If you squeak into the playoffs in the nba you have to knock off a top three seeded team in a seven game series. You think that’s easier than winning a wild card game in single elimination? I do not.
The argument was that the wizards won more games, not more series. It’s a best of 7 each round. That’s not a fair argument -

And you honestly believe the wizards are not a feeder team? -
Honestly, What culture the wizards had left was scrapped the second the name changed to the wizzers, buck and Phil were replaced with Drew Gooden, and the DC Loyalty angle was broken with the Wall trade. This franchise exists as a feeder and a representation of what could go wrong if you employ incompetent losers at every level of management; from the FO all the way down to the medical staff, while gleefully ignoring the local fanbase. And it always will.

Basketball playoff wins are not the same as football. You have to be pathetic to miss the playoffs in the nba. The NFL is pretty easy to figure out at. Have a qb? Then you have a shot at the playoffs. We are still looking.
The minority owner is extorting Dan to get that sweet sweet bezos money. That’s all that’s about. Nothing to do with nobility.
( Ignoring the finger guns, or crittenton) The wizards have no culture. That may be more of a crime than having one sullied by decades of losing.

Dan’s worse, there no contest. On and off the field, Dan’s worse.
The zards are so bad they are irrelevant. They are a feeder team. -

Snyder is one of the worst owners in all of sports.
Leonsis is one of the worst owners in the NBA.
Disagree thoroughly. Never has there been a moment with the football team where I thought we never even stood a chance at competing. That’s where the wizards have been my entire life outside of a few good years of Wall putting a bunch of bums and injury discounts on his back and carrying. -

The team has been bad or middling since 1979
That's not Ted's fault. The Franchise is just stupid.
Its Ted’s franchise. He is worse than Pollin. He bought the team and kept Ernie around for a decade. Then hired his understudy to be the GM after that failed spectacularly. He removed fan favorites, Buck and Phil for drew gooden. Traded away the only franchise player we’ve had since Gil. Replaced Wittman ( who deserved to be let go years prior) with an even worse head coach. He actively sabatoges the team. He’s worse than Dan Snyder. Dude only in it to make money through sports betting. May as well go back to the well and start advertising other teams’ star players.
Snyder has atleast tried to make the team better many different ways. And he’s landed on a lot of key organizational pieces over the years: Shanabro, McVay, Wright, Rivera, Del Rio, Gibbs, Kyle Smith, etc. He just happens to **** up the qb position year after year. Ted has done basically nothing positive outside of changing the color of the jerseys.

Wall had the same issue, he never seemed to hit the last second shot. Am I right about that?
Incorrect.
Wall has been the most clutch on this team since Gil. But only marginally so. He plays better down the road and ups his game come playoff time. Beal has always been unclutch.
This team broke the second Beal’s camp thought he was a no.1

I’ve always like Matty Ice. He is a legit mvp caliber qb, and earned his pay day. If we still had McVay here he would be a phenomenal trade target. Turner’s offense asks for a bit more mobility. So I’m not sure how he would gel. But if all the options, I think he’s the most reliable and driven.

Don't sleep on Cam Newton...I know, he's not the same guy, but he has a history with RR and would provide some stability until the next is found. He will be available and won't break the bank....and chances are he's gonna want to come to DC.
Cam will bring nothing. He can’t throw to receivers under 6-5. He can’t run like he used to. He’s done.- 1

Oh you mean that assistant that was here for 13 of Ernie’s 17 years? That guy?
-
Remember that time this franchise traded away the soul of the team + a 1st in a lateral move, kept the same bum for a coach and GM, and ended up no better at 0-3 to start the season? Who could have seen that coming...

Now that I see Rivera named Alex starter if healthy, the Dwayne experiment ends for me. Stafford or Darnold are the best options for me going forward.
-
Best option is to roll with what we have now and hope for progression with our 2nd year quarterback. It saves us from spending a ton on a FA qb, or valuable draft assets on another project. Now, if Dwayne can’t show any potential from now til the end of this season, then I guess we have to go that route.

I still wonder what kind of magic O'Connell worked to get Haskins to look competent at the end of last year. Maybe Turner just doesn't mesh as well, or maybe they were just playing awful defenses. Really looked like a different player back then though.
More than likely: the whole team and Dwayne had a whole offseason + the season to learn the offense with O’Connell. Obviously that wasn’t an option this year. -
Absolute pass on Carr. Dude is average at best, is always injured, and unreliable.

Jack Del Rio was the perfect hire for this team. What a phenomenal job he’s done. I hope Rivera and JDR will be here for the long haul.

Herbert is the real deal. But Anthony Lynn let his coaching staff cut his hair, and then he did his part coaching the last few weeks. He’s a modern day norv turner without the offensive pedigree.
-
I keep opening this thread thinking I’m about to read about the improvements and successes the coaching staff, team president, FO, and new medical staff has had over the course of less than a year. Which are substantial.
But it’s just page after page of the same stuff...

Nope. I’m done. This is a bottom feeder franchise with no soul, among a million other traits. The fact that they had any fans was a minor miracle in and of itself. I’ve sat here with y’all and watched 90% of games over the last few decades. Waking up to watch at 3am while abroad just so I could check in. I’m out. I can’t even say it’s been fun. I hope this franchise folds.

I don’t think Scottie has the ability to oversell. I’m really excited to see what John has left.

15/7/5 mean little when we are getting shelled every night. Someone has to score points, and when offense is the only defensive strategy we have, stat lines get inflated. It’s what led to blatche’s contract, among others.
-
TBJ is just a guy. He’s entirely replaceable. Good or bad, Deni should take his minutes.

Neither does size or strength. And John Wall at 80% speed is still a burner who can get to the rim and be a threat to score on the break.
There are a handful of guys who are built different. Even fewer who have elite vision, drive, and bbiq to go along with it. Lebron, CP3, Kidd all found ways to be dominant as they aged. Johns game is not predicated on athleticism, but rather running an effective pnr With a viable big man, savy cutters, and perimeter threats.

I stand by my statement. Feeder franchise behind a terrible owner. Trading wall was a huge mistake. Westbrook is a good player, but his ability to hit shooters in stride is miles behind John’s. John plus Bertans, Deni, and Beal is a better offensive set than Westbrook.
Also, I thought one of the upsides to trading for Russell was that he’d be available. Yet he’s sitting games out.
