  1. Crazy rolling kick knockout from a Russian MMA bout:
  2. I see what you mean, but I guess what I'm saying is when I think of Struve, a lot of exciting fights come to mind and I don't see him as just a not-boring fighter. I thought this last fight was exciting, definitely the Pat Barry fight (I was there live for that one, so it was that much more entertaining for me), the Lavar Johnson fight was exciting (I thought for sure Struve was getting KO'd), so was the Christian Morecraft (sp?) fight, and I think that's the one that put Struve on the UFC map and kind of solidified him as true main card material too.
  3. When's the last time he was in a boring fight? Plus his UFC losses have come from: JDS, Travis Browne, and Roy Nelson....that's not terrible company. I'm firmly on the Struve bandwagon. Although I do agree, he'll never be champ.
  4. Seriously, he didn't look hesitant at all in there yesterday. I thought he'd at least be slightly cautious throwing bombs with a guy like Miocic. Struve is the polar opposite of Jon Fitch.
  5. Struve has proven to be one of the more entertaining fighters in UFC history. Out of all of his fights he only has 1 decision on his record. I'm always excited no matter who he's going to fight.
  6. Disappointed about Sass but Gunnar Nelson looks legit
  7. For anyone with Fuel TV, there's a decent free UFC card on this weekend. Stefan Struve is fighting undefeated Stipe Miocic and Struve always puts on an entertaining fight. And for any BJJ nerds, Paul Sass is fighting on the main card (he likes to pull guard in MMA and he's won 12 of his 13 fights by submissions off his back). Also Gunnar Nelson is fighting on the undercard on facebook. The dude is a BJJ prodigy, who got his black belt in like 4 years or something BJ Pennish. He's 9-0-1 in MMA with every fight being a finish minus the draw. This is his UFC debut and it's against DaMarques Johnson, who should be a halfway decent test.
  8. Joe Rogan got his non-10th planet black belt today from Jean Jacques Machado
  9. I'm not saying that Bonnar will win, I'm just saying that BJJ is where he is going to have any advantage over Anderson at all. And also, just looking at Anderson's record and counting his submission losses doesn't really tell the full story. He's shown problems with grapplers in the past but has come back and won with his standup. He did a good job of correcting a lot of his ground woes from back in the day, there was a time when he was getting mounted and beat up on the ground by guys like Carlos Newton and Travis Lutter, only to come back and win, but the Nog bros got him back on track so his game is very well rounded now. I just think Bonnar's ground game is underrated.
  10. He's elected to stand and brawl with most of his opponents in recent years but IMO, his BJJ is probably better than Anderson's or at least just as good.
  11. He obviously has no chance standing with him but I think he could submit Anderson...problem is he would have to get him down first.
  12. 153 is one of the first events I've been excited for in a while. Assuming the injury bug is over, it's going to have: Anderson Silva, Nog, Demian Maia, Erick Silva, Glover Texeira and potentially Wand/Sonnen. That's good company.
  13. I like it. You know the fight is going to end in exciting fashion....there's also a rumor that Wand vs. Sonnen is in the works for 153.
  14. ---------- Post added September-11th-2012 at 05:25 PM ---------- Maybe Frankie and Texeira can fight @ catchweight
  15. Love this matchup. I guess Palhares' knee injury wasn't as serious as originally thought? I still thought he was on the shelf for a year or so. http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/421040/Palhares-vs-Lombard-booked-for-UFC-on-FX-6-in-Australia/
  16. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/8/28/3274313/anderson-silva-vs-georges-st-pierre-gsp-loses-condit Silva has been in the news a lot lately. He defeated his nemesis Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, and apparently turned down a bout with top contender Chris Weidman because it didn't interest him. His camp brought up names like GSP and Rich Franklin instead, and lately it's been GSP he's focusing on. Silva also reportedly offered to step up and fight at light heavyweight at UFC 151 to save the card, even though he was out of shape. The bout with GSP would likely take place at a 178-pound catchweight. I definitely wouldn't expect GSP to lose to Condit but it's awesome to hear Anderson talk about this fight openly and with optimism about it happening. Also the last line says it would likely be at 178, wtf? Why would Anderson drop down 7 additional pounds, shouldn't GSP move up in weight?
  17. Vitor didn't look great in that fight from what I remember.
  18. If Jones can't fight Machida or Shogun, Sonnen makes more sense than Belfort from a marketing and stylistic standpoint.
  19. Then the UFC should've given him Sonnen at 152. That's a way more marketable fight than Vitor Belfort...Sonnen and Jones have been marketing that fight for weeks now. ---------- Post added August-24th-2012 at 10:43 AM ---------- btw, neither Sonnen or Belfort should be for the LHW championship. The only fight that should've held title ramifications was Machida/Jones.
  20. I'm kind of surprised that Jones refused to fight Sonnen but agreed to fight Belfort. ---------- Post added August-24th-2012 at 10:21 AM ---------- And props to Anderson Silva for volunteering on short notice to fight a random 205er.
  21. lol @ the Sonnen pic...just saw this floating around online too:
  22. Would it even have been a title fight? Dana's pissed because Chael vs Jones would've probably drawn way more than Hendo vs. Jones.
  23. Chris Weidman also volunteered to fight Jones: http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/8/23/3263406/chris-weidman-says-he-volunteered-to-fight-jon-jones-at-ufc-151
  24. lol: ---------- Post added August-23rd-2012 at 04:49 PM ---------- nice
