BTW, "BraveWarrior" -- I get the sense from your wording that you didn't want me to post anything slightly negative about the current Washington admin.

You can do whatever you want. But it's more credible if you can actually cite what they've done to justify the negativity. I know many of us are still cynical based on what the team has put us through as a fanbase, but the main problem is gone, and I'm not going to transfer my Snyder PTSD to a regime that hasn't even fielded a full team or played a single game yet. We'll know in a few years if this iteration of the team is working or not. In the meantime, I'm going to choose to be hopeful  until they give me a reason not to be because, quite frankly, the constant negativity has been corrosive to the fansbase.

Ummm... How long have you been paying attention? 1 year of good QB play and skinny as hell. We have seen this before. We have sucked since 93

Get with the times, man. This is a completely different regime, in a completely different NFL from what it was in 1993. There is no way in Hell that Harris' ownership blunders things more than Snyder did.

But he seems to have carried the curse. I truly hoped he would have picked a better QB. But this QB is another winning the offseason.

So you're just bent because he didn't pick the guy you wanted, so that means he's got the curse? Ok...

I was warned by people from cities whose franchises were bought by the Harris group, about how we may not like their changes to the franchise.

What a bad short-term marketing driven choice by Peters!  My opinion only, but I'm too tired to invest in yet another Washington FO decision that could be questionable for the long term.

Oh, please. What has Harris done so far to make you have second thoughts about him as owner?

It was the 80s. Everyone's shoulder pads were outsized.

I prefer to think they were properly sized, and that today's players wear undersized shoulder pads and too few secondary pads (neck rolls, forearm/elbow pads, etc.). The league is always talking about how the players have gotten bigger, and faster and stronger, yet they have no problem with downsized protective equipment. It's led to a change in how players initiate contact, and while I don't know if there have been any studies, I have to believe there's a correlation between the downsizing of protective gear and the increase in injuries.

Sorry, that was way off topic, but any time I see the size of pads get mentioned, I look for the nearest soapbox to stand on...

  5. Just getting tired of the idea that this team can't enter a rebuild while Ovie is chasing the record. I think if I were the GM, I'd tell him "look, if you're going to get the record here then you're going to do it as the leader of a bunch of new and young players. If you're truly great, you'll be able to do it under those circumstances." It's not like it's the team they thought would help him get there anyway. Backstrom is essentially gone, Kuzy is gone, Oshie is almost always out of the lineup with injuries. Orlov has been gone since last year. I'm probably forgetting a few. The team has been steadily declining since winning the Cup, which is now 6 years ago.

I think we should put together a massive package of picks to move up to one, take a linebacker Then couple our 2's this year with a 2 next year to move back into the top ten for Williams after he falls only to trade that pick back to Chicago for all our other picks back plus their 9 and take a left tackle.

    That'll work right?

    Sounds pretty reasonable.

And throw in David Putney, just because we feel like it.

Why not pick up Russ for a couple of seasons and let him take a beating for 2 years until we get the line ready for Maye to come in. It’ll be hard for him to overcome his inconsistency and inaccuracy issues getting swarmed everygame. Especially now that we’ve got rid of one of our better lineman.

By then we could have the line rebuilt and strong, and Maye will have worked through his issues.

Sam got broken by a bad line even after to sit a year, Id be horrified to see what he would’ve looked like taking that many hits as a rookie.

Harris, Quinn, and Peter’s said they wanted to build for the long haul, I don’t see a good enough reason to rush a really talented rookie out there to get his spirit, will, and body broke by taking so many hits.

We really need to make this o line better either by draft or free agency or coaching or a combination of all 3 before I’d risk our shiny new toy.

That’s why I’m so confused why people don’t want Russ, vet minimum contract, he either comes in and plays well, making us a wildcard contender for the next year or 2, or at the very least saves our young guys bodies by eating hits for a year getting paid scraps compared to others, because of Denver footing the bill while we rebuild the line. It’s a win/win.

Doesn't sound like a good sales pitch if you're Wilson. "Hey, Russ, we're gonna give you peanuts to come here and be the proverbial first man out of the bunker to absorb the first hail of bullets every week until our line can pick up a stunt and our stud QB is ready to push you out the door." I can't imagine Wilson's response being "where do I sign?"

I would like them to never give even a passing thought to what worked 35+ years ago, and strive to do what works now in 2024, in the modern era.

I should have been more specific. I wasn't talking about what they were doing on field. I meant the things that helped them be a respected business organization. The types of things that don't become outdated.

I actually got to meet a few of those players. Chris Hanburger and Mike Bass came to our school when I was about 10 (1970). Then Larry Brown came to the bar I worked at

You worked at a bar when you were 10?

That's the exact culture I want...

Seriously though, I would just like the current regime to study everything about the Gibbs era, and then endeavor to replicate it in as many ways as possible. For over 10 years, the Redskins and 49ers were the two best teams in the NFL and both teams had very respected cultures.

So, I don't live in the region and thus don't hear this show. And I didn't realize at first that this was a clip from before DQ was hired. But I'm just curious about the statement the guy with the dark beard and Capitals hat said -  "Adam Peters... he's too smart and put together to hire Dan Quinn." So, how did that play out when Peters did hire Quinn? Does this guy have a negative attitude towards Peters now? Does he think he knows better than Peters?

I know it's probably not wise to judge based on a 20 minute clip of this radio show, but if I lived in or near DC I don't think I'd be listening to this show during my drive time.

I still can't figure out why a coach would WANT to be GM too, considering how much time it takes away from actual coaching. It's good that Quinn seems fine about it...and of course the GM will involve him in the player selection process anyway...which all teams should be doing, unless you're the Cowboys. I heard on the radio that coach McCarthy and Dak Prescott weren't even aware that Jerruh had traded for Justin Fields until they saw him in the locker room one morning...another example of why the Cowboys will never win anything with Jerruh running the team.

Did I miss something? Jerruh traded for Fields?

It’s been by mantra for months now. We don’t know where we’re picking, who our GM/HC are, or what we have done in FA.

What IF we traded for Cousins? We still going QB first? Maybe.

What IF Harbaugh is the coach and McCarthy declares?

There are so many unknowns. One of them, a big chip, will fall today.

I totally agree with you. Too many things are going to happen between now and April that will affect the way the team conducts their draft.
