  1. I'd rather see Thiago-Rampage than a Rashad rematch, and I'd rather see Hammil-Davis than Rampage-Hammil
  2. It's not about a "toughness code". It is about presenting the product as what it is, and not compromising. Dana has turned down a lot of TV deals because he wants to make sure the UFC has control over the product. He won't let Showtime, HBO, CBS, ect., tell him how to do anything. The sport will get to be the biggest sport in the world one day. I'm with Dana on that. It is just going to take a lot of time. And that's fine. No. That was tongue in cheek. Thought it made a good little circle to illustrate a point. MMA Live was awesome online, not so much on TV. Sadly, I don't get HDNet. I have seen the show though. Used to seek it out. It has pretty bad production value though. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but I think the old online versions of MMA Live were much better. Yeah, they are kind of UFC-Centric, but that's what the sport is right now. I would watch much less NFL Total Access if they showed higlights of High School games for half the show. First, you are absolutely a Dana hater. That is as obvious as it is that Patrick is stalking Alistar Overeem and might kill him and wear his skin as pajamas. Second, the guy is running a business. A business he got out of the gutter and on almost every TV in the world. Ask the CEO of McDonalds how he feels about Five Guys Burgers and see what he says. Dana has every right to go after his competition. I take a lot of what he says with a grain of slat, but I also believe he is being very sincere even when he contradicts himself. Lots of people are sincere hypocrites. I bet we all have friends that are like that. If you don't maybe that guys is you.. When you are being filmed and interviewed as often as Dana is those things are going to happen. You can call him out for calling Fedor overrated, but you have to give him credit when a guy thrown out of the UFC taps him out. Part of that is the beauty of the sport, and hindsight says Dana understood that and knows that's why it wasn't worth paying Fedor as much as he was asking for to get him in the octagon. No one is THAT good in this sport. If they would have given Fedor everything the contract structure for every fighter would have changed. ---- Great news about the 5 round fights. Wasn't that long ago that Dana just dismissed the idea. Maybe he'll finally come around on fighting in a ring instead of a cage! :ducksforcover:
  3. Exactly. Serra is a natural 155er, btw ---------- Post added February-8th-2011 at 12:23 AM ---------- How many more fights do you want to see, and what price are you willing to pay for them? One of the things I love about MMA/UFC is that it is uncomprising. Get on board or get out of the way. Dana White isn't trying to get a Disneyland sponsorship, and I like it that way. We're already getting plenty of awesome MMA and plenty of mediocre MMA if you're watching everything. The best part about MMA getting big is ESPN doing Inside MMA, but the worst thing about MMA getting bigger is that ESPN butchered Inside MMA. ---------- Post added February-8th-2011 at 12:52 AM ---------- 91Jd-m6Qy94
  4. I don;t give a **** if people catch on to the sport or not. I want to see the best fights. Masses be damned. They've damned the sport for 20 years. Why cater to them now? ---------- Post added February-7th-2011 at 07:21 PM ---------- Oh yeah. Totally forgot GSP finished Miller in the first minute of their fight ---------- Post added February-7th-2011 at 07:23 PM ---------- There is zero evidenve that Silva has worse cardio than anyone in the sport. The guy just got worked in wrestling for 24 minutes before pulling off a sub! You cannot knock his cardio. And that was with a broken rib! (allegedly)
  5. How many people thought Shields could take Hendo down at will? He did. And Hendo has a great wrestling pedigree, and is much bigger than GSP to boot.
  6. So I take it I'm the only guy on the planet rooting for Shields? Anderson needs to move up to 205 and fight the winner of Jones-Shogun. I'd be much more excited about that than GSP-Anderson. I've detailed it too many times to rehash, And if they give GSP that fight in Canada I'm calling Shenanigans.
  7. **** Silva-GSP. Give me Silva Jones please. Also, forgot to post my picks here, but a hit a small parlay on the whole main card!
  8. Just finished watching the fights on dvr. I am convinced Cody learned all his footwork and head movement by studying Sam Elliot in Road House. ---------- Post added January-23rd-2011 at 10:49 PM ---------- :rotflmao: You know Diaz places in triathlons in his down time, right?
  9. That was a hell of a fight. Better than most Strikeforce Challenger fights. See how tired the Japanese guy was? And Gracie could have gone another 5mins. ---------- Post added January-21st-2011 at 08:15 PM ---------- Pretty cool. The host being the test case made it that much better. BJ looked a little worried there at the end.
  10. GSP would never hurt Diaz, or ever have him in any danger of being finished, but you're right. He would take him down all day and win a 5 round decision.
  11. I also really like that beer. i have some magnums of them. I don't generally like "xmas beers", but the Anchor is really good. They are suppose to age wonderfully as well. ---------- Post added January-16th-2011 at 09:55 AM ---------- So many things wrong with that statement.
  12. How is the "Thank you very much"? My brother is sending me one of those.
  13. Reem hasn't gotten there for me yet. I've seen him submitted too many times, and I haven't seen him beat guys that are bad matchups for him yet. He needs to win this tournament for me to put him in the top 3-5.
  14. How long until Patrick launches ExtremeReem.com?
  15. I'm thinking of taking Lesnar at those odds and then hedge it closer to fight time when I'm pretty sure it will move the other way. No, JDS can't stop Lesnar's takedown the whole fight, but after watching Lesnar flail around after getting hit by Cain, JDS may only need to land one jab then open it up for a TKO.
  16. Who else could it be? Cro Cop is fighting Shcuab. Struve is booked..... Can't think of anyone else.
  17. Suffer? Did you suffer through the first one? That was a very exciting fight. I'm sure the next one will be too when they eventually fight again. If JDS loses he will probably just need one win to get his shot. Mir-Nelson is booked, and Carwin is booked vs vs. the always tough TBD. Wonder who that will be. Nog? Barry?
  18. That pic must have been before the horse meat diet.
  19. ---------- Post added January-10th-2011 at 10:14 AM ---------- Didn't think of that. Good point.
  20. Also got Dr. Do Itch Big's picks. Keep 'em coming boys (and keastman). Wonder who Patrick's going to pick.......
  21. Got SU's picks and sent mine to him. He provided the finish with round, so I did the same. We can use that as a tie breaker, or add it in to a total point system. Any ideas on scoring? Most correct winners wins is what I was thinking, but I guess we can do different point values per round of the tourney and bonus points for correct finish picks. Simplest is obviously most picked winners wins and then go to the finishes for a tie breaker.
  22. Alright guys. Let's get a little contest going PM me all predictions. I'll PM to someone else. Maybe the first person to PM me? Open to suggestions there. What a crappy setup, btw. I know we've touched on it already, but one half of the bracket has the #1-3 contenders! ---------- Post added January-8th-2011 at 06:05 PM ---------- How about all the losers have to proclaim the winner king of MMA in their sig, or something along those lines. "Sebowski is the ES MMA Guru" maybe.
  23. I thought they were really looking at Lesnar-Mir. With the Mir-Nelson news I believe they are thinking of doing Lesnar-JDS for an interim title.
