  1. Rampage can still KO anyone imo, people just don't let him get that close anymore, but Bones can punish his opponents harder and faster than Rampage. Bones has 3 inches in height and THIRTEEN inches in reach on Rampage, there is no way Jackson is getting within a foot of Jon Jones without getting hit, and that's just the punches and not counting kicks and knees.

Talk about luck. Bodog.eu verified that this past Saturday an unidentified (publicly) participant made $51,547 off only $200 after getting a 12-fight parlay. Unheard of for such luck to strike, especially on a night of controversial decisions and such a high level.

“Hitting parlays in MMA happens often but to hit every fight right on a 12-fight card in one night is unheard of, especially that the parlay included a mix of favorites and a few medium underdogs, including two controversial decisions that went in the bettor’s favor.” Bodog Sports Book Director Richard Gardner told MMAFighting.

Interesting turn of events as both Munoz vs Diaz and Elkins vs Omigawa were controversial decisions that night, but it looks like the better had lady luck with them Saturday.

  3. UFC 131: Carwin vs. JDS, picks:

Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha: Cerrone is one of my favorite fighters, wins it on the ground with those long ass limbs. I hope he wears his hat during the fight.

    Cerrone, RNC, Round 2.

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman: Herman looks a lot smaller than Jon, but dude is cut. Jon has a small chance of subbing Herman, but I don't think it'll come to that. Herman welcomes Einemo to the UFC with a good old fashioned ground and pound onslaught in a fight that takes place on the floor for the majority of the time.

    Herman, TKO (GnP), Round 1.

Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz: Another fight decided on the ground. If Munoz can hang with Maia's sub attempts, this will go to decision, otherwise Maia will catch Munoz. Maia is way too adept with his BJJ.

    Maia, Triangle choke, round 3.

Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes: I'm on the Nunes bandwagon, even though Kenny is a great and classy MMA fighter and I respect his skills a lot and love watching his fights. His weight class transformation over the years is really impressive. I don't think he will be able to keep up with Nunes' pace and will hit a cardio wall after the 2nd round. Nunes takes a close decision.

    Nunes, Split Decision.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin: This is an awesome fight, the more I think about the more excited I get for the possibilities. Both guys want to engage, both guys have very compatible style yet different ways of fighting. Both guys have power, and the Big Country fight seriously undervalued JDS' striking power since Big Country can take probably the most punishment I've seen in the UFC. Carwin is established and JDS will be wary of his knockout punches for sure. This fight is tough to call, my heart wants JDS to win but my gut says Carwin shows he's definitely a changed and much more complete fighter. This fight goes 3 rounds, both guys bleeding, both guys establishing their ground game with Carwin staying the aggressor, and Carwin wins with a hard right to the Junior's chin, dropping him, and then hammerfists galore. I'm excited to see who's kicks are more effective though. IMO that may change the whole fight.

    Carwin, TKO (GnP), Round 3.

Sub of the Night: Donald Cerrone

Knockout of the Night: Shane Carwin

Fight of the Night: Florian/Nunes or JDS/Carwin

  4. PB just stream it like us poor people. :)

Spike TV confirms 32-man "TUF 14" cast; elimination round back, wild-card picks gone

As expected "The Ultimate Fighter 14" will feature featherweight and bantamweight fighters for the first time in the six-year history of the realuty series.

Spike TV officials today announced the show officially is in production and revealed some of the show specifics.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) subsequently confirmed some additional details for this season, which kicks off Sept. 21 on Spike TV.

Today's announcement stated the cast will feature 32 fighters who immediately competed in an elimination round of fights. The winners got a spot in the "TUF" house, and the losers weren't sent home. UFC officials nixed the elimination round with "TUF 13," which was met largely with disappointment.

MMAjunkie.com has confirmed that with 32 fighters, the recently adopted wild-card picks and wild-card fight have been eliminated from the tournament. Eight fighters will compete in the featherweight division, and eight fighters will compete in the bantamweight division.

The seventh, eighth, ninth seasons, 11th and 12th seasons of the show saw the use of the elimination round, and "TUF 11" then saw the implementation of second-chance wild-card entries into the quarterfinals. For "TUF 14," the elimination round remains, but the wild-card picks are gone.

"TUF 14" features UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping and Strikeforce transplant Jason "Mayhem" Miller as coaches. Following the UFC-WEC merger earlier this year and the implementation of new weight classes, 135-pounders and 145-pounders are featured on "TUF" for the first time ever.

"TUF," which debuted in 2005 and quickly became a driving force for the UFC's move into the mainstream, had launched the careers of more than 100 UFC fighters and has produced past champions such as Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin and Matt Serra.

  5. The SF WW championship belt being vacated is interesting. So this isn't a title unification fight, just a fight for the UFC title. Would Nick have to fight for the Strikeforce WW title again if he loses? That's fairer for the roster of fighters, better than GSP controlling both belts. In this case, the SF WW title is almost being used as a #1 contender title for the UFC WW title that GSP is definitely not going to give up anytime soon.

I'm excited for the Flyweight division. We will see some ridiculous small guys fighting their hearts out.

  6. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/6/9/2216148/dana-white-announces-all-ufc-main-events-will-be-five-rounds

There's a celebration going on in the Land of Fagan today. Both Kevin Iole and Brett Okamoto report via Twitter that UFC President Dana White announced that, going forward, all UFC main events will be scheduled for five rounds, regardless of whether a title is at stake. The policy will start following the Rashad Evans/Phil Davis main event at UFC 133, as bout agreements for that fight have already been signed.

This is fantastic news. A lot of fights would be different had they been 5 rounds instead of 3.

  7. Are they ever going to do Anderson SIlva vs GSP? I've been waiting for this fight for years now.

There's been a ton of discussion on that in this thread already I'm pretty sure, if you wanna backread to the post GSP/Shields PPV talk. GSP doesn't sound like he wants it because it'll be a complete change of his life and fighting style to move up a weight class. Silva imo doesn't give a **** and will fight GSP if it comes to that. I don't think we will ever see a Silva vs GSP fight honestly, especially if Nick Diaz gives GSP a good fight or beats him. Maybe by the end of this year, another WW will have established himself as well, or another MW establishes himself as a legit opponent to Anderson. Looking into the future, I don't see anyone doing that though.

  8. http://mmaweekly.com/alistair-overeem-wants-to-win-the-strikeforce-grand-prix-then-face-the-ufc-heavyweight-champion

Alistair Overeem wants to see the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner against UFC champion Cain Velasquez to unify the titles and see who truly is No. 1.

UFC vs. Strikeforce. Champion vs. champion.

The ‘business as usual’ model came crashing to a halt last week with the announcement that UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre would face Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz this October at UFC 137.

Now, more Strikeforce fighters are hoping for a similar unification of the titles, and that includes heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.

Currently the reigning Strikeforce king as well as the K-1 Grand Prix champion, Overeem has every intention of making the challenge to face the best heavyweigh in the UFC if he’s successful in navigating through the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix he’s currently competing in.

“That definitely is my plan, but let’s take it one step at a time,” Overeem said on Tuesday about unifying the titles. “I’m taking this fight very serious, if you look at both of our papers, this is a very exciting fight. Fabricio has been incredible the last couple years, and me myself I’ve not been sitting still. It’s going to be an incredible fight.”

  9. I think Mayhem will annoy the **** out of stuck up Bisping, and I'm really looking forward to next season just because of Jason Miller. He will be way more entertaining than Sonnen. I'm also a huge Mayhem homer haha he needs to get back into legitimate primetime MMA again, and this is a great way to do that.

  10. Thanks for condensing the summer dates, that makes me really excited for all the MMA events like every weekend.

UFC President Dana White’s tweet Wednesday afternoon was short and sweet – “U wanted it! U GOT IT!!!”

What the fans wanted was a showdown between UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and the STRIKEFORCE welterweight title holder, Nick Diaz. So on October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, the UFC 137 Superfight becomes a reality.

Unbeaten since 2007, St-Pierre has taken on and beaten all comers, barely losing a round in the process. Since regaining his title from Matt Serra in 2008, he has turned back the challenges of Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, Thiago Alves, Dan Hardy, Josh Koscheck, and Jake Shields. But this fall, he will face off against the man many believe has the style to dethrone him, Shields’ longtime training partner Diaz.

A proud native of Stockton, California, Diaz, like GSP, has not lost since 2007. Along the way, the UFC vet has defeated Frank Shamrock, Scott Smith, Mach Sakurai, KJ Noons, and Paul Daley, and with his world-class striking skills and jiu-jitsu game improving with each fight, he is on track to shock the world on October 29th.

  11. Really the only way I'd get even remotely excited for another GSP fight is if Nick Diaz is involved (unless the mythical Silva fight happens). After seeing Diaz bring it against Daley, I hope he would do the same against GSP and give him a good well rounded opponent, unlike Kosh and "all out war" Shields.
