Stafford isn't injury prone. He had a shoulder injury in his second season, then went 8 seasons without missing a game, had a back injury in 2019, and then played all 16 games again this past season. He's actually an extremely durable QB, considering how much punishment he's taken behind some horrible OLs in Detroit.

I feel like you're just making stuff up here.

First it was that Stafford is somehow not the right QB for what we're trying to do on offense. Um, how exactly are you privy to this information?

Then it was that Stafford is "injury prone" when he's decidedly not.

You said it yourself. Stafford was beat up a lot due to the nonexistent OL in Detroit. It did affect his play. He played through the injuries.

Also I didn’t say Stafford is bad. He’s a great qb. But I don’t like the idea of trading 2 firsts for him.

  2. I just think 2 firsts for a guy who has been in the league for that long, and who has been injury prone is too high a risk.

Id much rather save that ammo for the draft in the event Kyle Pitts becomes available.

Best case off-season scenario for me is to get Dak at 36-38 or so, go bpa with the 1st, draft Newman in the second, and pick up Juju on the cheap to run our slot.

Not sure why people think this is set in stone or something. We traded for McNabb and that was in the division. The Lions will trade, if they are going to trade Stafford to begin with, to a team that gives them a better value regardless of what conference that team is in.

Im not willing to give up multiple 1sts for stafford. He’s a great player, and he could work here, but he is not the style of qb that is ideal for turner’s offense. He’s not worth 2 firsts. Honestly, He would fair much better in SF or IND. Mcnabb was a terrible trade.

Watson is a perfect fit for what we want at the helm. But will ultimately be too costly. Dak is also a pretty great fit and wouldn’t require any assets.

  4. Detroit will not trade Stafford in the conference  unless the haul is significant. He’s going to Indy, and honestly, that’s the best spot for him ( with SF being a 1b).

If Miami, Carolina, or NYJ are legit suitors, we have no shot at Watson either. It’s a waste of time dreaming about it.

The way I see it we have two options before us:

    1. Wait and see what happens with Dak.
    2. If Dak stays in DAL or goes elsewhere, hope Kyle Smith did his homework on Lance and Newman, and continue filling out the roster behind Allen/Heineken until the rook is ready. I’d entertain drafting either even if we land Dak honestly.

  5. Brad Beal is a phenomenal SG. He is a good dude with a good head on his shoulders. And he’s been largely healthy since the stress fractures.

But He is not a guy who you can rely on to carry the team in the clutch, or make others better.

As for Wall: westbrook sits out the same number of games right now, cant shoot from anywhere ( and it’s getting worse), and cost us a 1st on top of it. Should have waiting til Allstar break to make any decision. Westbrook wasn’t going anywhere.

Why didn't we have that last season?

    Or the season before?

    Or the season before?

I could give you a variety of answers, but I know I’ve posted them many times here. In short, Ted/Shep/Ernie and Brads camp are the primary reasons for the state we are in. We traded away our best player in the same manner we’ve done the past 20 years, and are worse off because of it... looking for scapegoats outside of the obvious.

    Let it go man.

The guy's been done for 3+ years now.

Nah. Y’all out here blaming Bertans who doesn’t fit with Westbrook, and ready to bail. Maybe we can trade him along with a 1st for rob Covington lol. Russ was never going to fit with Bertans or Deni. Perimeter kick outs into the shooting motion of spot up threats is not his game. It has never been his game.

We could have had wall kicking out to one of three elite perimeter threats, and now have Russ and Brad iso balling their way into crowds. Most of the blame is at Ted/Shep/Brooks.

Keeping John, his bad knees and his $171 mlilion contract is the kind of Ernie Grunfeld talk that has kept this franchise in the basement for the last 2-3 decades.

Actually, building around a player, misdiagnosing his injury For 6 years, then trading him at his lowest value plus draft capital for diminishing returns and a guy that doesn’t fit the current roster while scape goating the franchise player and keeping the same coaching staff is exactly the kind of Ernie thing we could expect from a guy that spent a decade learning underneath him.

Wall is 5-14 in 28 minutes with a solid -29. He’s not better.

there are still trades to be made and I’d rather they gather young assets than a player like Middleton, who is older than Beal.

Back then, Mil would have gladly traded Middleton + 1sts for Brad. What did they trade for Jrue again? We shut down all trades on Brad because somehow the 2 straight seasons of building around Brad that ended with the lottery wasn’t clear enough.

Wall plus an extra first for a 5 was a better option

  10. Smith is already VP of Player Personel. What makes you think he would stay behind a new GM and wait his turn in the same role he is already in after he’s proven his ability 3 straight years? Just about every offseason acquisition in his first year on the job has outplayed their contract by a mile.

You either promote him to GM, or expect him to take that job somewhere else.

  11. I mean we already went with the correct stash plan of trading for an established vet ( Smith), drafting a replacement to learn behind him ( Haskins). It just didn’t pan out. But with our defense, I think it’s still the right play to try again. Get a reliable vet QB (Ryan) with as few assets as possible and draft a developmental guy (Lance/Mac/Ridder) who could be ready in year 3. We could still take advantage of the rookie contracts currently on the roster.

Matt Ryan is still an elite level qb that is never injured. He’s a bit of a statue, but not afraid to run. Dude is intense about football. I’ve always liked that in him. He’s also hardly injured. Can’t say the same of Stafford/Carr/Darnold.

  12. Matt Ryan seems the most ideal trade to me. Gives us the ability to win now while in the rookie contract years of Sweat/Young, and leaves us with ability to draft and stash ( like Green Bay) if a guy like Mac Jones or Trey Lance fall. But we shouldn’t have to give up that much for a 35 year old vet with 40per on the books. First off, not many teams can afford that. We would be doing ATL a favor by getting them out of cap hell and leaving them with an elite wr core plus a TE in the wings for their young qb prospect.

I think this offer should be enough.

  13. I couldn’t see Miami giving up so soon on Tua. But I’ll refrain from qb evaluations for a while. Haha.

If they didn't learn anything from seeing Tannehill thrive in Tennessee then they'll never learn. Tua has little to work with and resetting with a new QB seems a waste. Either draft Sewell or Chase, then draft Najee at 17 and then see what you got.

Tannehill’s Denise in Miami was due to Gase. It’s why Darnold still has some upside.

You keep using the term feeder franchise. Mind defining that?

A feeder franchise, or farm team exists as a minor league squad for real contenders. The wizards draft players with actual skill sets, force them into positions they can’t succeed in, scape goat them later, devalue them, and then a contender picks them up For nothing or in a trade with assets included and win championships using their skills as valuable role players. We are a get-right team for contenders and injured players looking to prove themselves to other teams on 1-year MLE deals. The team name is a joke with an origin story of completely ignoring any fan interest. The color commentator who replaced a HOF tandem is a role player that played all of 2 years off the bench in Washington. Chris Miller actively throws shade on the star guys before they are shipped out. There is nothing about this franchise that should be taken seriously. Neither the coaches nor the owner take the team or the fanbase seriously, and it reflects.

We have a training staff and medical team that should have been scrapped eons ago after they misdiagnosed bone spurs for tendinitis in Wall’s knee for 6 years! Then the same coaching staff that is still here now had the 120lb version of Otto playing rim protector for half of every game. The list is endless. They do not care. The players don’t care. Brad has been worried about being number 1 for three straight years, and guess what. Even at 80%, Wall is still better. And he always will be. If he had played his role as the Ray Allen prospect we drafted, we would have had more success. Now he’s out here dancing as they beat up on the wolves. Bro, you were 0-5... Bertans shows up after months off out of shape. I wish the franchise would just fold and restart.
