Everyone on the WFT secondary WANTED NO PART OF THAT HAIL MARY. How are we so terribad at the most simple things.

Put me out there and I would at least jump for the damn ball.

That kind of play in that situation just doesnt happen to a well coached team.  It doesn't even happen to a mediocre coached team.  We are a poorly coached team.  Our coordinators are both awful.  Rivera is below average.  And has zero, and i mean zero, in game awareness.

Like the announcer said. What is the conversation at halftime after allowing that. Entire defense should get cussed out. Piss poor effort. Look like some amateurs on that play.

Del Rio should be relieved of his duties immediately.  But Rivera also bears a ton of responsibility for this.  The defense just has no clue.  I now see that our linebacking core and secondary players are some of the worst in the league, but there's still no excuse for what we are seeing.  This is fundamental 101 stuff.  They have 8 seconds left.  they don't have time for anything really but a hail mary.  You want to keep the LB in the flat to try and stop a quick out and a long field go, fine, but the safeties were actually playing up.....playing up!!!!!!!  It's complete coaching incompetence on the defensive side of the ball.

  3. So here's the thing: the defense is awful, but so are our coaches.  Midfield and we know Winston can throw it.  We should be in deep prevent--why is the entire secondary running backward with the receivers.  Of all the times not to play a 10-15 yard cushion...it's just unforgivable that this coaching staff continuously puts the defense in positions of failure.

  4. I would love to see Gibson and JD in the backfield together in a pro formation.  So many possibilities out of a look like that, and you know they both scare the hell out of defenses.  I think this offense is just getting started.  I never thought id say this, but the offense will keep us in games this year!

  5. The goal of any defense is to disrupt the offense. Take away what they do best and make them best you some other way. Give them different looks; surprise them; make them react rather than dictate. When I see NONE of that going on, I know it’s coaching. It’s true that we lack starting caliber talent at every linebacker position and arguably corner, but this scheme is exploiting our weaknesses.  And it’s really disturbing that we looked this ineffective and inept coming out of a mini-bye. It means that the players either don’t like the scheme, don’t understand the scheme or lack the talent to execute it. I’ll go with the first option—the players hate this kind of defense. Because we play a soft zone, a QB doesn’t need to hold the ball and so the pass rush is totally ineffective. Because we don’t blitz and the middle of the zone is always open, we give up 9-12 yards consistently. We are constantly in second and short as a defense and we just rinse and repeat. Teams don’t even need to run to keep us honest bc we make it so easy for them. It is 100% inept coaching, and I’m just so sick of seeing it.

Young's conditioning seems poor. He's constantly taking himself out of the game. And in the 4th quarter he seems winded.

Sweat I have no idea. I think he read too much into his press clippings. He's nowhere close to an elite DE. I'd happily include him in any package for a franchise QB and not blink an eye.

agree with this. His conditioning doesn’t seem to be there at all. Don’t think he worked hard this off-season.

  7. The defensive scheme gives these players no hope, and they know it.  It asks them to sit back and react.  It won't work against the teams we are playing this year.  We aren't challenging the offenses at all--we are letting them dictate everything.  It's a massive schematic screw up and indicative of coaches who just have no clue.  It's a lazy basic scheme that actually accentuates our glaring weaknesses at middle LB.  So what do we do?  We play a soft zone and allow every QB to destroy us for 9-14 yards a clip in the shallow middle.  Three straight games this has gone on and there have been zero adjustments.

The Haskins pick will haunt this team for years.  I really think we would have taken Herbert over Tua because of Tua's injury.  Herbert and Burrow are killing it and for some reason our football experts thought Haskins has potential.

What haunts and will continue to haunt this franchise is Dan Snyder. He is the root of all evil with this team. He is the suck. We will never get out of our own way with him as owner. I don’t know much but after watching this manure franchise under his ownership, I do know that.

I’ve been watching in silence. Heinicke is pressing now and that’s not his game.

Our D is frustrated. I’m watching Young yelling with Del Rio… Not for nothing, Young has been a no show, again, against a relatively mediocre front.

As much as our DL is disappointing, though, I’m embarrassed that our former LB HC and DC can’t see how bad our backers are.

Going to be a long year.

It seems clear to me that the players hate the scheme on defense.  These guys can tell they arent being put in a position to succeed.  That's why it looks and feels like they are going through the motions...because they are.  Something has to give here.
