  1. I haven't formed an opinion yet on Kingsbury. If that is what Quinn and the front office want, I will support the decision. However, if they wanted Kingsbury, why didn't they go after him initially? Why did it take a contract snafu with the raiders to put him in play with us?
  2. There is an implication among some on this board that Slowik is a "nice guy" and may not possess the necessary leadership skills to run a team as a HC. What is the basis for that position. I watched the press conference he held before the Browns game and I saw a passionate, well spoken and focused individual. Maybe he is not a screamer. Maybe he earns the players trust by having their back and showing that he cares about them as people and players. Leadership skills come in different formats. I trust the new regime to make the right call
  3. While Johnson is my first choice, I like that Slowik has experience on the defensive side of the ball. Makes him uniquely qualified to be the head coach of the entire team and not a glorified play caller.
  4. I know there will be time for this if/when the sale goes through and the front office is cleared out, but i was looking at the Eagles front office personnel. One name that stood out was Alec Hataby, assistant GM. Appears to be a young guy climbing up the ranks. Doesn't hurt that he went to Harvard. I also looked at the Pittsburgh Steelers front office personnel. Remember, Josh Harris owns a percentage of the Steelers and got to see first hand how a quality organization is run. A name of interest there is Andy Weidl who is the assistant GM. After reading up on him I was impressed with what others have said about him. Doesn't hurt that before joining the Steelers he was with the Eagles front office. I know this post is premature, just wanted to throw some names out there if/when the front office shakeup takes place. I am sure there will be other names when the time comes. In Harris I trust.
  5. I heard Mike Florio on Mad Dog sports a few weeks ago. He was giving his opinion on recent NFL coaching hires. His opinion was that a team should never hire a defensive coach to be the head coach. His reasoning was that the most important relationship on the team is that between the head coach and the QB. If the relationship is developed between the OC and the QB the OC can leave for a HC job, leaving the QB high and dry. Applying this to Washington, if 2023 is a success and Howell develops, EB can leave and Howell would need to start a new relationship with a new OC. This is not ideal for a young QB who needs consistency and continuity. Here is my thought. I am not an insider and not breaking any news...just offering an opinion. I never quite understood why EB came here to be OC when he was already an OC. Sure he is out from Reid's wings, making more money and has a Assistant HC title. But still...an odd move going from KC to Washington as an OC. What I think is that there is already an agreement in place, at least in principle, that EB will be the new HC. Of course this is premised on the team having success and the new owner being on board. However, as between RR and EB, I think this is what they have agreed upon.
  6. Any word on EB's staff? Will he be bringing anyone from KC? I know its only been a few days, but I was hoping to see some staff additions.
