There is no way that Art Monk should not have been named as an inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this morning.

He should have been in last year, but had to watch an inferior Lynn Swan enter. The difference in statistics is so incredible that it defies logic.

This year he has to watch as John Stallworth enters. Stallworth was a fine player and in my opinion more worthy of HOF consideration than Swan was. Still, IMHO he is NOT Art Monk.

I want to scream.

If the procession of inferior Steeler receivers continues......

Christ!

Do you guys realize that Louis Lipps will make it to Canton before Art Monk does?

Art Monk should be in the Hall. It is not me being biased either! He broke Steve Largent’s “Most Career Receptions” and “Most Consecutive games with a Reception” records and Steve Largent was first round HOFer! These are records that Jerry Rice has broken believe me Jerry Rice will be a first round HOFer!

Maybe if Art had a Nike Contract or done more commercials so he could get more face time we would not be in this situation. I bet if Art set those milestone with Dallas, San Francisco or Green Bay he would be in?

Darrell better not have these same road blocks when it is his turn!

In the best interest of my blood presure, I'll
be brief. Only problem with Monk was that he
didn't brown nose the media. As a player, he
was one of the best and set the bar for his
position standards. Will there ever be justice.
I would like to vote for Pulitzer Prize for the
media with HOF votes.

the simple truth is they weren't going to put two Redskins in the Hall the same year.

Bobby Mitchell had to wait a long time after he was done playing to get the vote.

Because sportswriters instead of true NFL people are the electors, there is always going to be some of the popularity and notoriety game being played.

That's why I said Allen would probably make it this year and Monk within another couple of years.

That logic is fine for what happened this year, but the fact remains that he should have gone in last year in his first ballot. There were no Redskins inducted last year and he did not even make the initial cut to ten. I guess you have to have multiple drug arrests, pending rape charges, or become utterly engrossed in self promotion to get any recognition today.

What a sad state of affairs. Football's version of Cal Ripken as it applies to work ethic has to wait a second longer than necessary while less deserving players who are darlings of the media get the fast track.

Don't sweat it fellas, Monk will have to wait like Stallworth did, before it sinks in their "widdle" heads to realize just how tough it is to stay so consistant as a receiver. He set new standards for the receivers of today, to include, Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Marvin Harrison, etc.

Funny, Casper made it in, but I can think of some other TE's just as deserving, with appearances in the Pro Bowl and SB, with more stats, effect in blocking and presence, on and off the field.

They could have selected more players, but they are just getting beside themselves. The fact that the media controls the event tarnishes it somewhat at times and this is one of those moments. Monk didn't have the same offense as Jerry Rice, but still put up those kind of numners, is a testament to sure fire Hall of Famer. Patience.

I guess the whole darn 85 Bears defense, AND the whole darn Steelers of the 70s teams will be in the HOF....and that sucks. I would like to hear the voter's explanation as to why Art Monk didn't make it. And watch me throw a brick through my TV!!!

I am happy for George Allen, but I am that my boy Monk got the shaft again.
