My prediction is We Want Dallas.

    And We Get Dallas

    Dallas 13

Both of those clips brought tears to my eyes - thanks.  I see people here on ES who say they hate NYG or Philly more than Dallas.  I get it, but for me, there is no team that I hate more than Dallas.  They are the most hyped, get all kinds of accolades, and are generally the most worshipped team around … and I just hate them.

Dr. Fetus here. I saw it from a different angle then you all. I rewound it and viewed from the side of my tv and not straight on. What I saw and what they are reporting is lining up with my belief that he did not tear his ACL. in fact, it was a full on rip, no tear.

unortunately, it will probably have to be amputated. This is my professional opinion from sitting on the couch and viewing my tv at different angles.

    Thanks for listening.

Or, in the worst case scenario, they might need to amputate at the neck, at which point, his season and probably his career would be over.

(that’s what I used to tell my kids sometimes when they got hurt:  “We’ll have to amputate at the neck!”)

Just look at the players we won with yesterday (in addition to our studs) and ask yourself how we did it:

    TH

    Carter (huge plays)

    Seals Jones

    Bates

    Milne

    Humphries

    Patterson

    Sims

    Who'm I missin?

    I think you’re missing:

    - Rob Gronkowski (DNP)

    - Antonio Brown (DNP)

    - Richard Sherman (DNP)

    🙂

  4. It would be quite a stretch for anyone out there who is reading this to say that they didn’t get nervous and have lots of doubts every time Hop went out on the field to kick a field goal or an extra point.  The guy inspired absolutely no confidence that he could make a field goal from anywhere on the field.

  5. fyi, there actually was (at least) one other game played against the Bills in Buffalo which deserves little, if any, mention but is worth bringing up here in this thread.  I can only give an approximate year, which was around 1972 or 1973.

It was a pre-season game (hence not deserving of any real mention), and the Bills had just completed the construction of a new stadium (I believe where they still play today).  This was the inaugural game for that stadium.

The Redskins won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.  Herb Mulkey (a seldom used WR but a return specialist for Washington) took the kickoff and christened the new stadium with a 100+ (?) yard return for a touchdown.  As I recall, Washington won that game.  Maybe someone with access to that piece of history can look up the exact details.

One way the WFT can become an elite team is to couple an elite defense who forces turnovers and shuts the run game down & to pair that with an effective offense who can pound the rock and also a special teams punter who can put your defense is tremendous field position plus luck into a FG kicker who can bang about 90% of his kicks.  Hopkins ain’t that guy!  Why not take a shot in the dark in finding a legit kicker?  Like Graham Gano. D’OH!

Not disagreeing at all that we could use a better kicker.  Was trying to say that I don’t think Nordin is that player (as some in last week’s game day thread were suggesting).

  7. Watching the New England-Philadelphia game at the moment.  By the end of the 1st quarter, New England’s kicker (Nordin) had missed a field goal and a PAT.  This was the guy who a lot in last week’s game day thread were saying Washington should sign when the Patriots’ regular kicker returns.

Be careful what you ask for!!

  9. SB18 was devastating (for me, anyway), but I’m going to cut them a little bit of slack for being full of themselves:  They lost 2 regular-season games that year by a combined total of 2 points!!  Both were one-point losses (to Dallas and to Green Bay - both on MNF, btw).  They had the most prolific offense in the league (set the record for the most points in a regular season).  They were defending Super Biwl champions.  Yeah, they thought they were good - because they were!

Then they got smoked by the Raiders.  It was horrible.

They looked like they were having fun on that show.  Thanks for the video!

  10. Thanks @TrancesWithWolves for the video.  I’m not buying that Darryl Green had “too good of a start” as Cefalo (?) said.  The replay showed that he just beat Woodson from the get-go, but we can’t tell more than that, since the slo-mo didn’t include the audio.  The live shot looked like a legit start to me.

  11. I see what a lot of posters are saying that the NYG have owned us for quite some time now, and while I think we will sweep them this year, I can understand that might not be the case.

Here’s the deal for me, though:  Any team that has Jason Garrett as a head/assistant coach is going to get “vanilla”, which is why I loved it when Jerry Jones would keep extending him as the head coach in Dallas (hated to see that mediocrity come to an end.  I don’t know what to think about McCarthy ...).  Maybe NYG beats us both times this season, but against the rest of the NFL, it seems that a lot of opponents know how to beat a Garrett-run offense.  He’ll have Barkley back and healthy this season, and they’ve certainly added to their offense, but the bottom line is that Garrett is still the OC, and when he was in Dallas running things, they should have been getting deluxe chocolate out of some of those teams and instead they got vanilla.

  12. Seriously, reading those quotes and all posts in this thread brought tears to me eyes. Many thanks for that collection, Mark. I can't think of two other teams (in the NFL, or in any other major professional sport) that has a rivalry as intense as the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry.

And, now, for my two favorite Redskins-Cowboys rivalry quotes:

"And, besides, we don't take money from a Cowboys fan!"
