bsmsss
the skins are doing things correctly this time--they drafted thinking of the future--the 10 guys drafted were taken to develop into starters in 2-3 yrs --they will be replacing old vets and will be very cheap starters smith, coleman, green, shade, armstead will be off the cap withinn 2 yrs--none will be with the team after this yr-- thus our cap will be raelly clean --it will be clean to start signing the franchise young players like jansen, bailey, etc to long term deals--this is very smart planning by skins mgt--- think about it in 2 yrs our line up will be young guys who we have deveopled or draffted qb-ramsey rb-betts fb-cartwight or bryan johnson te fleimester oline-samuels-loverne-moore-jones-jansen dline wynn-wilkinson-?-leverette? lbs-arrington-trotter-pierce? cbs bailey-smoot-braugman ss-olahate fs terrell/lott we need to get young dlineman in the draft next yr--this is a need area for young players so the future looks good and is not a cap busting team like the synder team of sanders, smith etc--its the smart way to do it--give the money to young stars like jansen, samuels, bailey and arrington--not some 30+ vet-
NavyDave
The scenario shows the major cap hits coming from Samues and Lavar due to those d@mn performance bonuses. But you have to add Champ's extension as well as Smoot soon to the equation and hopefully we can get Jansen done wth a 4 mil SB during the season. I guess some people believe S Davis is gone after this season too.
PennState11
The question is do you want the good running back or the good offensive lineman. Personaly i want the line. Just look at Denver. Put any back in the system and he works
rtandler
Add the 25-year-old Jeremiah Trotter to the list of young stars that the Skins are spending money on. The key to the cap is dead money. If you're spending over 95% of your cap dollars on active, productive players, you're in good shape. If you're spending too much on paying off prorated bonuses, you're in trouble. If they were looking to the future smith, coleman, shade, and armstead would not be on the roster. I understand keeping Green because he has been everything that a Skin should be. But these other guys could have been cut to make room for extensions for Champ and Jansen. The Skins should have eaten the signing bonuses of the older guys this year while they are not paying big $$$ to a QB.
