That main event was a lot more boring than I thought it would be. also:

I watched the BJ fight afterwords, and after the first round BJ had this constant "what the hell is wrong with this kid" look. Paul Daley and Gomi had the same look. Condit didn't though, it was like Condit knew "what was wrong with this kid" and took advantage of it.

After 3 I have Shogun by a slim margin. Vera is showing a LOT of heart and skill, surprisingly. I wanna see him fight again regardless of the outcome of this fight. Both guys are gassing hard though. Machida should definitely get the rematch with Jon Jones. Excellent card overall. Success.

They can probably sell Lombard vs Silva more than Weidman vs Silva, and they'd have better luck selling Weidman if/after he's beaten a top contender like Bisping. Poor Alan Belcher... I don't think Weidman can beat Belcher as much as he can beat Bisping.

I heard Chael will step into the octagon at 218lbs with 7% body fat.

I've been really torn all week whether or not to bet on Chael since the line is +230 on Bovada. Last time I bet on MMA was on Rampage to knock out Jon Jones, and that bet was mainly because Rampage only had a punchers chance and had a great payoff if he did end up landing the KO/TKO. My heart says that Silva will come out and solidly TKO Chael in the 2nd or 3rd after landing some hard accurate punches, but there's still a chance that the fight could go the same way it went before, except with a stronger Chael and an emotional Silva. Putting some money on Chael with the chance of doubling up is attractive.

That shoulder bump probably sold a ton more ppv's, SU maybe Silva is angry BECAUSE Sonnen is in his head haha. Regardless, I'm really excited for the fight. To me this fight is pure MMA, as in the things Shael does well Silva does not do well, and the many many things Silva excels at Sonnen cannot touch. Sonnen is a really strong GnP artist who uses his striking to set up his wrestling, while Silva is one of the most complete fighters in the world who uses his sniper striking to gauge his opponents and then adapts his style to take advantage of his opponents' weaknesses. Also, we know exactly what both fighters are going to do (unless Silva surprises us and goes for takedowns or Sonnen surprises us and does not go for takedowns relying more on his standup game). Neither fighter has been TKO'ed or knocked out, but we all know Shael sucks with his submission defense, and Silva will hopefully come out with some different and unique tactics to counter Sonnen's takedown attempts. I'm excited to see what Silva busts out of his arsenal.

Just watched the Carwin/JDS fight again and a few things popped out that will matter for Mir. 1. Carwin's not a wrestler, but he could NOT take JDS down, and he could NOT hold him down either (and Carwin's a bigger dude than Mir). Mir needs to have some tricky takedowns to get JDS on the ground, and even then, the odds that JDS can get back up to his feet are very high. 2. JDS is fast as **** and he can throw down like whoa. The Carwin fight should have been stopped at the end of the 1st round, but Herb kept it going because Carwin wasn't quitting. Had he stopped the fight, Carwin's bloody face would have supported that decision and it would have been a legitimate victory. JDS threw a good 20 shots to Carwin's face, and then had the cardio to go another 3 rounds. Both Carwin and Roy Nelson can take a LOT more punishment than Frank Mir can. 3. JDS doesn't kick often, but when he does, he kicks with power. I'm expecting more kicks. I'm also expecting random submission attempts from JDS; he went for a RNC on Carwin after he knocked him down in the 1st but didn't apply it. I'm not familiar with his BJJ and grappling but I won't be surprised if he tries a sub. He's gonna probably fail at it anyways haha. Prediction: JDS will TKO Mir in the 2nd after a measuring out period and some blood.
