  1. Same reaction I had. At least they are putting Bisping against someone that isn't a too weak this time. Sucks that the Michida Silva fight scheduled for UFC 89 was canceled. That was a much better fight.
  2. Where did you all watch it? I watched it at Hard Times in Springfield. Not as good as buffalo billiards in DC but not bad in a pinch. The plan was to go to my friends house but that was canceled and I wasn't about to miss this fight card.
  3. The Sherk fight never tested BJ's conditioning. It was a weak boxing match against some of the shortest arms in the UFC (sherks). Sherk came in with a game plan almost as bad as Silva had when the Axe Murderer decided to stand still and swing at Ladell. Will he be able to go 5 rounds with most of it spent on his back? GSP will score several takedowns.
  4. No way. It may not have been the 10-8 round that the first was but GSP won every round and two of them were 10-8 IMO. The judge that had it 50-43 was right on the money.
  5. Reactions: Lesnar is a poorly trained bear. He landed one clean punch and half of the other guys face turned purple. If he ever learns to do something while fully controlling his opponent he's a nightmare for all heavyweights. Huerta should not have taken this kind of fight so early in his career. Hopefully he responds well to seeing his limits. Huerta needs to focus on becoming a complete fighter. Right now he's raw talent with decent boxing and good wrestling. Kenny fought a great fight and should get in the ring with Sean "Clemens" Sherk. GSP has to be considered in the pound for pound conversation. He just absolutely dominated a very good fighter. He was able to take down a fighter with some of the best take down defense in the UFC (70%) down at will. Huge performance by GSP tonight. Thoughts on GSP vs BJ. Fighting BJ would definately be GSP's biggest challenge yet but if I had to pick a winner I'd favor GSP. BJ's conditioning is over stated and GSP is by far the better conditioned between the two. Let's also keep in mind the two have fought before and GSP won. One more thing to consider: Look at the records and the quality of opponents the two have fought since then. GSP has looked amazing against MUCH stronger competition.
  6. You seemed to miss the part where I said if Silva can fight his way through the 205's and become a champ. I agree that he has yet to fight a good enough list in the UFC. If he makes his way through a stacked LHW division however his resume will be much stronger. Like you said HW is where the talent was in MMA. Much like boxing however the real athletes are now found below the HW level. HW is slower and while you noted that the punches were fast the general movement of the fighter is FAR FAR FAR slower.
  7. If Spider Silva continues to fight at 205 and becomes the champ of the weight class he will be considered the best p4p fighter in the world. It's all about competition and the heavy weight division is simply NOT where the best MMA fighters are found. Commonly the fighters up there are slower and much more limited in their attacks than in other weight classes.
  8. I've thought the heavy weight division sucked for a long time. I will admit however that I've never been into heavy weights in MMA. They are generally slower and more boring to watch. Having said that Randy Couture's appeal has been his age. Not a whole lot of 45 year olds fighting for titles these days. Also in MMA quick knock outs happen. Look at Liddell Rampage. Does that mean no 205 in the UFC can touch Rampage? Clearly it doesn't being that he recently lost. You're logic that what Fedor did means that no one in the UFC can touch him is garbage.
  9. Thought the event sucked. What can I say. Production value was weak, fights were so so, main event took forever to start and sucked. It was a long poorly produced comercial for overly priced graphic tees.
  10. The one that was so nice to Shogun and the "amazing" croc op.
  11. Not all the main events are good in the UFC.... but you are getting one a month and sometimes two. There is a lot of MMA to watch with UFC and when that's the case not every main event is going to include a known and respected fighter. There are new guys making names for themselves and some mid level guys that may not be great but put on a good show.
  12. You mean by dodging the cage that gave all the other pride fighters fits? I don't think so. Fighting an aging slowing Sylvia in an unfamiliar setting isn't a big deal. It's just the best affliction could do. The event sucked IMO.
  13. The pay out of his fights at 205 will change that tune fast. There is no one for him to fight at 185. Spider isn't done in 205 IMO, even if he doesn't know it yet.
  14. Affliction SUCKS. How much longer could the wait for the main event be? Terrible. Edit: And it's a horrible main event at that. UFC still has MMA on lock down, and the cage is better than affliction: pride wanna be.
  15. Silva has gone past round two how many times? He dominates everyone. What he just did to a homerun hitter should get him a big 205 fight next unless the UFC is stupid and puts some fool on him at 185 for a title fight. There is no one in 185 that needs to be rushed into a fight with Silva right now. Lidell, Wandy, or Jackson should be next for him. If he wins he deserves a title shot. Spider is insanely good right now and needs to be fast tracked.
  16.   That's great.
  17. The judges must have not taken power or damage into consideration at all. In most exchange Forest failed to land anything or landed weak and took a strong hit to the head for his trouble. I've watch many Forest fights and while he doesn't have knock out power in his hands he does throw hard punches... I didn't see that in the rampage fight, at least I didn't see any land.
  18. I didn't even like Pride and have thought their fighters were over rated when they came to to the UFC and had to get used to the cage. I just hate titles going to guys that played for points and mostly just tried to nuetralize the champ instead of damaging him at all. Rampages face was a fresh as it was when he showed up for the fight despite the fact that Forrest spent 3 minutes on top pretending like he was fighting.
  19. I don't think that's true. Imagine win or go home PPV events I think those would draw pretty well being you could argue that what is on the line is greater than you average title fight or at least on par. The problem would be how many fights could you fit into a year per fighter. They'd be fighting 6 times or more a year. That's three times more than they do now usually.
  20. Personally I think traditional combat sport organization should be dropped and forgotten because it's horrible. I'd organize the weight class by divisions and have them fight it out and move up tournament style so there is no question of the champ or rank. This uncertainty make combat sports painful for new fans that don't know who is who and allows fighters to get title shots on name and fame. Champ should be decided at the end of the season and given auto entry to the tournament the following year as the #1 seed. From your list however I'd remove Jardine, the lose of Liddell/Evans, Rua (no recent wins and no fights at all in almost a year), and Machida (beating an Ortiz that isn't even dedicated to MMA at the moment, doesn't prove anything). I'd say the top contenders are obviously Jackson, Spider Silva if he handles Irvin (champs deserve a fast track), and Liddell if he beats Evans.
  21. If Silva wins I'd do Rampage v Spider Silva winner gets a title fight. There is no point in giving Silva a long road to the title being that he's already holding a title. Put him up against the best and if he wins get him into a title fight. Champs should get fast tracked. If Chuck wins I'd give him the title shot immediately against Forrest.
  22. I watched the 2nd round, I'm just not sure what I saw. I either saw a fighter unable to hit someone laying underneath him with any of significance... which is pretty damn pathetic. Or more likely I saw a contender for a belt that realized he couldn't beat his opponent trying to stay on top and stay active "enough" to avoid being stood up. In fact that's what I saw the whole fight. Forrest realized he couldn't beat Rampage and played for the decision. He stayed "active" and ran around throwing pillow punches before jumping back on his bike. Leg kicks were there to ensure rampage couldn't chase him by the looks of it.
  23. Let's talk about dominating rounds 2. He put rampage on his back... and did what? Watch the round again. The only thing he could land from a dominant position are little tiny forearm pushed instead of thrown. The the kind of crap you can't do and get awarded a belt. A normal fight fine but you can't lay on a champ for 5 minutes accomplish nothing at all and win a belt. That is my complaint. Other than a leg Forest didn't do anything... well other than catch punches and get wobbled and knocked off his feet... or sent running away to avoid a KO. TITLE FIGHT. That is what makes it BS. This is a TITLE FIGHT. The champion does not lose the belt to a guy that couldn't even land a damn punch. Forest one by being more "active" but couldn't even land a punch on a guy fighting on one leg. Watch the punching exchanges.
