BG
Hey all, I am bringing myslef back into the digital age by purchasing a cellphone. I don't care what I get as far as a cellphone, i am more concerned with the plan I get. So I am looking at the pre-paid deals. Anyone have any opinions on that? I don't know anyone that has used it, and I have had a few people reccomend the "Un-Plan" from Sun-Com. What I don't want is to get locked into a sh*tty deal, so I am doing as much research as possible. I will likely use a fair amount of long-distance along with local calling in this area. I still have all my family in DC as well as freinds and contacts everywhere. Because I am in a band, I am also on the road alot and would like to not be charged rediculous fees for the roaming. The "Un Plan" seems to make sense, because the area is all over the southeast, where my band frequently performs. Can anyone help steer me in the right direction? I have done a fair amount of research, but I am looking for some consumer info and straight-up opinions.....:point2sky
TK
The "un plan" from Suncom works extremely well for me. So much in fact, that I got rid of my home phone. You can also go & change your coverage area/plan on their website to fit where you're traveling to, I believe. Never had to do it though, cause I still enough roaming minutes for when I'm on the road.
BG
Right on. That plan is looking better and better. I am thinking of doing just what you are talking about and ditching the home phone. What I am still wondering though, is if these pre-paid plans are bogus or not.... Ever had one of those plans?
TK
Nope. Never had a pre paid plan. With a cablbe modem & the Un Plan I just couldn't justify paying for a home phone line so telemarketers could call & hang up on my voice mail.
BG
Wanted to bring this one back up. I am going to sign up for the Un-plan, uless anyone has a good scoop on the pre-paid deals. I looked at T-Mobile's deals for pre-paid and they seemed legit, until I realized I am not in their coverage area. Any ideas?
The X-Factor
The regular plans are probably more cost efficient compared to the pre-paid ones. I just guess it depends on how much you are going to use it.
