This new audition show, scheduled for Sunday, April 17 from 12 noon-3 p.m. ET at Ballston Common in Arlington, Va will feature all 65 finalists competing for the coveted 40 spots to become a "First Lady of Football." Fans can come out to Ballston Common and watch first-hand what it takes to make the squad. During the week, the finalists will each learn three advanced dance routines and work on technique with squad choreographer Stephanie Jojokian. The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders have become the hottest entertainers in sports with women who are not only beautiful, but also dance like the best Broadway dancers. Each year the cheerleader staff strives to add new programs and raise the bar on the existing team to continue to put them ahead of other squads around the country. "The Redskins Cheerleaders have become known as supermodels in looks--and at the same time they maintain superior dance technique," Donald Wells, director of the Redskins Cheerleaders, said. "I feel Redskins fans, sports fans and even dance fans respect them as true entertainers in sports." This will be the start of Jojokian's second season with the Redskins Cheerleaders and she is still pushing cheerleaders to grow even farther as dancers. "The ladies on this team are not only beautiful but talented, which is an important combination in this industry," Jojokian said. "I always expect the Redskins Cheerleaders to dance at a level that far exceeds any other squad in professional sports." Jojokian is an accomplished dancer herself and is a featured dancer in the new Darren's Dance Grooves 2, which is scheduled to release in June. New for the audition process this year: each of the finalists will be judged on photogenic ability. Because every Redskins Cheerleaders will be featured in the team's swimsuit calendar, it is important to see how they look in photographs. The photo shoot round--first ever in the NFL--will have a huge effect on the overall score. Each finalist will model her own swimsuit and be her own stylist. "This will allow me to be able to see what each cheerleader's style is truly like," Wells said.
