  1. That's because on those other sites they have multiple threads devoted to discussion of their uniforms. Here, the mod staff is smart enough to consolidate it into one thread. As for the pants discussion, I do want them to bring the burgundy pants back, but I don't want them to get rid of the gold. It's the white pants that have to go; I've never liked them even back in the 80's. Just seemed so bland underneath the burgundy tops. I'd prefer these combinations: Home: Burgundy tops, gold pants Away: White tops, burgundy pants Special Occasions: Current throwbacks Also, I'd like for them to add the striping back to the burgundy pants, and then add the corresponding striping to the gold pants. (i.e. the stripes are white and gold on the burgundy pants, and should be burgundy and white on the gold pants). Then, make sure that the number of stripes on the tops' sleeves match the number of stripes on the pants, and also the tops should match in number as well. Finally, make sure the shade of burgundy on the tops and pants match the shade on the helmets. Either lighten the helmets or darken the tops and pants to make them match. I think this would go a long way towards making the current helmets look better with the throwbacks. One final thought: no more white on gold. It just doesn't work for us since the gold (and it is gold, not yellow) is too bright against the white and it just washes out. Of course, I expect exactly none of these (or any of our) suggestions to be taken, since the Director of Pants and Picnics seems to be completely content with the current status quo.
  2. Here's a completely random sorta football-related thought: When did "OC" become the accepted abbreviation for "Center"? Whenever I see "OC", I think "Offensive Coordinator" and I get really confused for a few seconds before the context makes the intent clear. Is it just to maintain continuity with "OG" (Guard) and "OT" (Tackle)? It would seem to me, though, that the reason for the "O" in "OG" and "OT" is to differentiate between Offensive Guards and Nose Guards ("NG") and between Offensive Tackles and Nose ("NT") or Defensive Tackles ("DT"). There's no equivalent position on defense for the Center, so "C" seems like it's good enough. When did this change? Admittedly, this is incredibly petty, but it drives me nuts. P.S. I actually spelled "continuity" and "differentiate" correctly w/o spellcheck. Go me.
  3. Actually, I admitted in my post that it was possible Allen didn't want to wait until possibly after the Super Bowl to get a coach. Also, it was possible that Whisenhunt put out some notice that he wasn't interested in the job. I just hope the gamble turns out to be worth it. I can see your point that you think it would've been a bigger gamble to risk being out of options and having to go with someone on staff. I just happen to think it may have been worth it to at least have met with one or two guys this week before making the decision. Who knows, you might have really found something there. This FO has not earned any benefit of the doubt, regardless of how much control Shanahan may have had. I think a healthy skepticism is warranted here, and would be so even if they had hired Whisenhunt, or anybody else. Hopefully it all works out.
  4. Fangio? Roman? Whisenhunt? I agree that fit and chemistry are important when deciding on a coach, but from the outside looking in, it sure looks like Allen may have jumped the gun a bit. Still, it's possible that Wisenhunt put out notice that he had no interest in the job (I believe I read somewhere that this was the case for Zimmer, but I admit I may have just dreamed that), and they didn't want to risk having to wait until after the Super Bowl to bring in another coach. We're going to have to trust Allen and Gruden here, because what else can we do? However, I can definitely see why someone would have some reservations, and why they would not be all-in right now.
  5. Thanks for the heads up. For some reason the early parts of this decade are fuzzy for me, including the Redskins. So, it's been about 7 years since that happened. I guess that's enough time to make a partial comeback. Hopefully the Skins have much better results this year.
  6. Wow, when was the last time the Skins wore burgundy at home against the Cowboys? That'll take a little getting used to. Hopefully that doesn't backfire against the Skins like it did against the Cowboys in 2005.
  7. Might have to retire this one. Eli is no joke any longer. ...nah.
