    So...

They definitely are weaponizing Sean Taylor to use as a distraction. It's almost not even a question at this point.

Jason Wright is doing the owner's bidding. But... This is a major blemish on him.

    YUP.

So now after a little smoke has cleared it seems we know now.  They had alumni weekend planned.  They had a rededication for Sean Taylor Rd. planned which is why the family was coming in.  At the last moment Danya decided that they could use retiring Sean's jersey (something they planned to do at some point) as a way to distract from all the bad press.  They put the plan in motion after the email scandal came out.  (Reports coming out now that Sean's Dad didn't know about the jersey retirement till a day or so ago).  They placed an order for 10k towels and made an announcement.  Jason Wright has this dropped on him and he lies (or at best tells half truths) and takes responsibility for the bad judgement because in the end he is just the next in line as Dan's lap dog.  They figure the fans will get over it and no change of the retirement ceremony is made.

Bottom line Danya doesn't and never has respected the fans.  We are just peons who will accept whatever they feed us in their minds.  They are to blind/stupid/arrogant to know (or care) the truth.  They treat us like trash.  AND they treat a man and player we all love as a tool.  A man that was murdered.

    F U Dan!

How many of the folks posting and saying those types of things, would've actually attended this, even if the team announced it a year in advance?

    Me

ST was a favorite of mine.  Still get choked up watching highlights of him playing.  Saw ST play live in person and cherish that memory.  I bought tickets to the Raiders game and had I known I likely would be on my to DC tomorrow.

  3. At this point what is worse?

*Using Sean Taylor and the retiring of his jersey number as a poor attempt to distract the fan base during an on going scandal.

Or (if it wasn't done as a distraction)

*Having such little respect for Sean and the fan base who loved him passionately to only give three days notice to the retirement of his jersey number.

Pretty sure the Sean Taylor 21 being retired is part of the alumni homecoming game, which is Sunday.

I think it’s long overdue, but still good that it’s being retired. Can’t we just be happy that it’s being retired instead of finding a way to be negative?

I get your point - and memories of Sean are very positive.  I just find myself looking for the real reason "they" do anything because time and time again they have proved to be doing it for anything other than for the right reasons.  I am skeptical when they do anything that appears to be positive.

I just hope they don't screw up the actual ceremony.

Its overdue but its such a joke they're using it as a way to distract people but our fanbase is too smart to be distracted by it

Exactly.  Who doesn't see through this?  Why not do it at the first home game of the year?  Did they even plan on doing it before now?  If so, were they just waiting till they needed to try to distract from another scandal?  Pathetic.  They just continue to grasp at straws to (in their minds) appease the 20k WFT fans that actually show up.

  6. At some point we have to ask why we are even a fan of this team... If you live in the area maybe there isn't a choice.  Though the Ravens aren't far... Ive just been a life long fan but I live in Idaho so why...

Its not just the poor product (though thats a large slice of the pie), the ownership and franchise in general is an embarrassment.  FedEx is a dump that produces new levels of disgust every year.  This team now wears the crown of having a home field with the lowest attendance.  Why do we continue to care about this team?

Only answer I can come up with is the history and memories that those of us in our mid/late 40s+ have.  That and I don't understand the process of changing teams as a fan.  If I moved to Wisconsin or Arizona etc. perhaps it would make sense or be easier.... Changing teams feels dirty and taboo.  Feels like infidelity.   But damn... I love football.  Is asking for a team that isn't a laughing stock year after year too much?  Is wanting an owner and front office that doesn't include low life's to much to ask?  Im still dissappointed that the name is being changed so maybe once the new name is announced (Commanders or Presidents or whatever other complete embarrassment that ends up being) that will allow for a clean beak.

Just venting here.  I know I can't change teams, just like I know Ill always probably be embarrassed by my fandom for this team. I see no options.  My wife hates the WFT, not because she is a fan of another team but because she knows I care about this franchise more than it deserves.  So.. why are we a fan of this team?  I have no answer.

Thought this was coming last week. We'll definitely be picking in the middle. No way will we suck enough to draft top 10. We're about to put together a really strong run of losses, but we'll **** it up at the end of the year.

I'd kill to get Hamilton, but we aren't picking that high.

What games do you see us winning?  I get your point and agree that "we" will manage to screw something up in all likelihood but I don't see many wins.  This defense is bottom 5.  I can't see this team not picking in the top 10 personally.  Any of the other "bad" teams could beat this team (giants and Atlanta could/should have).

So again, what game do you see us winning?  They will likely win another 1 or 2... but against who?

  8. I still care... but not as much.

My son (26) and I try to make it to a game every year.  Last year was the first we missed in a while.  We recently bought tickets, airfare etc. to Las Vegas as its a fun city, direct cheap flight etc.  We love football and enjoy the experience even when "our" team plays like garbage.

Ive never been to a game at FedEx.  We often talk about going to a game in DC.  I love visiting DC.  Have watched the Caps at home.  The fan experience at FedEx sounds so bad that I cant see us ever going.  You expect to be a minority fan on the road.  You expect to take a little teasing etc.  But to go to FedEX - which is by all accounts a dump where the opposing team's fans are in high numbers and where the home team is an embarrassment makes no sense to me - someone living on this side of the country.  The experience of the stadium, the crowd, the travel is the fun part.  Football while the reason in many ways has become secondary.   I find that Skin fans at road games are passionate and fun to be around so I don't see our tradition stopping anytime soon but I also don't see the point of a home game for us either.

QBs like Prescott in Dal@ss, Allen in Buffalo, and Murray in Arizona are testament to how to the importance of a franchise QB to a team

    Agree.  I’ll add this..

Defense coordinators like Dan Quinn are a testament to how important a good coach that prepares properly and puts players in the right position to make plays is to a team.
