Can we officially call this the end of the Dan Snyder era?

It seems that now every one wants to play for us. We went from the worst team to play for, to the now golden destination...

Don"t know what it'll produce on the field next year, but this sure looks interesting.

    One word, COMPETITION!

You're going to see guys flying around with their hair on fire and a coaching staff and FO that coaches players up and also holds them accountable.  You produce, reward.  Loaf, there's the door.  Guys are breaking the door down to get to the nation's capital, so players NOW know, they are indeed replaceable.  And this defense is player friendly which equates to a big payday, whether in Washington or around the league.  Plus, money is being pumped into the stadium and player facilities.  We're basically an expansion team with respected football minds.

Question is still Kingsbury, the rookie QB (& LT), and the offense.  Hopefully, both Daniels and Maye are both franchise QBs so whichever we choose, will be the legit face of the franchise.

Bram said on his show tonight he needed a wake up call as to how bad the roster was.

Well yeah.  He did say (and has been saying) the way they put the OL together was roster malpractice.

But he was going on and on at the end of the year the roster was better than the record.  And it might have been. By a little.

    But not much.

There will be 25-30 new players on the 53 next year.  Somewhat by necessity because half the team was free agents.

Bht I think it’s notable the only FAs we’ve lost who have signed elsewhere as of now are Gibson, Brissett and Charles.  Fuller and Curl will sign soon.

The only guys we retained are special teams guys, Reaves and Crowder.

Still, that’s ~20 players from last years team still looking for jobs.

Ron built a crap roster.  And ESPN put him on tv talking about roster construction. And at least some people probably thought he was credible.

    Sigh.

Yet folks in here are nitpicking All Pro Bobby Wagner and his “lost step.”  I refused to comment earlier but the Cabernet hath removed my inhibitions.

Hunter is a cornerstone. We’re paying three rotational guys the same price as a blue chip player. I’ll always disagree with this tactic. Gamewreckers take teams to a higher level, depth does not.

sure, I trust peters to draft well. But point is for $25m we could have landed one but we used the funds to get jags.

I hear you, but the timing isn't there yet.  We're in a rebuild (recalibrate-same thing) so there's no need to spend top of the market money on any one player.  You wait until you see where you are after this season and most likely year 3.  Then you add blue-chip free agents to supplement.  I'd assume we're looking to draft blue chippers, teach the new scheme, create a culture, then swing for the fences.

We're nowhere close for that yet.  Plus, why would a blue-chip FA choose to come here now?  They'd likely be looking for a team ascending, with playoff vibes.  A Danielle Hunter type wouldn't necessarily have Washington at the top of his list, even though we're under new management.

Kind of like the masked singer, just before kickoff of the first game the QB runs to mid field, takes off his extra large helmet to reveal the new starting QB.

Dude, fans would riot.  Imagine 100K fans in Minnesota finding out gameday Kirk went to Atlanta and the new starting QB is Sam Darnold, with fireworks going off.  I'd pay to see that debacle...

I've been dedicated since the year 2000 when I came here.

But sleep, dialysis, and more rest after dialysis has to cut into my time dedicated to this site.

    Prayers my brother! Get well.

As for cheap type signings.  Hoping for Jeremy Chinn.  Trautman (blocking TE).  Fant (though he might not be cheap)

Am not a sign an older RB in FA kind of guy but if Ekeler can be had for a ham sandwich, i'd consider.

How about I make you a ham sandwich and we draft a running back with the second 2nd or first 3rd round pick. Boar’s Head piled high…I’ll even put the toothpick thru it with the pickle!

Well, dangit!?  Get your own dang sandwich!  We signed him!

I don’t think we’ll do it. But I would. Anything to develop the rookie QB.

I don’t think that can be overstated. A team should do any and everything to facilitate the growth and development of a young QB.  Spare no expense. Oline, backs, tight ends, wideouts.

But teams routinely don’t, it baffles me every year how these smart personnel guys trot a young QB out with a suspect line and no weapons with their jobs on the line, and are then surprised when they get fired.  Rivera did it last year when his job was obviously in the crosshairs. Lunacy!

What a difference a real FO makes.  Peters and Co. addressing pressing needs already and it's only Day 1 of FA.  Can't wait for what more they have in store

The difference is night and day.  The Quinn hire is growing on me too.  Between Peters’ GM experience and Quinn assembling a world class staff, I’m not sure a first year head coach could’ve done better.   And I know what we’re getting on the defensive side of the football. The jury is still out on Kingsbury and the offense. I bet most of the draft capital is spent on offense supporting the young QB.

And you too.  I picked the two of you because I thought it would be obvious the two of you would NOT lose your minds.

Cmon bruh, everyone in this place is guilty of extremism at some point or another, no one can claim innocence…

The Eagles have some serious in-house problems and a defense that is arguably worse than ours. They may sign some big names but they still have  chemistry and coaching issues to sort out. Losing Kelce and Fletcher Cox won't help them either. I won't mind if they get Barkley, he'll be injured sooner than later.

What’s crazy is that last season (22-23) they were anointed the “best roster in football” with multiple 1st and 2nd round draft picks to keep stacking the roster.  They lost Gardner-Johnson and their defense fell apart… still not sure what happened, maybe losing the coordinators was too much to overcome.

He has every dollar he could possibly need for generations. Come on now. What is left after you have all the money and you're a starting QB in the NFL?  Winning the SB.

I get what you’re saying, and for some guys winning becomes the prize.  I think it’s admirable, I’m just not one to question another man’s motives when it comes to how he runs his business. Not saying you are either.

I respect Kirk and most athletes for becoming that .01% by putting their bodies’ on the line and tend to give them leeway.  Especially considering I’m sitting around today with a hot rice sock on my lower back!  I want what I’ve worked hard for, period!  No more shorts!

I mean you would think at this juncture of his career Cousin's would be saying to McCarthy his agent, shop me with a team that can make a run, and give him a short list. But not Kirk. He likes to be paid. And he has enough money now for generational wealth.

For the hits those guys take standing in the pocket between a monstrous man a his families’ paycheck, I’d want every dollar I can get too, and wouldn’t let the opinion of anybody get in the way.  Fans included.

We’re not trading back for anybody.

All the tier 2 guys are way behind the tier one guys.

I wouldn’t be that surprised if only 3 QBs go in the first.  The reason a 4th would go is there is a team who has no chair when the music stops who feels compelled to pick a guy and get the 5th year option.

People said in 2022 QBs were going to be over-drafted because teams need QBs.  Some had Malik Willis and Pickett in the top 10-15.

Pickett was the only QB  drafted in the first round and Willis lasted into the third.

I could see the same thing happening, except with 3 QBs going 1-2-3. Then nothing until the second round.

These second tier guys all have question marks.  And McCarthy just isn’t that good.

I’ve been wondering about the McCarthy hype myself.  I’m not a college football fan, so the only games I watched were the college football playoffs.  When Michigan played I kept wondering how the hell they made it because the QB was really average, then the running game, defense, and game management stuff showed up and I thought, oh that’s why, it’s Harbaugh and the coaching staff!  Helluva coaching job he did this year!

I’m no QB guru, and yes anything is possible, but the folks clamoring for us to trade back and draft McCarthy are absolutely nuts to me.  My eyeballs see NFL backup.  I say roll with Howell and build the roster before going with any of the QBs outside of the top 3 this year….  They’re. Not. Close.
