For all intensive purposes we may actually be winning off the field.
That's "For all intents and purposes."

Did we really need Eugene Shen to explain the value of those trades….what a sorry state of affairs.
The implication is that nobody on the staff understood them. I have no trouble whatsoever believing this.

Remember last winter when the coaching staff decided this team was on the verge of greatness, and only being held back by its free-agent QB?
Good times, good times.

We're in a draft thread talking about picks. I'm sorry if I don't make every single post in here only about Redskins picks.
Surely there are other forums where you can yammer away about your Packers.

Okay, I guess we're just not gonna try at Safety. It took me longer to cover that position in the Mock draft than I wanted, but the picks just didn't fall that way for me. The Packers here have had every opportunity to cover this position and just aren't taking it. I guess it's still possible someone falls to their late 6th round pick, but really don't seem to be interested. Does J.L. Skinner actually suck? Or do they still like some other lower-rated guys that are still available?
Sorry.. what forum are we on again?

Since Carson is no longer on the team, does that mean we can't talk about him anymore?

It's ****ing weird how much people want this guy to bust so they can bag on him. I really don't get it at all.
It's pretty ****ing lame honestly.
Now do Heinicke.

I, too, would like to believe that the team took "the next step" under Rivera.
But I don't.

Heinicke wound up 27 of 41 for 275 yards. Two TDs no picks. Fumbled once, took 4 sacks. He missed a couple of throws but made a remarkable 4th down conversion to keep hope alive in the 4th quarter. He also held onto the ball when he was blasted at the goal line. This in a tough road game against a playoff contender, and without much help from his O-line.
I would count this as a pretty solid performance.

Change of pace from the "arm strength and INTs" debates 👍
This is oddly disturbing.

Probably better to head off the possibility than to react to it after the fact. The DEs last year put on a clinic in freelancing.

I just can't imagine winning many more games, without any offensive points being scored by us.
Can you imagine winning 5 of the last 6?

Yeah, I disagree. I think he saw 3 and thought he had enough loft on it to get it over him. Instead he threw it 5 yards in front of the receiver and to his back foot.
This seems reasonable to me except that I don't think the pass was 5 yards short. A yard or so higher and a couple of yards to the left and he might have had a completion.
It's still a mistake, of course, but not the completely brain-dead hopeless throw into triple coverage that it first appeared.

I'm now cheering for TH to take the team to the Super Bowl just to see half the posters here set themselves on fire.

RR on making Heinicke the starting QB:
Reporter: "What was it that Taylor has shown you to lead you to this decision?"
Rivera: "Winning."

Yes I suppose everyone else on the team could be kidnapped by aliens for the next year and a half or something.
See? There you go.

It's zero unless Heinicke starts tossing 4 TDs per game for 400 yards and dominating through the air against our remaining opponents. He's the exact same guy he was last year and they made it very clear that they didn't see him as a legit starter.
There's no chance they go into next season with him as the starter. Zip.
There's always a chance.

I hope that's not a suggestion that we keep him the starter for two more years!
It's a suggestion that he starts until Howell or a rookie QB beats him out for the job.
27 minutes ago, mistertim said:And start who, exactly? Heinicke isn't a starting NFL QB. The Commanders have been very clear on that. There's zero chance they go into a season with him as the starter.
The chance isn't large, but it also isn't zero. If Heinicke takes them into the playoffs and wins a game or two, it might well be on the table.
I realize this notion will cause you to experience anguish and outrage, but that's life in the big city.

Comparable performance from Heinicke for less than a tenth of the salary. And you get all the intangibles for free.
It's actually tempting to consider re-signing him to a modest two-year deal and spending the savings on OLs and LBs.

The Vikings sound like they're going to stop the post-win chains ceremony because of Heinicke. If the Vikings want to make it equal, they need Kirk to start wearing shoes with the team colors of whoever they beat.
Now Taylor has wrested the chains thing away from the Vikings. He continues to destroy all in his path.

You'd really need to factor in passing attempts per game to make that a valid comparison. They've been running a lot more of late.
