I don't really care that much about Maye anymore, though I'll be curious to see what ends up happening with his career. I wanted him over Daniels, but it's done now.
That said, you do realize that even highly paid NFL scouts and coaches still make mistakes right? Overvaluing mechanics and footwork and undervaluing traits and other factors is the biggest reason that guys like Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert slipped.
Hopefully that won't be the case this time and we made the right choice.
Of course, everyone makes mistakes, but ignoring the obvious trait weaknesses (footwork, release, accuracy, erratic tendency; demeanor, leadership, coolness, etc.) while using level of competition as a backdrop, to then select the other guy, like Maye (he’s not the first or last) increases risk substantially for a GM and head coach. And your only real justification for the choice is a hunch, hard to defend being wrong to you’re boss…
However, if all my data and analysis prove to be wrong, although i followed my process, either my process is flawed, which initiates incorporating lessons learned, or just chalk it up to bad luck and try again. But at least I have a hill I’m willing to die on. As you say though, only time will tell…

The difference in narrative between daniels at our camp and maye in Foxboro has been a little eye opening.
Can you imagine If Sam hartman was getting more love from the media and our fans than jayden was.
I knew jayden was widely considered to be more pro ready than maye but if I knew it was this big of a gap I think I'd have been in camp daniels.
Which is exactly why, since we ARE fans, we should mostly (unless obvious incompetence occurs), from a fans’ perspective, allow our highly paid NFL professionals to do their jobs, and trust they have done it thoroughly, translating into the decisions we saw on draft day. I find it rather amusing that some posters on this board are still so stubbornly locked into their stance on Maye, it’s done, move on….
I’m sure AP and Kingsbury saw the mechanics delta early in the process which made picking JD the no-brainer they said it was. So… GREAT! Our staff did job one, yay!, now on to job two… QB development. Still lots to do.

I spent some time in Escondido, California.
Weekends were "wasted" across the border at a bar called Adelita's that was famous for a lot of things-- none of which had much to do with drinking.
On a few occasions the more adventurous of us, including sailors on leave from the naval base in San Diego, would be invited to go on an excursion to even more "interesting" and unique venues.
I'm very familiar with the original donkey show.
Those Navy boys… great stories… the only thing that makes me question my life choices at times…🫣🤫🤔

Listened to Trevor from PFF on Paulsen's podcast addressing the dispairty between him and some mock drafters (who preferred Maye) and most scouts-coaches who prefered Daniels.
Trevor thought was the NFL scouts-coaches were enamored with Daniels consistent mechanics and delivery which Maye didn't share. It was an interesting listen. PFF by far were the biggest Maye people along with Nat Trice. But they also thought Daniels was close behind him. But it was interesting to hear Trevor explain why he gets why scouts seemed to prefer Daniels and it centered on the consistency of his mechanics.
Regardless of whom you preferred, I’m glad we have a franchise QB and an organization / staff built to develop him the right way.
Playbook installs for him and the offense without different OCs coming in every year. Him starting to develop relationships and chemistry with his receivers and everyone building together. So refreshing… Nice to have professionals running the show!🥹

Goes with the mod ring of rules and cape of consequences. If you earn all three you're eligible to take your place in line to eventually wear the coned hat of eldest mod.
I’d pay good money to see you n that coned hat!? Hilarious!😃😅

I want a complete enough team that things won't fall apart waiting for next year.
this fanbase is the one complaining all the time about the lack of "elite" players
our last fast skinny QB had ONE year and he was playing behind a good offensive line. We has a **** one last year, and while we've upgraded some areas of it, we weren't able to do with with the most important position
I’m with you brother, I want an elite oline too. But the team has to be built the right way. We have 5 picks tomorrow, and a GM who has the pedigree to find guys to play. You have to let him do his job. GM is more than a title and a parking spot, he took the job, now execute. Find the day 2 / 3 starters, not burn a second and third for a tackle at 25 who may be there at 36.
We hired an “elite” coaching staff for player development too. That’s the process guys. That’s the way the championship orgs do it. Can’t skip steps, and I don’t want them to. The fun starts tomorrow into Saturday, that’s where I expect Peters to cut his teeth.- 1

Honestly I’m confused. Draft has played out as we expected. We knew there would be a run on OTs and half the guys slated for the 1st round are still available 🤷♂️Fans will fan, folks want the team complete and competing for a Super Bowl next year. Not going to happen, we’re still going to suck because our roster is 2 years away at least. Need every pick we have to build out the roster, no shortcuts…

My take has been well established, I think, but drafting Daniels and trading back up for Patrick Paul would make my draft night feel… not as happy as I’d like.
JD I’m “okay” with. His upside is fantastic. Can live with it even if I don’t outright love it. The potential is there.
But trading back up for Paul rubs me the wrong way.
With you on the trade up K-Dawg, honestly i don’t want to trade up at all. I look at the wealth of picks and think Peters could really rebuild our roster with those picks, not give em away for a late first round tackle who may not be better than what we currently have. I say let the draft come to us and stockpile talent. TBD.

You may well be both the smartest and most disciplined man on this forum. I envy you.
Personally, I lack the discipline to stay away so long.
I need my daily Extremeskins fix, or I get the shakes. lol
Oh I still get my daily fix, got to keep up with the news, but the constant belittling, arguing, and name calling makes my head hurt.
I eavesdrop a little, call people idiots in my mind as to not provoke the Jumbo ninja 🥷, and I figure once Thursday happens, all will settle down, and intellectualism will return. Then I can be an undisciplined idiot again too!🤓

Really enjoy the back and forth on this forum. No doubt in my mind Washington has the most intelligent fanbase in the country by a country mile.
Dude, I sense your sarcasm, it’s why I stopped posting weeks ago. This place has turned into nonsense, just arguing the same tired points over and over. I’m waiting to re-engage in a couple of weeks after the draft weekend meltdown and folks put down the pitchforks down…

There's a lot of talk about both Mayes and Daniels being blue chip prospects at #2 in a general "different but equal" sense, desirability wise.
But going by posts, most folks here who are focused on those two have long had their fave locked in and have a very strong preference for their guy over the other guy. It isn't close for most.
Also going by posts, most seem to see one as much more likely to bust than the other as opposed to seeing one more likely to boom then the other.
By the time the draft is actually happening, mental/emotional fatigue will have sent some of them into the JJ camp. 🧐😛
By the draft???? some have given up and prefer to trade down for Penix. By draft night I expect folks to start taking shots of Jäegermeister with one eye closed…

You still seem to be a bit sensitive, but I’ll address… I used “hunch” because based on what I read, JD far and away out graded Maye, but as you stated, teams at times overvalue mechanics etc… meaning a team likely selects the wrong player by overly relying on analytics and metrics (your words) where they should have used more subjective reasoning, “hunch,” to pick a Mahommes or a Herbert.
Also, I’m glad you appreciated my using EQ words, because AP and Quinn also repeatedly talked about how cool JD is, and the natural leader he is, etc.., contrasted by what I’ve read, that Maye seems a bit uptight or nervous at times, who knows whether that’s good or bad for Maye or if JD’s coolness is a mute point after he throws 2 picks…
I hope they both are amazing young QBs and better men.
