I'm less confident about that, especially the 20-25 carries part. As illogical as this sounds, I feel like he and Gibson have "chemistry" with the way they are sharing the load. It doesn't make sense to say that two guys who aren't on the field at the same time have chemistry, and yet, it seems like it's working in a way where they both thrive off of each other.  Kudos to the coaches I guess for figuring it out.

I can understand we have a 2 headed backfield committee but in the second half yesterday it was BRob who had the rushing carries with Jonathan Williams sprinkled in. Gibson was on the sidelines. I think we will see more of that where Gibby get occasional rushes but maybe less than 10 per game.

  2. Told one of my Eagles buddy yesterday during the game that I really think BRob will at some point in his career could be the NFLs leading rusher!

Imagine 20-25 carries a game and him being fully healthy physically and mentally?  Henry is getting up there and Taylor plays for a bad offense. His biggest challenge could be Chubb but he has competition for carries with Hunt. All other offenses in todays NFL are too pass happy.

    Here's how I see it.

Looking at our schedule, I only see 2 games remaining where our specific style of offense could run into trouble.  SF & DAL.  Dallas is more of a tossup because I think their defense is good, but not shut down.  San Francisco on the other hand is the type of defense that will force your offense out of the comfort of what they prefer to do.  Now that said, the 49ers front 7 is a lot better than their secondary, especially with a few injuries they've taken.  The 49ers can be throw on. I am not talking throwing for 350 4 TDs kind of thrown on, but you can make plays against them and I could see that game coming down to which QB Heinicke or Garappalo makes the 1-2 big throws in the game to win it because both teams could be struggling to score.

The rest of the schedule I think we can win games leaning on the run game & defense, and having Heinicke just making safe throws and limiting mistakes.

We have the benefit that Defense and the running game are two aspects that travel well, into any stadium and with any weather conditions.  That is why they call it cold weather style football, because you can do both effectively regardless of the conditions.

The San Francisco & Dallas (and the other caveat with Dallas is how the playoff seeding looks going in Week 18, if Dallas cannot improve or fall in their playoff seeding, I think they might rest players, same with the Commanders, so let's call that game a tbd for now, for the context of my post) are the two games where we could get a much better look at just how much Heinicke has or hasn't improved as a QB.

If we split with the Giants and even lose in San Fran, I think we still finish with 10 wins and that will get us into the playoffs. Sure still tall task but certainly doable. We played both the Eagles and Vikings tough so we could pull one out but highly doubt it since it’s in San Fran. I think the Dallas game will be meaningless to the Cowboys so I’ll chalk it up as a win. Browns could be dangerous especially with Watson back and having a few games under his belt.

They traded for Wentz because he has the ability to maximize the weapons.  Maybe I'm just either slow or a moron, or both, but I still think he has the talent to do it if he is protected.

I also thought Wentz could bounce back and have a solid season. Yes he has the talent you would think of a former #2 pick but his issue is between his ears. It started with his time in Philly when Foles won the Superbowl and they drafted Hurts. He never got his head screwed on right. Reminded of a hockey goalie losing their way. After being essentially given away by the Colts and being coached by the same guy from his rookie year, he still hasn’t mentally recovered.

    Trust me he’s damaged goods.

One of the upsides of the offense with Taylor is the heavy emphasis on the run game.   IMO Scott Turner struggled early on with a heavy passing scheme with Wentz at the helm.

The reason why I defended Turner some last season was I paid close attention to the run scheme when I was at the Raiders game and I noticed I hard a hard time predicting the run -- I'd follow for example the TE in motion going to the left and assumed that's where the run was headed but it would go instead to the right -- seemed like he did a nice job of misdirection and decoys.

And we've gone back to that post Wentz.  Granted to defend Wentz a little, he didn't really have Robinson in his prime, etc.

Good post! Yes we have created an identity on offense. Physical, pound the ball with occasional deep throws, control the time of possession and keep our defense fresh. I realize it’s not modern and fun to watch but I’ll take the wins!

Analysis is not hatred. QB being our number 1 need and Heinicke being the best QB on the roster can be true simultaneously.

Nothing wrong with discussing it and analyzing his performance but there are guys who literally act like Heinicke kicked their dog and stole their xmas gifts. Not saying you in particular but after posts after posts about his arm strength or lack there of or how we are winning despite him, it gets extremely old.

I will say this, I don't know if it is just the passing scheme/concepts but I am a bit concern that Dotson has been targeted a total of four times in three games since he returned, and Samuel is starting to disappear.  It feels like Heinecke is looking for McLaurin, and if he isn't there, then he goes straight to a TE for a check-down.

I'm not going to quibble too much when the team has won 6 of their last 7 games, but I'm a bit concerned about the lack of additional threats in the passing game.

I agree with you. It would be nice to have all your weapons involved. Dotson is still a rookie and I’m not sure Taylor has a tremendous amount of confidence in him coming down on a 50/50 pass. I still love him and think he will be fine but that Christian Watson who’s 6’4 is looking pretty damn good. He took a simple slant last night to the house for 60 yards and ran away from everyone.

As for Samuels, he is our 3rd down receiver and when you have a bunch of 3rd and really short, I prefer the run game to convert. I’m sure he will be more involved when we need longer conversions. Just my 2cents.

How would we stop a repeat of this with Barkley and Elliot...

We can limit Barkley. Yes he has bounced back this year but he has been struggling lately as defenses are gearing up to stop him. Not worried about Zeke as he is a similar runner to Barkley, straight ahead downhill runner. Pollard is concerning to me as he can get to the outside.

Still waiting on Jason Wright's "my bad" mea culpa this morning...

I dont put this debacle on Jason Wright. I put it on Tanya with Dan still basically running the day to day. It’s similar to the new name. Dan had made his decision the whole time even though they were saying “hey let’s get the fans input”. Dan is still the same conniving little man who had his lunch money taken by bullies as a kid.

  9. In football, the quarterback gets most of the credit if the team wins and gets most of the criticism when they lose. I don’t agree with it fully but it is what it is.

Whats dumbfounding is that we are winning yet with some of you guys you would think we are the laughingstock of the NFL. I’m not some kind of rosey colored fan who think’s Heinicke is gods gift to football. Just like you I have experienced sad futility for the last 30 years and would love to see something built correctly. At the same time, I’m also someone who lives in the present and enjoying the ride!

TH continues to be a horrendous QB who's closest comp is closer to Tebow than anything else.

You can’t compare Heinicke to Tim Tebow. Tebow was a first round pick coming in with high expectations. He had the prototypical tangibles you would want in a qb.  I’m sure he tried to be a better passer but never improved which forced him to change positions.

Taylor is not 6’4 230. He does still have intangibles that help him overcome some of his limitations.

That game was alot closer then it should've been IMO.  And whats going on with Jahon?  I'm worried because is he not fully 100%?  And if he is 100% (or as close as anyone could be at this point in the season) why does it seem like he can't gain separation from the defenders?  It's clear that we don't have a play in our arensol that we have displayed yet that will target him and get him the ball.

Dotson was the target on that pick but like I mentioned he was in heavy coverage but appeared to be open except for the lb sitting back in coverage. Give it some time but I agree we need to get him involved in the game plan. When Logan came back, he was barely targeted in the offense but he came around the last couple games.

I have never hated watching a player more. It’s a constant reminder of the lack of long term planning for the most important position in sports. The constant one season approach to team building thag has plagued this franchise for 20 years.

    I despise him

If you despise him so much. Simple solution don’t follow the Taylor or the team.

Let's say that does happen and he's anointed the starter going into next season. How's his 150 yards per game with 1.5 TDs and an interception going to look when we're not playing a last place schedule? Here's a hint...

    capjz0c2q1c41.gif

That sudden stop is no joke.

Sure we may crash and burn but that can happen to anyone. Heck look at the Rams this year with Stafford signed long term or the Broncos trading for Russell.

Can’t we just focus on this season?

    Is he?

He can only win if you run the ball 40 times and have a top 5 defense.

If you ask him to throw the ball more than 25 times, he can’t and will turn it over at an astounding rate.

For a guys who handle has reason in it seems like you have a personal vendetta against the guy. Maybe focus on getting into the playoffs then who is playing qb for us next year.

And I think the Tebow comparison is a bit of a stretch. Tebow was a first round pick.

There legit isn’t an option. Jimmy G is nyj bound. The draft isn’t happening. Who the hell does that leave? Maybe Rodgers asks out GB for a last hurrah? I see a Wentz Howell QB room next year. Levis 🤮. Let’s see about Richardson but I doubt he comes out. I want nothing to do with Levis and nothing to do with Ron picking the next QB in a lame duck year. If Ron’s gone like I’m still expecting then just blow the whole thing up next year anyways.

this franchise is in the crack of all cracks of needing to go one direction or the other. Unfortunately the go for it route doesn’t have an option that I would consider.

Hello, its the present time. Nice to meet you. Maybe worry about next year after the season or at least till we get eliminated.

We have been going in lots of directions for the last 30 years!  What’s another 5 games (hopefully more) to let it go?

  15. Im amazed by all the negativity. Yes Taylor is not our franchise qb and anyone who thinks he is the next Joe Montana is simply delusional.

We were 1-4 with Wentz at the helm and talking about draft position and who is gonna be fired. Heck the best news we had with the team was the potential sale by Dan.

Then Wentz gets hurt and the entire team steps up. We don’t give up the high number of sacks, Terry is a focal point of the passing game and most importantly we create an identity on offense. Now we are talking about the playoffs except the guys nitpicking on anything related to Taylor. Sure Taylor hasn’t necessarily won all these games himself ala Josh Allen or Mahomes but I’m all about being happy and positive about the wins.  Period!

Have you ever had a manager or boss that just seemed to get it and people just responded to him or her? Something to be said of those types of intangibles that can’t be measured. Taylor shouldn’t get all the credit for the wins but he’s the qb and in football you simply do. At the same time he should get the criticism if we lose but we’re not so help me understand all the negativity about him.

I'm ok with a TH (or any QB) interception if the play is contested a d the DB is fighting the WR for the ball.

I am NOT ok with the INTs that happen where the ball goes directly to a LB where he can catch it flat footed.  That is horrible decision making and/or placement of the ball.

Maybe I could see it if the QB threw in desperation as he was being drug down like the Mariota pass where he was more horizontal then vertical.. that I can accept.    But not the one that happened today. We left points on the board before the half.

We did not leave points on the board. There was only 24 seconds left and we were at midfield on a wet turf. We might have had to gotten 20 yards for a safe field goal.

And interceptions happen all the time with a defender you don’t see. Sure Taylor threw into heavy coverage but he took accountability for it. What do you want from him… an ounce of his blood for the mistake?

I could understand if that pick cost us the game so why nitpick over it. Jeez

BRob doesn’t look big enough to be dragging players down the field….he must be incredibly strong.

And whats even more amazing is that a running backs best quality is having strong quads and thighs and the guy was shot twice in a leg and maybe he is just starting to get his mojo back.

I predicted to my buddies during the game today that I think he could be NFLs leading rusher at some point in his career. He’s special.

  18. My buddy who is die hard Eagles fan here in Philly asked me to predict how many more wins the rest of the way. I told him earlier I’m just focused on Atlanta.

Not too sound cliche but one game at a time. Next up are the Giants and I hope the team just focuses on them. They’re not a great team certainly not a typical 7-4 team and Daniel Jones is a mistake waiting to happen.

Boy o boy if we beat then however, it will certainly be an interesting bye week and beyond. LETS GO!

I have been a supporter (not an apologist) of TH this season for a number of reasons, but that first half INT rips the soul out of you.

Taylor acknowledged that was a bad throw on his part. Not sure it rips the soul out of the team as we had only 14 seconds on the clock so getting a field goal was still a tall task. Oh I found myself saying it’s better that Taylor got that interception out of the way in a non-costly situation.

More importantly to me was why Ron didn’t call timeout before the 4th down by Atlanta.
