EB was came here thinking it would lead to a head coaching gig.  Well, it will lead to the opposite. Either being unemployed in 24, or a demotion to just a position coach.

He's proven he's no OC and definitely no head coach.

It's true.  He just isnt it.  Adjustments dont happen quickly enough; he randomly stops going to what works and doesnt run the ball nearly enough.

I think his ceiling is hogher than Kirk’s.  For 2 reasons :

    1. He will extend the play and look for things off schedule. Kirk doesn’t do this, st least not often.

    2. he has more, wait for it, moxie.  He’s a real gamer, won’t take the check-down on 4th and 8.

I like him more than I liked Kirk. And I’m not a Kirk hater.  (Though I live it when he screws up badly, just to watch z Sheehan cover it up and blame somebody else)

totally agree. He’s the real deal for sure.

I am 100% certain it's Ron. If the coaching staff dissolves, EB's only setback is that he has to be an OC for another team before he can pumped up for the head coach market again. I'm sure one of the 32 teams in the NFL will give him that chance. For Ron, this is his last rodeo. Once he's bucked, he's out for good.

Like most of Snyder’s coaches and all of Ron’s assistants by the way.

I doubt Rivera fires Del Rio but I could see him taking on a more "hands on" approach i.e. maybe taking over playcalling duties or something along those lines. The usual desperate coach wanting to shake up his unit play.

Ron has no idea what he’s doing. He’s not taking a hands on approach to ****. We are totally screwed here and this season is a wash.  That’s fine with me so long as the entire coaching staff is gone next year.

The D has four first round DL. Technically speaking… he shouldn’t need to ever blitz. However… the four first DL aren’t as good as they should be as a unit so he needs to blitz… but we’re trotting out Davis (who is okay) and Barton (who isn’t) and blitzing is hard for those guys and they don’t get there, either. So then teams pick us apart.

This is a talent problem locking heads with an uncreative scheme.

This team needs to be blown up. Almost completely. Terry is really the only guy who should be safe.

Agree with this entirely but to me the scheme and it’s total predictability and lack of creativity is the biggest problem. Del Rio needs to be fired after this game. He should have been fired two seasons ago.

Ok.  We probably can’t do Jack Diddly Poo about the construction of the OL right now.

But what we can do is cut Gibson.

And what we should do is cut Gibson.

And not because he’s a scape goat.

Because you can’t trust him to be on the field and hold onto the ball.  Ergo you can’t play him.  Ergo there is no reason for him to be on the team.

    Sorry dude.

Bring back one of the other backs.  It’s unfortunate.  Because he has a unique skill set.

But you can’t have the turnovers from a 4th year RB. You can live with mistakes from a developing QB.

    He needs gone now.

I don’t agree with this. Ironic that Tiki barber was the commentator today. He has a terrible fumbling problem early in his career until Tom Coughlin fixed it.

Gibson can and should be taught how to hold the ball high and tight. And yet no one in this coaching staff seems to know how to do it.

The major issue with Washington is and has been the total mediocrity of Ron Rivera. Rivera was the only idiot Snyder could find to take this job (him and his equally idiotic side kick—Jack del Rio). Those guys are Snyder guys. They are not Harris guys. Harris will be able to bring a high end head coach and I think he’ll do just that in the off-season.

That distinction doesn’t matter to me, the point is the Broncos are a terrible team and we barely stumbled past them. The only time they looked like a professional football team this year was against us.

I really like a lot about Howell but his absolutely and complete lack of pocket presence and lack of a clock in his head is one big thing that really really really concerns me.

Scoreless, under 200 yards, 4 turnovers, really?

yes—go back and look at Eli or even Peyton’s first years.

and make no mistake—some of this is, much of it I would suggest, is on this coaching staff, which is a bottom five staff. And I’m excluding EB because it’s early and he’s light years better than Turner who may have been the worst in the league, but there’s a lot to hate about the offensive game plan today: it made zero sense. And that 4th and goal play especially was just awful.

  9. I just really can’t take another year of a Rivera. Yet again, we looked completely flat in the first half on both sides of the ball. Yet again, Gibson gets sent out to hold the ball out and low instead of high and tight; yet again we fail to commit to the run when that’s our strength right now and yet again the defensive line disappears for long stretches.

I’m also not sold on EB. Where are the roll outs? Where are the screen plays on early on? He is throwing Howell to the wolves and the kid is going to have a confidence problem if he doesn’t already.

  10. I find this all just so depressing.  The sale of the franchise can't come quickly enough, but i worry that we are in for a number of dark years before we see any glimmer of hope.  The cloud that overhangs this franchise due to Snyder's total incompetence is vast and wide.  And while I think Ron is a good enough guy, neither he nor anyone else on his staff has the intellectual chops to maximize the talent on this roster.  And i fear that Ron will be around for at least another year, bumbling about and forcing us all to witness Scott Turner's woeful incompetence for at least another season.

By the way, how's this for a crazy take @Jumbo: Scott Turner is a deep sleeper sent by his father Norv to exact his final revenge on Snyder.  Norv came up with this plan upon being presented with vanilla ice cream by The Dan after a woeful defeat and at that exact moment in time, spent the rest of his career setting up his son to punish Snyder's crass display of disrespect.  I challenge anyone to counter this narrative which is objectively true in every respect.
