I would say at the time the only thing that could work beyond Dan in a long shot way is an elite QB, not very good but elite play might be able to override the dysfunction mess but probably not because Dan would have been so smitten ala how he was with RG3 that he'd try to be his BFF and name a slew of other dysfunctional things he would have done.

It's unbelievable that this dude is finally gone.  We finally have a chance.  And I found it poetic that no one (aside from Ron) defended him as his tenure was ending.  Heck not even Gibbs who was nice speaking about him previously.  Heck even Jason Wright while being employed by him said it was a game changer.

Bruh, there was NOTHING to defend. He’s a despicable person, period.  Good riddance!  Just reading thru the thread, he oversaw some of the worst mismanagement in sports history.

He may be the worst pro sports owner ever, maybe Donald Sterling was worse.  His only saving financial grace is he parlayed the dot.com bubble into a teflon threaded John Wick NFL suit that protects from all financial damage…

I can’t honestly remember anything positive he’s done in the last 10 years.  I think he did pay for the Chief Z’s funeral, but that’s about it. Honor is reserved for whom honor is due…

By the way, whether it was planned, the condom broke, or you were practicing the "it never fails (ha ha) pull out method", a sincere happy father's  day to you all!

That’s absolutely the weirdest Father’s Day wish I’ve ever heard.  Thanks I think 🤔 Not sure I’ll use it either😀

I will say, Happy Father’s Day to the real men doing the Heart work of supporting their families and the families of others. Appreciate your quiet love, sacrifice, and support and all the invisible things you do to keep your household moving!  May God Bless and keep you!

I love where we got him. I had him as a mid 2nd player. I honestly would have taken him at 36 or 40, so getting Sain with him is a huge bonus.

I have to keep reminding myself we didn’t have a normal draft from a value perspective. We drafted 6 players in the first 3 rounds, 4 in the first and second.  In theory we should have dramatically improved our roster.  Add the vets and everyone enthused to play for Quinn…🙂, I fell like brake dancing!  This is unreal!

Yep same dude who would serve the team P & J sandwiches as the in flight meal when they were traveling.

According to some include Keim, Bruce really ramped up the cheapness and letting things go atmosphere around the team and it was demoralizing especially to staff who were underpaid.

As I liked to say thank God Dan and Bruce found each other because it was the perfect storm for the team to implode which led to the sale.

Pretty embarrassing the price was a measly 1.5M that a billionaire owner wouldn’t afford for the last 20 years, but claimed he wanted to win so badly. Stuff like this is why the culture was so bad.  Facilities in any organization can have a dramatic effect on morale.  If the owner doesn’t care why should the team!

Thankfully we’re under new management, atmosphere is changing at lightning speed. I’d volunteer to help if this back of mine didn’t have a mind of its own.

Absolutely.  Ron and his FO team were need based drafters on sterioids and seemed to take pride for making off beat picks in the first round -- and it blew up in their face.

The Buffalo nickel obsession as to Ron's rhetoric is another bizzare chapter in his run -- considering he had dudes that were plugged as special in that role, Hamilton, JPK, Branch just sitting at his pick and he said nope.  These are dudes that weren't even remotely obscure.  They were obvious.

It's like hearing a dude stress how much he's a pizza fanatic, they go to Brooklyn, NY 3 years in a row to have a meal yet skip pizza for a burrito each time.  Wild.

As some said who worked with Ron, he was more obsessed with the media narrative about the team than actually winning -- playing off of that, maybe Ron just thought it was cool to say Buffalo nickel repeatedly and that's what mattered to him on that subject?

Ron was the pepperoni hot pocket guy!  New York style is overrated…😆

If I was Peters, I would look to trade Forbes while some team that plays mostly zone still has his last year at MissSt in their memories. Given his tape last year, I would think the return would be a live body, not a draft pick...

I'm not confident at all he can play in the Quinn/Whitt system (not that we're 100% sure what it is yet), given the defences the two have been associated with the last 10 years, which are predicated on physicality and length in the secondary.

This pick was a complete swing and a miss by Rivera. Gonzalez, Banks, Kincaid, Anton Harrison, Joey Porter (man would he look good in a 'skins uni right about now), Laporta and Steve Avila were all still on the board at the time.

    Grrrrrr.

Hey look on the bright side, the ineptitude caused Riveras demise, led to a losing season, in which we got top QB prospect and the best coaching staff and front office we’ve assembled in a decade. Glass half full my brother!😉

I’m not ready to go there yet on the D.

The only way is up from last season, and I think we will have much better linebacker and safety play. We are strong at DT and slot.

But we need to see how we hold up outside at corner and where the pass rush is coming from - it will have to be schemed. I worry that lack of pass rush and questions at corner are a bad combination.

On the plus side we have exponentially better coaching on this side of the ball than last year. It can’t be emphasized enough what a step up this defensive staff is over what we had.

Yeah it’ll definitely be corner and pass rush by committee. We’ve gotten used to seeing Parsons the last few years, but Quinn’s defenses fly around, feels like they practice old school pursuit drills, geez I hated those.

But between the 3 headed interior monster, the confusion Quinn coaches into his scheme, Wagner teaching all-pro pedigree and alignment on the field, and him actually playing LB, I expect elite pass rush with the new guys and corners getting lots of turnover opportunities.

The question is how long does it take to gel? The front end playing in sync with the backend… but yeah I’m pretty excited, haven’t been this excited in a long time.

Butler was the deep (derp) safety and DeFo played the box (SS). Not sure why people think DeFo was the FS. Curl wasn't either and DeFo was his back up kind of and they were on the field together for rush downs. DeFo is decent, but there's a reason he was a late day 3 guy and Quan early day 2.

I think DeFo on the field with Quan and Chinn will be a normal set, because we'll be forced into cover 3 because of our CBs not being as good as our safeties. I like DeFo a lot, but he's not special.

Not sure that’s right, DFo played Free and Curl was the Strong.  There was talk after the 22-23’ seasons that they were the best tandem in football per PFF. They started that way last year then DFo got hurt and insert Butler.

Not arguing your logic moving forward tho, we have great depth at safety and potential for development.  On paper, best defense since Gregg Williams…

I think so as well, at least to start the season. And with good LB play and a good DL rotation I think that’s an effective safety duo.

Why do people think Quan is starting over Forrest? I thought Forrest was doing well, no?

I thought Quan was misused and suffered the rookie blues early on, then started to figure it out late, but to think he displaces DFo as the Willie Mays of the defense is a bit presumptuous.

Dfo was developing into a really good deep safety before he got injured so I’m not so sure Quan is penciled in as the starter. He seems more like Chinn as an in the box type safety who can move around. Guess it’s a good problem to have.  I trust Whitt will figure out the right packages to use them all…

Who said anything about just a hunch besides you? The Chiefs didn't trade up for Mahomes based on a hunch, the Bills didn't draft Allen and the Chargers didn't draft Herbert based on a hunch. Those were all guys with elite traits who also had sloppiness to their games - accuracy, footwork, mechanics, etc. That's why other QBs went before them.

Also, I love how you just randomly threw out demeanor, leadership, and coolness as if either Daniels or Maye lacked those things.

You still seem to be a bit sensitive, but I’ll address… I used “hunch” because based on what I read, JD far and away out graded Maye, but as you stated, teams at times overvalue mechanics etc… meaning a team likely selects the wrong player by overly relying on analytics and metrics (your words) where they should have used more subjective reasoning, “hunch,” to pick a Mahommes or a Herbert.

Also, I’m glad you appreciated my using EQ words, because AP and Quinn also repeatedly talked about how cool JD is, and the natural leader he is, etc.., contrasted by what I’ve read, that Maye seems a bit uptight or nervous at times, who knows whether that’s good or bad for Maye or if JD’s coolness is a mute point after he throws 2 picks…

I hope they both are amazing young QBs and better men.

I don't really care that much about Maye anymore, though I'll be curious to see what ends up happening with his career. I wanted him over Daniels, but it's done now.

That said, you do realize that even highly paid NFL scouts and coaches still make mistakes right? Overvaluing mechanics and footwork and undervaluing traits and other factors is the biggest reason that guys like Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert slipped.

Hopefully that won't be the case this time and we made the right choice.

Of course, everyone makes mistakes, but ignoring the obvious trait weaknesses (footwork, release, accuracy, erratic tendency; demeanor, leadership, coolness, etc.) while using level of competition as a backdrop, to then select the other guy, like Maye (he’s not the first or last) increases risk substantially for a GM and head coach.  And your only real justification for the choice is a hunch, hard to defend being wrong to you’re boss…

However, if all my data and analysis prove to be wrong, although i followed my process, either my process is flawed, which initiates incorporating lessons learned, or just chalk it up to bad luck and try again.  But at least I have a hill I’m willing to die on.  As you say though, only time will tell…

The difference in narrative between daniels at our camp and maye in Foxboro has been a little eye opening.

Can you imagine If Sam hartman was getting more love from the media and our fans than jayden was.

I knew jayden was widely considered to be more pro ready than maye but if I knew it was this big of a gap I think I'd have been in camp daniels.

Which is exactly why, since we ARE fans, we should mostly (unless obvious incompetence occurs), from a fans’ perspective, allow our highly paid NFL professionals to do their jobs, and trust they have done it thoroughly, translating into the decisions we saw on draft day.  I find it rather amusing that some posters on this board are still so stubbornly locked into their stance on Maye, it’s done, move on….

I’m sure AP and Kingsbury saw the mechanics delta early in the process which made picking JD the no-brainer they said it was. So… GREAT! Our staff did job one, yay!, now on to job two… QB development.  Still lots to do.

I spent some time in Escondido, California.

Weekends were "wasted" across the border at a bar called Adelita's that was famous for a lot of things-- none of which had much to do with drinking.

On a few occasions the more adventurous of us, including sailors on leave from the naval base in San Diego, would  be invited to go on an excursion to even more "interesting" and unique venues.

I'm very familiar with the original donkey show.

Those Navy boys… great stories… the only thing that makes me question my life choices at times…🫣🤫🤔

Listened to Trevor from PFF on Paulsen's podcast addressing the dispairty between him and some mock drafters (who preferred Maye) and most scouts-coaches who prefered Daniels.

Trevor thought was the NFL scouts-coaches were enamored with Daniels consistent mechanics and delivery which Maye didn't share.  It was an interesting listen.  PFF by far were the biggest Maye people along with Nat Trice.  But they also thought Daniels was close behind him.  But it was interesting to hear Trevor explain why he gets why scouts seemed to prefer Daniels and it centered on the consistency of his mechanics.

Regardless of whom you preferred, I’m glad we have a franchise QB and an organization / staff built to develop him the right way.

Playbook installs for him and the offense without different OCs coming in every year.  Him starting to develop relationships and chemistry with his receivers and everyone building together. So refreshing…  Nice to have professionals running the show!🥹
