I rarely do for the reasons I just stated. If he really likes TH a lot then why did he spend the previous two off seasons trying like crazy to replace him? I believe actions and not coach speak reveals the true feelings

Rivera may have felt a strong need to replace TH as QB1 and yet be entirely comfortable with him as QB2. No inconsistency required.

In addition to "coach speak" there is also such a thing as "fan listen" - when fans blow off a coach's comments with which they disagree as mere lip service.

You really believe a coach when he says that? When have you ever heard a coach dog any player? His comments were coach speak, they mean nothing.

If that's the case, why would you believe anything he says? Why bother to watch his interviews at all?

Interesting interview thanks. Couple of observations, TH is done at QB. Plus Rivera said they really like a couple of the Alabama LB’s. Wonder if Harris would have been the pick in the third if he hadn’t been picked at 75. Assume Alabama LBs in 2023 may be high on the watch list.

I must have watched a different interview. In the one I saw, Rivera said he was very happy with his top two QBs, Carson and Taylor ("...who we really like a lot"). He said Howell is in a position where he can learn from the top two guys without a lot of immediate pressure.

In my rankings I added draft value to my takes and had him as a late third -- exactly more or less where they took him.  The value IMO is fine.

People are going to love this guy eventually.  He's a thumper but with sneaky good speed and underrated hands.

He can run both zone and power.  He had 22 runs of 15 plus yards. So he's not just a short yardage grinder.

If you want to play some ball control and grind down the opponent in the 4 quarter -- how about dealing with a 6 '1, 225 RB with 4.53 speed.

... as opposed to the tiny Antonio Gibson at 6'2" and 220 with 4.4 speed? Robinson hits hard, but he isn't really a big back.

If there’s no evidence though, I feel for the heroic whistleblower because Snyder will surely sick his attorneys on him and sue him into bankruptcy just as a warning to others considering coming forward.

    <snip>

If there's no evidence because it didn't actually happen, which seems increasingly likely, then the "heroic whistleblower" is neither heroic nor a whistleblower and deserves whatever unpleasant attention Snyder's attorneys may visit upon him.

The problem with getting receiver 7 is that he isn’t going to change a defense’s gameplan. Pretty much ever. And none of the physical, punishing style that London has.

I think London is heads and tails the best overall receiver in this draft. To the degree some here think Lloyd is far and away the best LB.

But if you’re looking to pop the top off of a D, London’s schematic fit drops him a bit. I don’t know why we’d be looking for that. We have Dyami who was drafted to do that.

I don’t love Watkins like many. I’ve seen the fast receiver thing before. Sure, he’ll score a few touchdowns because of his speed. But what else does he offer? Maybe I’ll try to find more of him but from what I’ve seen he’s a take the top off guy.

Terry Mac was the 12th receiver selected in 2019. Granted, he's an exception.

I heard one of the sports talking heads (whose name escapes me) say something a month or so ago that has stuck with me ever since.

He said that having two top receivers used to be the gold standard but he said that offenses that can force your third corner to cover someone that is the equivalent of a number one wideout on an good team can be UNSTOPPABLE.

He said it really doesn't matter if that third guy is a wideout or a te but he said there is no team in the league with the cb depth to face three tier one receivers.

That was how it worked in the days of Monk, Clark, and Sanders. You had to cover one of Monk/Clark with your #2 corner and Sanders with your #3. That generally didn't end well.

So I saw Cam say there was a plan to get him more involved in the offense. And I posted this idea on Twitter and just curious yalls thoughts. Cam is 6’5 220 with a 4.56 40. Cam could probably put on 10-12 pounds without losing much athleticism. what if they started using Cam as say a Joker TE type? would allow him to be more involved in the offense and gives you another potential weapon and mismatch to exploit if it worked. Worth a shot or nah?

That depends. Would this involve signing Cam to a contract and putting him on our team?

  9. So... 1) the front office somehow failed to convey to McKissic that they wanted to keep him, and 2) they assured Ion's agent that his client would not be cut.

This fails to give me warm and fuzzy feelings about their competence and professionalism.

And, 3) they just tweeted that Collins had been cut when he hadn't. Oopsie.

McKissic was nowhere near as good as Gibson.  Gibby had 1037 rushing yards, 294 receiver yards, and 10 total touchdowns.

    Mckissic 2021: 48 Rushes, 212 Yds, 4.4 per, 2 TD plus:  43 Receptions, 397 Yds, 9.2 per, 2 TD

    Gibson 2021:  258 Rushes, 1037 Yds, 4.0 per, 7 TD plus 42 Receptions, 294 Yds, 7.0 per, 3 TD

    Not seeing it.

Also: Gibson 6 fumbles, McKissic none.

    Don’t you do it…

that’s why I was wondering how many are in covid protocol because they were just close contact.

18 confirmed cases on one team at one time breaks the record by a lot.

My comment was in response to an article about the NFL as a whole. As of November 17, 94.3% of players in the league had been vaccinated. It's difficult to see how there can be a "COVID-19 outbreak among unvaccinated players" that would cause the NFL to follow through on its threat to forfeit any team's games.

The NFL rescheduled several games last season due to the ongoing pandemic. For this season, the league implemented several rules to help teams navigate the pandemic, including expanding the practice squad roster. The NFL made it clear before the start of the season that games would not be rescheduled due to COVID-19 outbreaks. Furthermore, the league stated that teams could be forced to forfeit games if there was a COVID-19 outbreak among unvaccinated players.

This appears to be primarily an outbreak among vaccinated players.
