  1. Here is the Sapp and Riggs finish How about that Judo throw?
  2. I was thinking the same thing when I saw that RAW. Vince is the man. His kid isn;t bad either. Shane-O-Mac has been in some crazy matches.
  3. Penn's contract was up, but he was still UFC champ when he fought elsewhere. The UFC no likey when you do that. It is part of their champion clause". It was one of the contentions in the Fedor-UFC negotiations.
  4. Just got home from work and turned on the fights. Joe Riggs was being taken out on a stretcher. I didn't get to see the replay. The announcer said the finish was a body slam. Sapp got schooled. Stopped in the first from punches. None of them looked very brutal, but the guy he was fighting was BIG. An undefeated pro boxer.
  5. A new twist on that story http://mmamania.com/2008/02/20/randy-couture-signs-hdnet-fight-contract-that-will-be-effective-when-ufc-term-expires/ Cuban has signed Couture snipet: Cuban and HDNet Fights contend that Zuffa’s position regarding Couture is illegal because it interferes with his ability to seek gainful employment and practice his craft. As there is a small window though which Couture can compete as an elite-level athlete, HDNet Fights will look to expedite the court decision. It’s important to note that Texas law prohibits indefinite employment restrictions such as the restrictions Zuffa is attempting to place on Couture. -------- Looks like Couture-Fedor might be on by the end of the year in Dallas ( :puke: :dallasuck )
  6. This is awesome news: http://mmajunkie.com/2008/02/19/ufc-fight-night-13-will-be-a-three-hour-broadcast/ Spike is stepping up and airing 3hrs of Fight Night 13. Here is the card. I wish we could see all 11 fights. * Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon * Thiago Alves vs. Karo Parisyan * Tim Boetsch vs. Matt Hamill * Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin * Nate Diaz vs. Kurt Pellegrino* * Frank Edgar vs. Gray Maynard * Marcus Aurelio vs. Spencer Fisher * Josh Neer vs. Din Thomas * Clay Guida vs. Samy Schiavo * Roman Mitichyan vs. George Sotiropoulos * Anthony Johnson vs. Tommy Speer
  7. I don't think Babalu was ever suspended. The UFC did release him though. He was suppose to fight in San Diego last month, but the event got canceled the day of. Besides, Babalu fights at 205; not at heavy weight. Paul Buentello would be a great fight. They exchanged words a year ago about a fight and Paul just called him out again: http://mmamania.com/2008/02/19/kimbo-slice-next-fight/ “People want to see it. I think everybody wants to see it. Me and Kimbo should lace up the gloves. Everybody wants to see it and I think it’s time. He’s fighting all the guys I’ve already knocked out and I’ve already exposed. He needs to get off that buffet line I put out there and come over to my Paul Buentello taco shop and see if we can get to work.” This would be a great fight. I never bet against the head hunter.
  8. Crazy fight. Can't wait to see it, bit I'll wait until the last second tp pick it. That is going to be a classic.
  9. Lesnar is the favorite at the sportsbooks.
  10. my picks for UFC 81: Tyson Griffin vs. Glison Tiebau (yeah i know he probably spelled it wrong): Easiest fight to pick of the night. Griffin is in another class. (and after this fight he'll be in another weight class. He has said he will probably move to welterweight). Griffin almost always goes to the judges, but I think he makes a point of finishing this one. Griffin by TKO, 2nd round Ricardo Almeida vs. Rob Yundt: The UFC must think Almeida still has it. They are smarter than me Almeida by sub, 1st round Nate Marquardt vs. Jeremy Horn: I love Horn, but I think hos days of beating quality opponents are behind him. Nate will get this to the ground where he can control Horn and thats probably where most the fight will take place. Horn is hard to finish. This one could be a snoozer. Marquardt by UD Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar: I'm going back and forth on this one as well. Brock is talking a lot of smack (in third person no less). He knows how to play the heel and is doing a good job of it.I think he is a little too confident. If he was training at Militech, Coutre, AKA, Greg Jackson, or any other of the top gyms I would probably pick him. I don't think he is training with anyone as good as Mir. I've always liked Mir as a person and used to thinkhe was a good fighter. From everything I have seen and read Mir looks to be in great shape. He knows how important this fight is for his career (a loss might put him in the announce booth). He is one of the smartest fighters in the game. He knows he has to finish the fight. There is no way he wins a decision. If I was confident in his cardio I would feel safer about this pick, but I still think Mir catches Lesnar with something. Mir by sub in round 2 Timmay vs. Big Nog: Nog has lost to Josh Barnett, Fedor, and Dan Henderson. Thats it. He has avenged the losses to Barnett and Henderson. He has never been finished. That will not start with Timmay. I think Nog will eventually be able to get this fight to the ground where he will choke out the big goof. Nog by submission : Lets start picking these too guys, what do you say? Knockout of the night: Terry Martin over Marvin Eastman (hope they show this one) Submission of the night: Nog Anaconda chocke on Sylvia Fight of the night: to Martin-Eastman edit: changed fight of the night from Griffin-Tibau
  11. You need to do some research on what happened with Barnett and the steroids. You say he doesn't impress you. I am curious to know what fights of his you have watched. Please let me know. You mentioned him losing to Cro Cop 3 times. Did you see those fights? Suffered an injury in one. The last one was at the end of the GP where Barnett was coming off a war with Nog in the same night and Cro Cop was as fresh as could be. Randy has zero advantages over Barnett. Can't hang on his fight, and certainly can't hang on the ground with him. Herring landing one kick on Nog. A kick that would have knocked out most of the division. Everyone gets caught. He rebounded and won the fight. How you can hold that against him is beyond me. Randy vs. Fedor would NOT answer anything. Randy is NOT the number 2 in the world. He is 16-8. with one top ten win in the last 5 years (Sylvia. Jury is still out on Gonzaga). Randy and his people have done a wonderful job in the publicity department. They have everyone believing he is the number two guy in the world when he hasn't earned it. It wasn't even that long ago that Randy struggled with Mike Van Arsdale.
  12. My problem is that Randy was sitting on his couch "retired" after losing 2 of his last three and 3 of his last 5; he hadn't fought at heavyweight in years, and Dana handed him a shot at the heavyweight title and a new contract. He fights twice under his new deal and then walks because he only wants to fight Fedor. Guess what? Fedor wasn't signed to the UFC when Randy came back. He wasn't even on his radar. All of the sudden Randy beats Sylvia (who no one has ever really loved as a fighter) and a guy with only one notable win on his record in Gabriel Gonzaga, then Randy annoints himself as the clear cut number 2 fighter in the world and that Fedor is the only guy deserving to fight him. Nog and Barnett would both kill Randy and he knows it.
  13. Is anyone else pissed off at Coutre for what is happening, or is everyone siding with him? The way I see it Dana gave Randy a title heavyweight title shot straight out of "retirement" after having lost 2 of his last 3 fights. Then Randy decides he has no need to defend his belt against anyone the UFC can face him with. If Randy wants out of his contract so bad, then why doesn't he just fulfill it? He could have already fought once and have one fight left. He could be fighting Fedor in in 3-4 months if he wanted to. The only reason I can think of is that Randy is afraid to lose before he can fight Fedor.
  14. Looks like Fedor and his management is at it again. Next in line to fight the "best" fighter in the world is none other than 25-14-1 Semmy Schlit. A fighter Fedor has already beaten  Meanwhile Fedor's management is bringing in the real heavyweight #1 contender (in my book), Josh Barnett to fight Fedor's brother Alexander. Another rematch. Barnett owned Alex in Pride subbing him in the first round. I'm hoping maybe they are setting up a storyline of some sort that ends up being Barnett-Fedor next, but it is looking less and less likely that Fedor will ever fight a top 10 heavyweight. http://mmajunkie.com/2008/01/24/aleksander-emelianenko-expects-april-11-fight-with-josh-barnett/
  15. Soa Palelei vs. Eddie Sanchez: I think the reason this is on the main card is to showcase Palelei. For that reason: Palalei by KO Rich Clementi vs. Melvin Guillard: I don't like either one of these fighters. I think Melvin will have enough opportunities on his feet to knock Rich out Melvin by KO Rameau Sokoudjou vs. Lyoto Machida: Machida has too much experiance for Soku. He will frustrate and spoil Soku's UFC debut. Machida by decision Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva: This is a coin flip for me. I guess I am rooting for Wanderlie, but I will not be upset if Chuck takes it. Against Jardine it looked like Chuck was too used to 5 round fights and was very hesitant. I think Wandy takes iut to him early and we see samoe fireworks. Wandy by KO Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre: I will be rooting for GSP because Hughes is an ass, but Hughes is so focussed right now that I can't see GSP beating him again. Now that the dust has settled I am real glad we are seeing this fight instead of Hughes-Serra. I am laso very happy they made this a 5-rounder. Hughes by Sub Should be a great card. I will guarantee that it will not disappoint. I am psyched!
  16. Do you guys have Sopcast channels for the ppv tonight? PM me if needed
  17. Imes has won his last TWO fights by gogoplata. Crazy for a heavyweight.
  18. That was NOT an EliteXC show. It was a K-1 show.
  19. That was NOT an EliteXC show. It was a K-1 show.
  20. Apparently because Okami is boring http://ufcmania.com/2007/10/20/jason-macdonald-okami-is-boring-and-the-reason-ufc-77-bout-not-on-main-card/ Macdonald: “As far as the decision to not be on the main card, the UFC has told me that it has nothing to do with me. It has to do with the fact that Okami is a boring fighter. They know I’ll try to put on an exciting fight. In fact, as I felt the hotel on Thursday, I ran into Joe Silva, the matchmaker for the UFC, and he asked to talk to me to express that again and apologized in advance to me.” I think Silva wins easily and Vera-Sylvia is a toss up. I am going with Vera because I like him better. The rest of the card pretty much sucks.
  21. That's all I'm saying. I blame them both. I'm not as upset as most people though because I would much rather see Fedor fight Josh Barnett. I think Fedor would kill Coutre and I think Barnett is the only guy out there right not that can beat him. So, it looks like the Kongo-Nog fight is off. Nog gets the winner of Sylvia-Vera probably at Super Bowl weekend for the vacant title. http://ufcmania.com/2007/10/17/ufc-quick-quote-sylviavera-winner-to-fight-antonio-rodrigo-nogueira-for-vacant-heavyweight-title/
  22. I disagree that it is Dana's fault. You have to look at the big picture. If they would have made Fedor the highest paid fighter in the organization and given him all kinds of special clauses the UFC would be putting themselves in a bad position with their other fighters. Coutre has already said that he would have "held out" of a Fedor fight until they renegotiated his contract so he was getting at least as much as Fedor. The UFC did what they had to do. They let Fedor walk.
  23. Like Fedor wants to make sure his training partners get taken care of as fighters, he wants to fight in Russia which isn't in the UFC's plans, and the contract clause I mentioned earlier about defending the UFC title (if he wins it) before he can leave.
  24. It was more than just a the Sambo that kept Fedor out of the UFc. There were several sticking points.
