Ty for saying that, I cringe when I read that, it sounds like a roadside assistance feature Google would come up with not an abbreviation of a name.

Somebody made a post a day or so a go that said GMAP like 50 times, it sounded like Bienemy talking about himself in the 3rd person, it was like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Probably because of IMAP, GMAP makes me think of some sort of proprietary internet protocol (maybe Google Messaging Access Protocol).

I have to admit I've been wrong multiple times, and I did think Tua was a safer pick than Herbert.

I think a whole lot of people missed on Herbert.  One big question was due to the dink and dunk offense that Oregon ran.  A lot of experts thought it was due to Herbert but it seems it was more on the offense that the team wanted to run. Another thing was that his junior was only so-so. Yes, he was definitely the number 3 at best based on what info was available at the time. Even now, it could be argued that Tua actually has probably had the better career to this point while Burrow has obviously been the best of the group when healthy.

  3. Whatever QB we draft will be a bust. Do people not realize we are cursed to not have a quality QB that WE draft high (we have the record for most consecutive years using top 10 picks on a QB). Of our top 5 guys, only Baugh was higher than a second round pick. Snead did get us Sonny and RG3 did give us probably one of the greatest years a QB in Washington has ever had. Our best include a guy who was originally a 4 (albeit we got him by trading Snead), a guy who George Allen traded for (he was probably expected to be the backup), another guy who was originally a 4 by the Dolphins (we got him via a George Allen trade), a 6th rounder, and another 4th rounder. Meanwhile, of the 12 times we've used our 1 on a QB since Baugh, only Snead did us a solid by getting us Sonny while the rest were pretty much busts.

I know its recency bias but watching these young TEs in the playoffs is making me salivate.  I think he has more upside that any of these TEs aside from Bowers of course.  Yeah me, too it would be a trade back.

I am a BPA guy.  But I admit its tough for me to skip O line in the first two rounds again.  i can do it in the first.  but the 2nd, too?     They'd really have to sign two marquee O lineman in FA for me to run with a lets pass on the O line in the first and 2nd again drill.

I do think some here are at the extreme when advocating taking an O line in the first is a must.  I don't think I am going to an extreme for wanting one with one of our 2nd round picks.    Normally, I don't boxed myself into a spot.  But considering the neglect at that spot, I can't ignore it.

Big advantage LaPorta had is a HC who was a TE and then a TE coach, an OC who spent several years as a TE coach, a QB who started his rise to the top with an OC whose background was as a TE coach. I could see us going for a TE if we go to Ben Johnson but I also can see him believing he can coach up the TEs we have.

That is becoming more apparent with every passing day. Without Brady, Belichick looks like he did with the Browns in the 90s. None of his former assistant coaches have ever turned their teams into anything decent either. Guess it helps when your HOF QB is willing to take less $$$ because his supermodel wife makes 4x as much as he did...

Maybe that will be a new draft strategy: evaluating the hotness of a rookie QB's girlfriend/wife. I'm sure that will fit into some kind of algorithm when it comes time to negotiate a new contract...

He actually did OK with the Browns given the handicaps (the move, the competition and a bare cupboard). It is more of the fact that a 70+ year old may not have as much energy as he did 15-20 years ago plus he has a model of how to run a team that was successful which may not work as well as it did and might have only worked due to ownership (he was thought to be on the hot-seat according to most experts as late as November 2001), a little luck, innovation of the type yet to be seen a lot and quickly turning the team into winners (many players love winning and will put up with loads of crap if they win) as winners tend to continue to win while losers tend to continue to lose (talent and coaching ability is not only thing different between winners and losers). While a big reason was a QB GOAT, this GOAT did not make outrageous salary demands, played at a high-level for years (most coaches will have a bad year or two because they are developing a guy) and was probably the de-facto OC for several of the seasons.

  6. Jets defense is more comparable to our defense then the Raiders defense. While Allen also can make plays out of bad situations, so can Wilson and I don't see that happening to us two games in a row. Buffalo has put up some decent defensive numbers but they also played two of the worst offenses in the NFL. So far, we also have shown we don't go away and our defense has made at least 6 big plays already compared to last year when we made less than 1 per game. While many of these numbers could be flukes (we are only 2 games in), I don't think they are. The last time we started 3-0 was also the last time we won a playoff game. If we are actually good (something that we haven't seen around these parts for years), we will likely win this game by a Tuddy in Q4. What scares me the most would be if we needed a FG to win and get the opportunity at clutch time (well, we do have an all-pro holder which helps).

I just provided a lot more than 2 exceptions. Howell is 6 foot 1.25 inches. Average, not short in todays NFL.

Height does not equal being great at the QB position. If it did Daniel Jones would be a superstar.

You really don't have to provide exceptions.  There really is no ideal height for a QB though most great ones have been between 6-0 and 6-4 but there are too many exceptions to use that range as a standard.

We also had only one reciever and a secondary that couldn't hold water.

On top of that, there were no options in 2022 better than Dotson, Robinson and Howell (I think those are the products of our trade with New Orleans) and probably no better options when we actually picked than Dotson (WR was as critical a need as OL). I'd agree that corner was also about as critical a need as OL and no first round worthy OL was available. I think the only argument here might be that we would have been wiser to go with Mauch over Martin. I don't think looking at the draft is a good criticism.  Arguments is not going hard to save our relationships with Williams and Scherff along with the inability to find that jaw-dropper in the weeds, especially when you know the cornerstone of the offense you wanted to run from 2020 to 2022 depended as much on elite oline play as anything.

  9. This game shows how tight the NFL margins are.  We were just 2 plays away from losing but also just two plays away from nearly blowing Denver out.

Denver makes the 2 point and then wins in OT or we get stopped on our final TD (a 3-8 early in that drive was only converted because they held). They win 35-41.

We left 6 points on the field (and arguably up to 18) and that might have meant Denver has to go for it on 4th down on that FG drive near the end and a HM is meaningless so they don't try. We win 41-24.

I think this game will prove valuable. Plenty to learn from the positive and negative things that happened.

If Sam is have a nice career, then this game could be the one where the legend of Sam's Club was born.

The next 2 weeks are going to very hard because the Bills and Eagles, aren't the Cards or Broncos.

If we fall behind, we can learn from this game and not give up and keep plugging away until things go our way.

Now, the thing we don't is not to fall behind because falling behind bad teams is one thing but fall behind good teams is another.

Also, if do have a nice lead; we don't want to let the opponent back into the game. Buffalo and Philly are better equipped to come back and take away victory from us.

I think this game helps us in the short term and long term; even if there are changes next year.

Sam still has a ways to go but he earned his 1st 4th quarter come from behind win and as has been pointed out, he's 3-0.

I think technically, it is his second,

My greatest thrill was all the screens and swings that actually worked for big yards.  I really believe that getting those going in EB's offense, especially when you don't have elite oline play, is key to getting some big downfield plays.

Anyone watching that game andcoming away with - same old Washington or this was a win that was really a loss is really jsut loking for reason to complain.

This was one of the best wins this team has for years. I would argue it was even better than the TB come back (You like that!) ALso, checked a lot of boxes.

EB as an OC - he showed out today. Not just play calling but his willingness and ability to make in game adjustments. Not sure why they felt they needed to be so pass heavy in the first but they came out and established the run in the second half. EB showed me a lot today. Ds d is decent, not great but decent.

Sam Howell - this kid is legit (while @KDawg has been one of the most vocal, many of us have been saying he has the tools to be very very goodd. His ceiling is pretty high. He never got rattled. No matter the score or the play. Really short memory. And that arm! Arm talent like that is very hard to find. Put a cerebral hard working brain with it and you have something. He made some rookie mistakes but he is gonig to do that. Biggest thing is be jsut a bit more decisive. But I like that he learned from last week and throw more balls away when he held it too long. He can be coached. Very impressive.

Chase Young took a big step tyo showing why he makes us better. Like the rest of the team, once he shook off the 1st Q jitters, he balled out! Great team D! WHich was different. He played more within the confines of the D today at least from what I saw. He needsa to get the spin move down and stop running past the play as often but he was better today. ANd that freakish athletisism led him to make some great palys. Yes he had a few bone head penalties but he has not seen hardly any playing time in a yr or more.

Half time/in game adjustments. Both the off and Def took it on the chin in the first half (mostly the 1st Q. Both made significant adjustments and balled out.

Lots of other kudos to go around but those were 3 huge questions answered, at least for one game.

BTW: Oline was truly **** the first half. But even they settled down in the second half. Running more helped. They got some rythm and started pass blocking a little better. Still need massive upgrades for the long haul. But they did better in the second half.

Lots to work still. Bills will kill us next week i we come out slow again. They are too good a team and Allen found himself today. But if they play within themselves, they can at least compete. May still lose but should be able to compete.

Great win!!!  Going to enjoy this one!

Seems that it has been since 2017 that our games have been about who gets to 21 first.  This was the first game it seems in such a long time that it was more about who got to 30 first.  Also, in the past, our final TD would have just been a FG.

Yeah 3 runs up the middle stunk. I think EB won't do that next time. Having a rookie behind center also played a part.  But like I said....I don't think EB goes that route next time.

When your punter is Tress Way and, for the most part the defense is shutting the other guys down, going for the win like we did is a good strategy.

If Josh Harris replaces the Rivera regime, then that'll be it for Sam Howell.  I could definitely see a new regime trading up for a QB.  The problem is it won't be to get to #2 because the teams who are picking top 2 in this class just aren't going to give up Williams or Maye.  They are too special.  So we're talking about trading up for QB3 most likely, and that makes my stomach churn.

Don't agree.  I think Rivera needs to win at least 1 playoff game with Howell as his guy to have any chance to keep his job.  We get to the playoffs (though we lose our first game) or are the first or second team out of them, Rivera will likely be gone and EB probably gets the first bite of the apple. This scenario would mean that most likely the Howell experiment showed enough promise and probably go oline if one is available. If the Howell experiment falls on its ass due to Howell's failure, Harris replaces Rivera and we move up to find another QB.  In this case, we do need to move on from Howell, anyway. This third scenario is the only one where I see us moving on from Howell.

Yeah, Howell has always taken sacks. He's going to try and make every play work. Sometimes it's a scramble or off script throw, sometimes it's a sack.

As long as it isn't fumbles and complete floating turkey balls, I'm good with it.

Yep, I think the reason guys like Rodgers takes a lot of sacks is because he knows his athleticism can often keep a bad call alive until it becomes a good play.  Manning did not have that level of athleticism to turn a bad call into a good play so as soon as he knew the call would not work, he got rid of the ball. I don't think Howell likes to go with the wimpy play if he thinks his athleticism can get him to the good play. I think he might be right but sometimes you just need to trust your defense (especially when it is good) or have awareness that when you don't necessarily need a play that's going to get 15-20 yards, go with the one that gets you positive yards if there is good reason to believe that going for the bigger play will likely result in a TO or an incompletion.
