of some of the position battles.

Out of curiosity, is Vesely projected as a 4?

    ***PLEASE take Jeremy Tyler***

OK! Not mad at the Mack pick....

  12. I think the Vesely talk is just a bluff by EG. Usually he keeps his picks close to the vest and minimal info is out regarding WHO the team is going to select. I still believe that the Wizards will do everything in their power to move up into the top-3 (without giving up McGee).

*Another thing...my post count has been stuck on 931 for the past few months LOL

  13. 2012 is when we should target a SF....not this year, and I'm OK w/ passing on Derrick Williams who is adamant about playing the 3. I've seen comparisons from Granger to Al Harrington. I think Williams is going to be a solid pro, but I think we can do just as good or better with our selection next year (assuming we go for a SF in round 1).

Honestly, I think Javale's ceiling is much higher than Tyson's.

I think Javale's defensive potential is that of Tyson Chandler...but he has a much higher overall upside (when you factor in offense).

  14. I posted this before but I think it deserves a repost.

And this is why I don't think it would be too wise to give up on McGee at this point. I compare McGee to Chandler because it took Chandler a little bit of time to figure it all out on the defensive end. McGee is a bit different because IMO he's MUCH further along in his development at 23 than Chandler was. We've seen bone-headed plays from McGee, but we've also seen flashes of brilliance. There's hope with him. He's not a total lost cause. If so, EG & Co. wouldn't be as opposed to dealing him to Minnesota who REALLY wants him. I'm optimistic in the sense that I do believe he'll figure it out sooner, rather than later. Young, athletic bigs are a dime a dozen...

Anyways...let me ask you all. Let's stay we draft Kanter. Where does Blatche fit in the equation? Do the Wizards start Kanter right off the bat at the 4, or does he sit behind Blatche for the time-being until he's moved. I know we've discussed it before, but Blatche on the bench is a no-win situation. He'll probably sulk and not give his all. We want to showcase the guy as much as possible to get him out of here....You gotta figure Blatche see's the writing on the wall if the Wizards take Kanter.

Wall, Williams, and Kanter would be an excellent "big 3" to build around, as it'd give us our playmaker/distributer, slasher/scorer, and post presence. Couple in Crawford and Booker coming in off the bench and we'd be well on our way to returning to the playoffs.

We'd be awful defensively in the front court...there needs to be something else there.
