  1. I'm just messin' with you. I actually think the Padres are a great story. Like you said, no one expected them to even come close to contending for the wildcard, much less have the best record in NL. They're probably the biggest surprise in all of baseball this year. And with their pitching, and the bats they added, they could possibly go deep in playoffs.

Btw, San Diego is one of the places I want to visit. And when I do, im definitely gonna hit up a game at Petco.

:pfft:...We will give you Mclouth back in exchange for a rosin bag.

As long as you know :)

And Petco is awesome. AWESOME. Better than Nats Park. Very different from Camden Yards, but they are tied for my favorite ball park. Too different to pick one.

  2. Braves are 4-2 vs the Padres.:)

    yeah yeah yeah, I know:mad:

But the Padres are so great because everyone thought they'd be in last place right now and their entire roster is like the price of Derek Jeter and A-Rod. I LOVE that. Braves were expected to do well (I think, I really don't know). We're scrappy!!

  3. Yeah, I said that they didn't even have a better record at the time.;) And they aren't dumb announcers, btw. Joe Simpson is pretty good. Surprisingly, though, I think he's the one that erred on the best record thing.

yeah, I realized that you said that after I wrote it and re-read your post.

And regardless of whether the announcers are dumb or not.... they made a dumb error...bc we all know who's #1 in the NL;)

  4. Yeah, you're right. The Braves announcer on PTV tonite had it wrong. He said a couple times at the end of the game that the win over the Giants tonight gave us the best record in the NL. It didn't even give us the better record 'at the time' that game finished up either. Not sure what they were thinking. They usually are up to snuff with their stats too.

    I knew I should have double-checked that.:(

They didn't even have a better record at the time. Even if the Padres had lost tonight, we'd still be 62-45, which is better than 62-46. Hahaha dumb announcers.

    PADRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  5. He never actually cheated if he took the PEDs before they were banned. If you think he is, then what are your thoughts on Aaron and greenies?

Still counts as cheating. PEDs are cheating, period. Banned or not. I don't really know much about Hank Aaron and amphetamines, but if that was the equivalent of steroids back then, then he's a cheater, too. It's not whether it was illegal or not.

The Atlanta Braves have the best record in the NL.:)

    Um...no they don't.

Pads are 62-44. Braves are 62-46. Pads are gonna win tonight. 63-44. Best record.

there are plenty of cheaters in the hall of fame as well

I agree. And they don't deserve it, either.

  6. Was at the Padres/Dodgers game last night- what a GREAT game! Joe Torre kept bringing out different pitchers, but they were no match :) They walked Adrian to make the bases loaded for Chase Headley, and Headley alllllmost surprised us all with a grand slam.

  7. Considering ya'll scored like 3 runs in the series against the Braves, I think ya'll need him.:pfft:

    1) it's y'all. You put the apostrophe where you take out letters. You All= take our the o and the u. Y'all.

    2) **** the braves.

    3) Yes, we need hitters.

  8. Considering nearly every pitcher has a BA under .200, the non-DH rule is pretty stupid

Why bother to haul him up there if he's just going to strike / ground / fly out

teach them to hit so they DON'T get out!!! Pitchers get up there and look like they don't even know how to hit a ball. Instead of being like, "**** it, let's just not have them hit," why not FIX the problem???

Maybe it's the teacher in me....but everyone can learn!

  9. Most pitchers only go through the motions at bat."

Which means pitchers should be taught how to hit. Can you imagine the advantage you'd have with a pitcher that can hit? I understand that pitchers really need to practice pitching, but they should be taught how to hit well instead of "go[ing] through the motions"

  10. Well, when the box score has a "0" in the hits column, that means no one got a hit. So...I mean, I dunno what else to say about that; it's a no-hitter.

technically, yes. But it's still cheap and sheisty.

PLUS....the fielders are doing most of the work, anyway. They are catching the pop-ups and making good plays, so it's not all on the pitcher. One slow outfielder could mean the difference b/w a guy's "no-hitter" and a regular game.
